Great hotel, great location, great staff.”
macau is not the place to find cheap accommodation. having said that, hotel guia provides great quality for the price. anything cheaper would get you a closet in some run-down area. quality of this sort anywhere else would break the bank. the hilltop location where the hotel guia is located is just a few minutes walk from the city action, but far enough away to offer peace and quiet. walking the other direction brings you to a park where the locals work out (running, fitness machines, etc.) a brief 3 pataca cable car ride drops you right into where the locals hang out. there are a few buses nearby, and a taxi can bring you practically anywhere in macau for a reasonable price, too. the rooms are clean, quiet, and equipped with everything you need for your stay. a free shuttle bus is offered to the ferry terminal as well.

I'll Return to the Hotel Guia”
for years i've stayed at the royal hotel just below the guia, but as the prices there keep going up, i decided to give the hotel guia a try. i'm so glad i did. it's a friendly place with a good location because i like to walk around guia hill and also be able to walk into town. the room was a bit small for two but considering the price, that's okay. it had all the comforts i like - though the windows cannot be opened (both for 'fresh' air and in case of fire). the fire exit staircase opposite my room was blocked by a bit bunch of folding beds. the restaurant in the hotel, which is not run by the hotel, only serves chinese food. for breakfast, i should think they could at least make eggs, toast and coffee for guests who like that. still, i will definitely book this hotel next time i head for macau (and macau can be a delightful place for history and good portuguese and french food. one can avoid the casinos and hoards of tourists completely). taxis are a big problem, however. buses are good - though the hotel guia is on a hill and requires a hike up, not so nice in the hot summer, i'm sure. still, worth it.

Beautiful Bedroom with GREAT View on the lighthouse and port”
I' ve read some bad reviews about Guia Hotel but I got a big discount and chose it : the hotel is modern with a beautiful bedroom with carpet everywhere, good interior design, and awesome view on the lighthouse park and on the port (Room 401). I enjoyed the rooftop terrace very much. People complained they have to climb a hill to access it but it is a tiny steep road. Staff was ok in Guia, staff in Macau do not know the basic rules of hospitality and do not know how to smile, it's a pity... I didn't dare to touch anything in the room because they charge you for anything (noodle cup, snacks, soda, tea...) and they ask a deposit of 500 HKD before you enter the room. Shuttle bus are every hour to Border and Maritime harbor.

Great value and good service”
finding reasonable accomodation in macau is not easy - but our recent stay at hotel guia proved to us that it can be done. the location is a little inconvenient as it is up a small hill - not too difficult and taxis are cheap (but difficult to find unless you are outside a casino) a bus stop nearby also helps (buses 28c, 6 and h1)so it is not a major problem. being up the hill - it is an easy walk to the lovely park nearby for morning walks etc. the staff were efficient and friendly. they were particularly helpful in calling up the shuttle bus to take us back to the ferry, and we were suprised when the front desk told us we had left a mobile phone in the room on checkout. great to find honesty these days. the rooms were a little dated, but clean and housekeeping does a great job. the beds are the usual chinese concrete slabs, but not as bad as some we have used in china. the tariff included a chinese breakfast which was fine. the was an american breakfast option, but not sure what it cost or what it offered. overall, great value, clean rooms and courteous staff. we would be happy to stay there again.

Nice little place!”
hotel guia is great for the solo traveler visiting macau for its casinos. lisboa, wynn and mgm are within walking distance not to mention the free shuttle available on request to visit these three casinos. the rooms are clean and nice. good quality toiletries provided in the bathroom. family visitor has to be a little careful. there is a pickup joint on the ground floor named "playmates club". also there is a card near the tv in the room urging the guest to subscribe to adult channels. if you have children with you, please tell the reception staff to remove the "adult channel" offer card before you enter the room. otherwise, no problems.

Great location but small rooms”
the hotel sets in a walking distance to various casino hotels and shopping areas. i stayed at the guia hotel five nights, and everyday we enjoyed walking around town to sight-seeing, shopping, and gambling. we love chinese food varieties available at the guia hotel. we took a chance in ordered a few items that we don't know what they were but turned out to be a delightful and delicious dishes like congee with century-egg, sticky-rice in lotus leaves, and chicken feet dimsum. front desk staff were very helpful with touring information around the city; thus it made this trip more memorable and enjoyable when it is easy to get around without having to spend too much time in taxi to get from point a to point b. the hotel has free maps readily available for customers and also free shuttle to the ferry pier to hong kong. this trip was one of the best vacation we have had in a long time.

Worthed hotel room in good location”
I stayed at Guia hotel in my first holiday. I realized that the place is good strategic, not far from crowded city. The important thing is about price as well. Not expensive but having good facility. The location is also near with Guia fortress which tourists visit to find the history and good sight seeing in Macau city. Onething you should consider is not so many people aware the hotel place, try to find the location first before arivving at Macau.

Review of Hotel Guia”
Rooms are clean. Hotel staff are nice. Airconition is okay and shower heater works too. I am not sure of the food since I did not eat at their restaurant. Hotel has a plasma tv. Elevator works fine too. Nice view at the Macau grand prix track and the Guia lighthouse. Overall I can say that the value for your money is excellent.

Charming hotel with excellent customer service”
Enjoyed our stay here! Hotel is quiet, away from main shopping area (at the foot of guia hill). Slept well in quiet rooms. Great housekeeping, even did a carpet wash during our stay. Reception staff are warm, informative and helpful. Our stay coincide with Macau GRAND PRIX. Was noisy when the cars had practices. But it's kinda exciting to watch. No complaints about it! will stay at this hotel again!

Nice hotel away from the Macau city”
The hotel is about 10 mins taxi drive from the city centre. To explore the city. I need to walk down the hill, past the Royal hotel to get bus or taxi. And to get back to hotel, I always take the taxi. I stayed in a twin bedroom and the room is spacious and is clean. There are cup noodles in the room and to our surprise, the price is not much difference from the supermarket. In my impression, the food/drink in hotel is usually very ex than one can get from outside but it's not so in Guia hotel. As the hotel has a club downstairs, I could hear the "boom, boom" bass coming from the club sound system. I was staying at level 4 then. So light sleeper may want to take note of it.

Great Hotel ”
We were traveling as a family group of 2 adults and 2 teenage kids, and as such this hotel met our standards perfectly. It was a great location for all of us, particularly its closeness to Guia Hill (outside the door). Staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and always kept clean. I would thoroughly recommend the Guia Hotel to anyone who requires good clean accommodation at an affordable price.

Charming Guia”
We went to Macau to celebrate our anniversary over the weekend. Hotel Guia is located near the Lighthouse, which is really charming and romantic. Hotel room is clean and tidy. Though most of the seaview are blocked by the new buildings but it is still lovely. If you think the hotel is located too far from the town, check with the staff who are extremely helpful and will show you the way. Also, do not forget Macau is not that big and 15 minutes walking distance cover large part of Macau.

Hotel Guia”
Hotel Guia is a very good value hotel. It might be a little further away from the Leal Senado square or the Lisboa casino, but either are only about a pleasant 20min walk or a 5min taxi ride away and taxis are really cheap in Macau. Hotel Guia also offers free rides to the ferry terminal for fast ferries to Hong Kong several times a day (every 1/2 hour or so in the morning) and also to the Lisboa casino itself.

Lovely hotel and service with a smile, Great locat”
Nice hotel with friendly service. At the reception you can communicate in English (which is not so obvious in Macau). Rooms clean and comfortable. Additionally, it is free internet access (Wi-Fi). Maybe it is a little slow, but as someone does not intend to watch the letterhead on YouTube, that's good enough. Very good location in the center of the island (Macau). The only drawback, which may be mentioned is that, however, to any center aimed at tourists need to go 10-15 minute walk.

Nice hotel at the foot of the hill”
The staffs at the reception speaks very good English and are very helpful. Hotel has wifi and is very convenient for internet users. There is a shuttle bus to the jetty to HK and to the custom for guests who wish to visit Zhuhai at certain time interval. The location is only a few mins walk down the hill to The Grand Lisbao and other casino. The hill behind the hotel has a very nice scenry of the whole of Macau. I will still consider staying in this hotel again if I were to come back to Macau.

Hotel Guia”
Hotel Guia is situated on the mountan, a short taxi ride from the ferry terminal and an easy walk downhill to the town centre. The lobby is bright, spacious and welcoming and the staff are english speaking and happy to provide a map and advice on sightseeing. Next to the lobby is a restaurant and although we did not dine there it was busy and the menu looked interesting and well priced. The room was a little small but comfortably furnished and the bathroom clean and functional. Overall good value for money. Recommended.

Great location, rooms are quite spacious”
the location of the hotel is good, near to 7 eleven; the convenience store and some food within 5 to 10 minutes walk. we are able to walk to the central of macau, walking to the places has its advantages as we were able to explore and chance upon some area of interest and also find good food. the hotel is also near to the guia hill and near to the ferry terminal. a ride from the venetian to the hotel is within 50mop and not to mention they have their shuttle to the ferry terminal, going back to the hotel from the ferry terminal is only around 20mop. overall a pleasant stay, oh and most important of all, the hotel provides free wifi, where you can stay connected with your friends on social networking sites like facebook and twitter. good for business travelers too.

A hotel for a night”
Hotels in Macau are expensive. I booked it just a few days before i arrived in Macao, so luckily there was a discount of the price. That's why I chose the hotel. The hotel is small, on top of the Guia mountain, so it's very convenient if you have a habit of morning running and prefer a birdview of the whole city. The nearby area is a very good place for jogging lovers, and on top of the mountain there is a historic site worth a visit. To go down to the foot of the mountain takes about 20 minutes, and to get to the Ruins of St. Paul takes about 35 minutes. Lisboa Hotel is right at the foot of the mountain. So the location of this small hotel is OK.
