Not a 4 stars hotel
This hotel is located within 10 minutes walk of 2 MRT lines and it's super easy to get around. There's view of Taipei 101 depending on your room and floor. Centrally located within walking distance of Taipei 101 (25 mins). This hotel is not even close to being a 4 stars hotel. I would say that it's 2.5 to 3 stars the most. The hotel is old and getting little maintenance, it appears to be a family run operation where the people that greet you at the front desk also serve you breakfast and the people the serve you breakfast also the hotel maids. The room and bathroom were spacious but dirty. I can see black tile grout in the bathroom and and the cheap shower head installation, the shower door wasn't closing properly. The carpet were dirty so I wouldn't walk around barefoot. The bed sheets are worn out and ripped around the edges like some old college doom room bed sheets. The TV were old projection TV with non HD and very little channel selection. The breakfast buffet I didn't care for with limited selection and quality so I skipped most breakfast and went to search for better places to eat. The staff were nice and friendly but they need to run this hotel more like a chain and not a family run business with very limited staff.

Great value for money. Everything was ok except for the TV which was busted but it was the least of my worries.

Wonderful stay at HD palace
I chose HD palace because I need to attend a function at Shangri la hotel which is a short 5 mins walk away. To my surprise it is a very nice hotel. Room is clean, spacious and well kept. Staff is friendly and very welcoming! There are many nice restaurant around the hotel and there's popular a western bar and restaurant 'Carnegie' below the hotel. The only down side is that the metro station is about 15 mins walk away...otherwise everything is good!
