Hot spring bath
We often stay here. Perfect for us.”
Not only is the place super clean because of the recent renovations, the staff is excellent. We love the four private hot springs that you can use anytime they are unoccupied. The most you ever have to wait is about five minutes, but 95% of the time there is one open. Also, the big baths for males and females (alternating) are great. The dinner and breakfast buffet are both super, too. We have stayed here around 10 times. Love it.

Great place for relaxing ”
Immersed yourself for relaxing aura of Hakone Japan. You can feel the cool weather of Hakone. The breathtaking view. You can stay in western type room and Japanese type tatami room. I recommended the later. This hotel provided you with their private onsen. The best feeling ever for relaxation.

Comfortable stay in a relatively cheap hotel”
The hotel has common (men/women segregated) as well as private onsens (x4). It does not have any laundry facilities and the breakfast was NOT a good value for the money. It is purchased separately and is basically a buffet-style breakfast with very few western food items. The hotel's location is great for a comfortable hike along Lake Ashi. It took us just over 2 hours to walk along the trail to reach the Old Cedar Avenue.

Old hotel, rooms were fine onsen was a bit rusty and breakfast was great.”
Old hotel, rooms were fine onsen was a bit rusty and breakfast was great. A bit far location but we were attracted by the price and it turned to be a good choice. Nothing luxury, looks like the place knew better days but we were happy with it. Especially the breakfast.

The bathroom is old and the shower does not work very well. The private hot spring is very nice.

Average”
You get what you pay for. Building is old. We booked a garden view room and instead saw the roof of another section. The private onsens are a big plus and it is also right by a bus station which is included in the hakone free pass. Also at checkout you are charged for bath tax. Overall, not the best but not the worst. If you are looking for a beautiful resort, look elsewhere.

Comfortable but very tired building”
Great staff, tasty breakfast buffet, and multiple baths both public and private (24 hours a day!), but the building is very dated and tired with stained carpets in the hallways, broken water features in the baths, and multiple closed facilities in the basement (bar, karaoke, mahjong). Note for restaurants: you have to book the day before otherwise you’re stuck with takeout or heading to the nearby restaurants (just a few mins on the bus).

We had a nice view of the mountains from our room. The buffet breakfast was good. Onsen experience in yukata was amazing. Will recommend especially for couples 👍🏻
