This is 30 years old hotel, and has been changed of ownership three times ”
The renovation has been made also on this hotel, and the original interior and also furniture I think was changed and look ugly. Air conditioner is pretty cool and hot water is hot enough for shower.

It’s an old hotel with new name”
I did not check the review before booking, in fact it is an old hotel with new name. The room is spacious, but bath room was very narrow. Shower holder was broken, bathtub had a patch. Closet still could be flush but not good. The interior was not well maintained. Internet connection was just okay for one device. I stayed two nights. In the second day, after room clean up; I noticed that cups were not replaced with the clean ones. I had to wash them by myself before preparing my coffee. Food was tasted good, but it was not enough waitress/waitresses so run out of food and table clean up was very slow. Swimming pool was an old one, and not maintained well. Hot water was good, and sofa looked quite new.

Very very disappointed”
My book not same with my real room, i book 72m2 room but in check in time i got 20m2 room. And staff just say its false because hotels forget to change price! Its crazy, very not recomended, We want change to ambasador room, staff say we can pay 3x price in my apps!!

Kartika Graha”
Kartika Graha is a nice place to stay if you want to visit Malang, and makes a great base for exploring the Bromo vulcano and Ijen crater lake. The hotel looks a bit like from the 80's, but is very clean and comfortable, for a nice price. Our room even had a great vulcano view!

Stay there 2 night and it very awesome, friendly staff n large room, bathroom is clean. There is a 24h shop next to the hotel..and it also easier to get a taxi from there. Hope to see you again on my next visit to Malang town.

Good hotel”
I had a good stay. Checkin first gave me another room then i booked, twin bed/older and less then i booked. Not sure for which reason. The bellboy pointed it out when i mentionned the twin bed that it was not a deluxe as booked. I got another room which was nice and i think they renovated it not so long ago. The restaurant was good. Swimming pool ok. The nightclub was excellent with live band, some shows and a karoake next to it. It gave some noise but earplugs are mandatory in almost every city hotel in indonesia anyways so no problem for me personally. Staff was friendly and helpfull. I would recommend this hotel for long stays. Like most hotels in malang it is advised to have your own transport. Good taxi arranging services. Would stay again.

AC system needs upgrade”
This is an old hotel that is a victim of climate change. I know the history of this hotel as I was born in this very city. It was a grand hotel of its time. They built an window tight room with a central AC. Malang at that time was very cool hence the system worked well. After 30 years Malang is hotter and the central AC is failing. Making the room window tight( cant open windows as its sealed) made matters worse, as although the temperature outside was cooler you cant let cool air in into a hot room. I complained several times, and finally they gave me a room with a backup split AC. When I questioned why was not this room given to me earlier during the first complaint, they replied they had only 2 rooms with the backup AC. They perhaps have been getting away with their existing AC system as most Indonesians prefer less cool AC. Cleanliness is an issue, my wife noticed ants. And due to stains on sheet, she requested a sheet change Plus points: excellent location, helpful staff.

Kartika Graha is old hotel but have a good location at Malang Centre, good staff (very friendly), good room but their elevator is very old (I think they muast change their elevator).

Kartika Grha - Malang - East Java”
this was my 1st visit to Malang, a nice city - and luckily the hotel location is quite near to few city interest, such as ijen road, toko oen, alun-alun etc. I would suggest to have the hotel to be renovate, at least for its decoration and furniture interior, because its quite old and will then give impression that it is not clean.

Once the best hotel in town”
i arrived in malang having been spoiled at the hotel pheonix in jogja. i nearly cried when i was shown my room at the kartika graha. the truth is i am in indonesia for 30 days and this was the most expensive hotel i had booked. having been spoiled at the pheonix i was expecting more for my money. nevertheless the hotel maintains most of the features of the good hotel, it use to be. in addition, the staff seem to know that its no longer good value and go out of their way to provide those extra touches.

Strategic location, nice swimming pool, rooms need maintenance”
The hotel is strategically located in the city center of Malang. The swimming pool was nice and clean. We stayed in Superior Room at 4th floor, the hotel is old, but I think all rooms have been refurnished. Bathroom need to be improved, the shower door is broken, and toilet flush was not working at our last day stay.

Pluses and minuses”
On the PLUS side : The Bamboo Coffee Lounge served great food at reasonable prices. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bed was good and the shower hot and strong. On the MINUS side : The room was not cared for properly. One electric plug was pulled out of the wall which we reported as it looked dangerous. We are in our 60's with short grey hair but there was a lot of long black hair on the bathroom floor. The bathroom sink had no plug to use; however, it was taking its time draining water so we looked down the plug hole and saw a huge mass of something stuck there (hair perhaps?) Doubt we would stay here again.
