Well maintained hotel ”
Everything is great, we had a great stay there. If you are looking to book a spacious room, this is it. I loved the amenities, chilling area near the lobby, onsen and the mini souvenirs shop. The only down side is check out time is too early, which is 10 a.m, a bit disappointed and they charge hourly if you check out late. Unlike the hotel next to it, they offer to check out at 12p.m. It's too rush to check out at 10 a.m.

A nice stay ”
We were staying in the Superior tatami room with a hot bath tub overlooking the river. The room is very clean & spacious enough for me & my husband . The soak in the outdoor Onsen given us a very peaceful & relaxing feel:) And the walk just outside the hotel along the river and around the rows of Sakura trees made this Omachi Onsenkyo stay memorable :) I have booked the half board meal for this stay, however the food for dinner was quite normal to my expectation. However the polite serving staff made up for it.

Expensive but fabulous hotel”
Each time we come to Japan we try to find a hotel that is special. This hotel is at the beginning of the Kurube -Tatayama Alpine route on the Matsumoto City side. It is set in mountain country and we chose to go in Spring so that all of the route would be accessible yet there would be snow on the mountain. The hotel was the perfect start to our Alpine journey - fabulous, large (even by Western standards) rooms; delicious, multi-course Japanese dinner; excellent, personal service; and a room balcony with a hot springs/onsen bath for two! And, yes, there are also public onsets/baths if desired. IT is the most expensive hotel we've stayed in when in Japan but this once a year experience is well-worth the effort - as is the Alpine route over Mt. Tatayama.

Nice hotel but not much personal touch ”
It is a nice hotel but not an impressive one. The old gentleman who checked us in speaks good English and escorted us to our room. He also gave us restaurant recommendation (not many around). However, other staff are not very attentive and seems not bother to attend to your needs except the female staffs in the restaurants. I have booked a Japanese-styled room with private onsen and it was on 5/F. So to speak, it is just a stone bath tub placed in the balcony which is surrounded by sandblasted (obstructed-viewed) window. I understand it provides privacy but it lose the meaning of open bath. Yet the public spa area is good. Only one type of yukata is provided for either male or female guest and no child-sized yukata were provided to our kids. It will be nice if they can provide female guest with different choice of yukata like some other ryokan do. The breakfast was served in a hall as buffet and the spread is considered ok. Dinner was served in an individual dinning room but personally I think the quality is just average. Bear with me, I've stayed in a few ryokan but by far this was the most average one. As a hotel, I think it does its job fairly but If you want to have a very traditional Japanese experience or a place that can provide you with a personal touch, I would not recommend this hotel.

Hospitality at its best”
The staff were very accommodating and made us feel right at home. In room onsen bath was perfect for relaxing in on a rainy night. Dinner was filling and traditional, our host who was on an internship from Taiwan learning hospitality (so sorry I didn’t catch your name!) was so lovely and an absolutely wonderful host. We stayed here the night before doing the Kurobe Alpine Route and found it to be in a good location for completing it in one day. We would stay again!

What a wonderful hotspring inn with scrumptious meals and awesome hot bath both indoor and outdoor. You could also walk to the river banks , just next to the hotel, for great pictures. The staff are accommodating and speak a little English.
