Did not like Kesar Palace”
Hard to find 3
I'm not happy with Kesar Palace. I would not say it was horrible, as I only used the hotel for sleeping and showering. Alas, it had failed to provide the facilities that I sought out the hotel for. Noisy neighbours made it hell to sleep at this place. I had to ask them twice, rather politely, before actually losing my cool to calm them down. By this time it had already well past midnight and I missed my early bus to Kumbhalgarh fort because of that. Secondly, no hot water was provided for shower. The first upon much insistence, I got lukewarm water to take a shower. The second I had to take a cold shower before checking out for good. The entrance to hotel is super shady, makes you think twice before entering. I do not recommend this hotel to other travellers who are looking for budget travelling. This place failed in serving two purposes it was expected to serve. Altough you can say, the first problem was external, but the hotel could have intervened to make matters a little less intolerable.

Hotel Kesar palace, Udaipur”
View from terrace was good, kitchen was neat and food was tasty.
It is located in very tight lanes with no car parking. Please do not pick this hotel in case you are travelling in your own vehicle. They ask you to park your car in a slightly far off place that has public parking. Rooms have a weird smell. hot water is not available and behavior of staff isn't up to the mark.

Very comfortable stay in a great location”
location, architecture, room design
Stunning converted Hevali in a very central location close to the main attractions like the city palace and lake picholla. The air conditioning worked well, the rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The main downside was that since we stayed in the off-season the restaurant was closed, but there were plenty of places nearby to make up for this. The beds could have been more comfortable, but they were at standard for budget hotels in India.

Great hotel, friendly staff.”
Staff - Location - Views from the rooftop terrace.
To add context to the review, I am a solo traveller who primarily stayed at cheap accommodation. I was in India for a total of 2 weeks and I visited 7 cities. I didn't care if the hotel was old just if it was clean and that the staff were friendly. Another factor that was important to me was the location, and area, i.e close to major sights or in a dodgy district. I really enjoyed my stay at Kesar Palace. I had arranged an airport pick up and they were there waiting with my name. I got to the hotel at about 7AM, so way before check in, and it was no issue I waited for about 20 mins then was shown my room. The owner was a really friendly bloke, who warned me about the touts and directed to cheaper parts of town. I had breakfast once on the terrace which was fine. I would definitely recommend this hotel it's one of the nicest places I stayed and the relaxed/friendly staff really made it.

Great hotel”
Large room, good wifi, nice restaurant
Good large room, kept very clean, wifi worked well. Rooftop restaurant was great, lovely views, of the lake. They picked us up from the train station which was great. Located really close to the palace and the lake. There was no tv or fridge but was a good place to stay, would stay again

Great location close to major attractions.”
Proximity to city palace and Bagore ki Haveli
The room was pleasant enough. But the check-in process was a bit strange. A child of about 11 (the owner's son?) let us in and said check-in would be in the evening. He did'nt know what kind of room we booked and through what channel. I booked a lake view room but never got it as it was already occupied. The rooftop restaurant was ok and served some staple local food which was good value for money. Hotel is located on a tiny side road that leads off the main road and was difficult to locate in the dark. The good thing about the hotel is its close proximity to the City Palace and Bagore ki Haveli (where a nightly puppet show/dance performance takes place)

Clean room, good location, good price on transfer to Jodhpur
We had a pleasant stay at this hotel, management and staff were very kind, they arranged the best price for a connection to Jodhpur (we asked 4 other places). Hotel in good location, spacious room and clean.
