We keep going back”
We love Orta and have been coming regularly for 11 years. This was our 7th stay at the Bussola and is unlikely to be our last. We like the location, staff, views and pool. Dinner on the first evening on the balcony overlooking the lake was very good, as were both breakfasts.

Another return visit”
This was our fifth stay at the Bussola as Orta is somewhere we visit regularly and if we can we plan our touring holidays to have a few days relaxation here. As ever the staff were friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English, and as far as I could tell French and German too. Breakfast is a buffet but they will cook omelettes or fried eggs on request and sitting on the terrace overlooking the lake is the perfect location to enjoy it. The only minor criticism was that the WiFi arrangements now seem dated. You pay €3 for 24 hours, cumulative not continuous, and the signal was not consistent.

Family run hotel in idlylic location”
This was our third visit so it is obviously somewhere we like. The hotel has an excellent hilltop position with great views over the beautiful lake and mountains but it takes less than ten minutes to walk into the town square, a bit more coming back up the steep hills! The rooms are large and there is ample free parking, important in a town which is largely pedestrianised. It is a family run hotel with friendly staff, some of whom have been there for years. There is a lovely pool with spectacular views and a nice bar and terrace. The only downsides were that the air-conditioning was only on from 3pm to midnight, so the room became hot during the night, and they were a bit parsimonious with the shower gel providing only two sachets most days when we each needed to shower twice a day. Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel at a cost of around €1 per hour.
