The room is not big, but a 28-inch suitcase can be opened. However, the door cannot be opened when the suitcase is open, and it is a bit troublesome to organize the luggage. However, the location is very good, very close to the subway Shijo Station. The nearest exit also has escalators and elevators, and it is just around the corner. The room is small but clean. There are coin-operated washing machines and dryers on the first floor, and the staff at the front desk are quite friendly. There is a convenience store diagonally across the street, and next to it is a very delicious ramen restaurant. Walking to the main road, there are two rows of department stores. During the three days of staying here, I went to the basement of Daimaru department store across the street to buy discounted cooked food for supper or dinner for two nights. There are also many other places to eat nearby. In summary, highly recommended!

However, everything else is very good, clean, the bed is of medium firmness, and there are staff at the front desk who can speak Chinese, so communication is not a problem. The key point is that it is very close to the bustling area and only a 3-minute walk from the subway station, which is very convenient. I really like the ramen next to the hotel - highly recommended.

I recently stayed at Hotel M's Est Shijo Karasuma, and it exceeded my expectations. The location is fantastic, just a short walk to Kawaramachi where all the bars and nightlife are, and also close to the beautiful Gion district. It’s really hard to beat this spot if you want to explore Kyoto without constantly relying on public transportation. The value for money is excellent – I felt like I was getting a great bang for my buck. Plus, unlike many Japanese hotels, the room was a comfortable size. Highly recommend this hotel for both solo travelers and couples looking for convenience and a cozy stay in Kyoto! Note: I rated 4 stars for facilities because there weren’t many amenities; I only recall seeing a laundry room.

Located very close to the Shoho Station of the Karasuma subway line, there are hundreds if not thousands of restaurants within walking distance. We found the neighborhood sidewalks to be quite densely packed with international tourists. The bathroom was immaculately clean with ultra modern features. Functionally it was pleasant and very useful. The efficient layout plan of our room made the absolute most of its limited floor space. There was a desk with good lighting and power supply for laptops etc. Very little room to stretch out one's body other than the on top of the bed. The cramped quarters combined with a window that only looked out to the face of an adjacent building often left us eager to get outside for more space. Clearly, this hotel has done its best make use of the constraints of limited square footage. No meals on site. All of the staff was really nice and helpful. Special greeting to the friendly cleaning staff. We enjoyed meeting and talking with them.

The location of this hotel was excellent as a home base for my time in Kyoto. It is close to two train lines which made getting around Kyoto easy. It is across the street from a convenience store as well. The room was small for Western standards but very clean and had all the amenities that I needed. I would happily stay here again.
