Hotel Marroad Hakone
Good but there are some negatives”
Food for breakfast and dinner have to be ordered in advance A bit of a distance from train station and shuttle buses are not available most of times plus their services finishes very early No big beds only separate single beds available in the whole hotel Amazing Views, Big rooms, Friendly staff members
Clean public bath area, very good quality of hotel spring, location a little bit far from main station, but hotel got free shuttle bus. Room is big, staff very friendly, not so many restaurant options nearby, hotel restaurant needs to book in advance.
Great Onsen! highly recommended”
it was a very pleasant stay, I enjoyed beautiful mountain view and experience Japanese bathing culture in a very cool onsen.. the location is only 3 minutes walk from Koen Kami Station. P. S: Please kindly add some map direction in the station. me and my husband got lost at the very first time. oh yeah.. and thank you for your greeting cards of our first wedding anniversary. I'd love to stay here again on my next visit
Staff was very accommodating and the rooms are big with a nice bathroom and all the facilities needed. The view is also very nice and the air on was working as well. The onsen was stocked with all the necessities for grooming. We did not encounter any bad experience with the hotel and the staff also asked us if we needed a shuttle to the station which was very convenient for us. Also, the best was to get to this hotel is via cable car or bus.
Definitely will come back!
A classic European style hotel set in a scenic area. Close to tourist attractions around. Free shuttle service to Gora station makes access to them handy. Helpful and friendly staff at reception.”
Excellent Western meals are served at the restaurant. The public hot spring baths are very good but there is no private bath.We had a pleasant stay in the hotel and will certainly return when we visit the Hakone area in future.
the location is in very quiet neighborhood, close to the station and gora park. Hotel is outdated, but the staff always smile and nice, the receptionists spoke good english and very helpful. Breakfast and dinner need to be reserved ahead of time, we did not get the dinner, but the breakfast was excellent. The onsen is one of the best, rich with minerals and clean. Beds are a bit hard but still fine, there are 2 kinds of pillows, personally I like the hard one. No wifi in the room, only at the lobby. If you rent the router, you should be fine. The hotel provides free transfer to bus station and rope-way station, or basically anywhere around gora.
we stayed for 1 night with 2 connecting room. my children 10 and 15 years old. the hotel quite close from Gora station. instead of walking to the hotel from Gora station..i suggest you to ride tram from Gora station and stop at the 2nd stop. then go out and walk down the stairs and U turn. on the way to hotel you will find another hotel that is newer that marroad hakone. the hotel is about 500m walking distance, right side. the hotel is sooo quiet. we thought that we only the customer there. since we check in and check out, we didnt meet another customer. the room is big and quite ok. clean enough but..still feels quite scary at night with the voice of the wind blows the branches of the trees. the hotel has onsen on the 1st floor. again...we are alone both in female n male onsen room. we spent only 5 mins in the onsen because it is not comfortable with the place. overall, i didnt recomment this hotel for those who carry children under 10. they might be crying and do not feel safe with the environment. price is also quite expensive.
dirtiest Hotel I had ever seen at Japan, the room is dirty and wet, dust everywhere
Not too convenient”
Far from Gora station, but hotel provides transport till 6pm daily. Breakfast was amazing! Room small and musty. Hot spring was ok.
Big thumbs up to the hotel's shuttle service! Free rides are provided to Sounsan station and Gora station. The onsen is also great! Enjoyed the stay there.
A/C didn’t work at all in the room; had to sleep with window open. Called front desk and was told to turn the a/c dial on, which it was. There was no thermostat control in the room either. Front desk said they would turn down heat in the room but I saw no difference anyways. Also, charged a “hot spring” tax upon checkout; didn’t have this at any other hotels I stayed at which also had Onsens.
Very far from train station”
Very very long walk from cable car station to the hotel!!. No food served at the hotel restaurant , please eat your dinner somewhere else. Aircon not working in the room, staff insisted it is working and centrally controlled so room was stuffy! Onsen is public - male and female separated, it was very nice. Breakfast is not buffet style, individual set served and was very nice.
Comfortable onsen hotel”
Hakone was the first stop for my 2-week Japan trip. I didn't realise the tram reaching Hote Marroad would stop service after 7pm and obviously had missed that on my arrival day. Luckily the hotel sent a van to pick my up from the nearest train station Gora 5 minutes after I had called them, saving me from walking all the way up the hill with my bulky luggage. A thing about the hotel is that it doesn't provide traditional Japanese dinner as onsen hotels usually do. That's a pity... Yet, if offers a decent room rate with all the necessary facilities and comfortable onsen. Staff are friendly too.
big room, but a bit far from downtown, with free subtle bus to town is a plus, nearby only one coffee shop serve western food.
A di stance walk fm Gora station... esp up the slope. Luckily still hv cable car n hotel car ”
Nice n quiet with onsen but not a easy walk fm Gora station. Make sure u catch the last hotel bus at 6pm or the cable car at 7pm
Furniture slightly old but everything else are perfect
Short Quiet Vacation Stay”
It locates near Cable Car station, hot spring facilities good in the cold autumn season. Though not the best hot sprint hotel but good for a short stay in Hakone within walking distance to station. We enjoyed the stay as the rate is acceptable. Staff is friendly and helpful. Will come back here again.
One night @ Marroad Hakone”
Generally ok except it is slightly older. Location was good (in the sense that it was surrounded by green but access was pretty limited as the cable car/tram and hotel shuttle also stopped operating after 8pm and you either have to use a taxi or take a trek up the hill. We opted for the latter and was rewarded with a nice cool evening walk. Perhaps the hotel should consider extending shuttle servce from foothill till later as there was limited option on dining in the hotel and up the hill. The few restaurants available are all located at the foothills. In general, we did have a pleasant experience (including the onsen).
