Personal touches make all the difference”
I know people say things like "it's our home away from home" often in reviews, but in this case it is 100% applicable. We love staying at the Melamun, mainly because of the staff and the quiet, relaxed atmosphere. While the rooms are clean (no mold!) and kept to a high standard (no sheets sewn together) and the grounds are beautifully maintained, it is the friendly, helpful staff that make it. Nothing is too much bother and they are also an endless font of information about the local scene, which local tours are good, which ones to look out for. The owner and staff are very involved in the local community and any mention of the Melamun or Suzy brings a smile and a story from locals. There is always at hand to give you advice or fix a problem and my wife loves the complimentary tea and coffee service, which is available anytime you like. The only negative I have about the Melamun is the attitude of the occasional guest who thinks that staff are subservient clones - try treating them as people and see how much this place can be a friendly, relaxing place to plan your adventures in North Bali. As a final note, this is our third stay here, and we actually have come to know some of the other guests as they are all returnees as well - which says something about the standard of this wonderful place.

Great stay”
We loved our stay at Hotel Melamun. Susie and John, the owners, were great. They encouraged us to participate in the local community. Hotel Melamun offers Indonesian dance performances during the evening that support the local community as well as on site massage therapists. They have friendly drivers that can take you to various tourist hot spots. Their staff are well looked after and Susie and John encourage them to develop their careers in hospitality and tourism. The hotel has very clean rooms, a lovely garden and a relaxing pool. I would highly recommend a stay at Melamun to anyone heading to Lovina.

Good price with very good service”
don't judge book by its cover. that's so true about melamun hotel. when we entered the gate to melamun hotel, we had doubt a little bit due to its small and simple entrance. is it clean enough? but from there, i couldn't say anymore but to praise this small lovely hotel. first the staff was very helpful. once they saw us with 2 little kids, he upgraded our room to a bigger one. the room was large and clean, the bathroom although very simple, was also very spacious and clean. each of the rooms facing a small garden and swimming pool. the coffee and tea were free flowing 24/7, no matter you ask in the morning, afternoon or in the middle of the night. special note for the coffee: very great!!! i ended up drinking 3 cups of coffee the whole day. the owner and staff of the hotel will always great you with smile and help you with whatever you need. the ambience in melamun is very relaxing and quiet, private yet full of warm feeling. totally, we loved stay at this hotel. very recommended! will sure go back here again.

The best family hotel in Lovina”
when I came to hotel Melamun, its look small and shady...when i came inside the hotel is big enough...6 cars can park easily, there is beautiful swimming pool! When check in, the process is fast and we get the room easily. the room size is big, 1 queen size and 1 single bed inside. clean. but the queen size bed is not very comfortable (i think the spring is too old) but the single bed is quiet good. 2 bottles of drinking water, and complete ammenities in the bath room. TV Cable was provided but limited channel. The best part in the hotel is to know Mrs. Suzie and her husband (the owner) they were very friendly...They are philanthropys, Mr.Suzie invite (poor and uneducated) villages girls to learn balinese dance, read, and draw in the hotel, her husband with village boys, have soccer team. At night the hotel staff entertain us with guitar and percussion performance...so peacefull...Over all I and my family will back to this hotel when we are in Lovina....

Great New Hotel”
Stayed at Hotel Melamun for one night only on a weekend getaway. Check-in took less than 10 minutes and was immediately ushered to the room nearby the pool (as requested via Agoda). The receptionist informed me that the hotel was newly opened in Dec 2014 (new management?), so everything was clean and brand new. The double bed is huge and really comfortable. Hot water ran perfectly with good water pressure. WiFi fast and reliable. 5min walk to the beach. The front office staff was very helpful in arranging the Dolphin tour at a very good price on short notice (I requested this the afternoon before) Compliments for not marking up the price! Complimentary breakfast was pretty basic and served a la carte (probably because the low occupancy during low season). But if you want more, the room service menu is offered at a very reasonable price. Tried the chocolava cake and it was quite good! A really comfortable place to stay.

Lovely place to relax, in beautiful surrounding. ”
Loved our stay here, as a beautiful place to relax or get out and about. While not in Central Lovina, Melamun is located on a street with a short stroll to the beach and plenty of eating choices, plus several shops for basic needs. The hotel provides a free drop off and pick up service to Central Lovina, just a 5 minute drive away. Also arranges other activities such as seeing the dolphins. Nothing is a bother for the staff, who are always friendly and helpful, going out of their way to assist. The individual rooms are grouped around the pool and restaurant, with beautiful shrubbery to make lounging around the pool in a peaceful environment very attractive. However wi-fi access worked best at the restaurant. The one down side of our stay was being given the hardsell by the manager to sponsor one of his children's schooling (as another previous guest is apparently doing), with him stating untruthfully that there is no free schooling in Bali. Further reminders to mention sponsorship to my friends made subsequent interactions with him quite uncomfortable, and left me wishing I'd bluntly nipped this in the bud very early on.

lovely stay at Melamun”
we had a great stay in lovina at melamun. the owner suzie was very friendly and helpful. she cares for and looks after her staff and it is reflected in their positive attitudes. the strap on one of my sandles broke and they had it repaired free of charge. year when everyone is quiet for the day and stays in their houses) and they provided us with meals etc. as we couldn't go out that day. our room was fine - near the pool and with a large bathroom. we were there during nyepi day (balinese new we were unsure about going on the morning dolphin watch as we had read negative reviews about it in a guide book but after talking to suzie we decided to go and it was great - not as described in the book at all. a couple of evenings we walked along the beach to the main square where the dolphin statue is surrounded by restaurants along the foreshore. suggest you take a torch for the walk back as it is a bit of a hike in the dark. also if you would rather not walk the hotel provides free transport to and from the main square although we did not need to use that.

Nice hotel, very homey & comfortable”
Melamun is a small hotel only 9 rooms but very comfortable, the room spacious enough, all the furniture /equipment in the room & bathroom looks solid & strong, not like some budget hotel which just simply use cheap furniture. It's not easy to find a decent hotel, reasonable price, and yet modern plus comfortable in Lovina. I found it all in Melamun, only one minor thing maybe the location is not in front of the beach. To me a good sleep is better than having a sea view for 24 hours. The staffs who works at Melamun also all very kind & friendly from the Manager who in charge in the marketing & reception until the restaurant staffs and the cleaning service who also act as porter.. everyone are sincere & well mannered. Before the trip I have doubted how my trip will end up because it took us 5 hours to reach Lovina from Denpasar, the traffic quite bad in bedugul area due to high season, lots of busses.. but after staying 2 nights in Lovina I was very happy and Lovina is very quiet & peaceful..

The best value for money hotel I ever stay”
the location of this hotel is in lovina beach and the main reason we go there is for dolphins. the room is spacious, although we only book a superior room with extra bed, but it still spacious to roaming around. (the mattress of extra bed is not so comfy...the sponge could slowly get flat after a while, but we only stay 1 night) the bathroom also spacious and clean, and the shower will have distance from the sink, which is good because we can keep the floor dry. and the best thing for me is that we can have coffee or tea as many time as we like without making it ourself, we can just ask from the restaurant, it's just like having a butler..although we didn't have time to enjoy this service :-( maybe next time when we visit bali, then we will truly take time and enjoy lovina from this hotel.

Best place in Bali”
My experience at Hotel Melamun is one I wont forget. Lovina is a very special place, a world away from the hustle of Kuta. We booked our trip here on a whim and it was the best part of our holiday. The Hotel is small and intimate, run by Susie, an Australian woman. The staff are friendly and all very good at their jobs. The food was spot on each time and served with a smile. The hotel has a lovely pool and the rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I can not recommend this place highly enough!

Oustanding accommodation, people and service”
What a wonderful hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the rooms are pure delight, roomy, immaculate and modern. The owners are an amazing Australia couple who are running this hotel and supporting the local Balinese people, paying for schooling, medical expenses and the basic needs of the children and families in the Lovina area. The staff are so friendly and devoted to their employers. Lovina is a haven in Bali that I havent seen in a very long time, reminds me of Bali when I first visited in the 1970's. If you are in the Lovina area this hotel should be your first choice. I will definately be returning and recommending this hotel, staff and owners to all.

Very nice hotel in Lovina!”
we stayed in august 2012 with our two children for 5 nights at hotel melamun in lovina. the staff was really very friendly and made our stay very pleasant. very good breakfast with fresh juice, free coffee and tea throughout the day. a lot of interesting activities (e.g. several visits of the backcountry, lovely waterfalls, hot springs, temples, coral reef, ...) can be booked comfortably at the front desk of the hotel. possibility to have dinner at the hotel, a lot of restaurants nearby. a really very nice place to relax and enjoy the holidays!

The best hotel we stopped at in Bali!”
I cant speak to highly of the Melamun and it's owner. The price was fantastic and the hotel was better than hotels charging three times as much. The pool was the first one that was deep enough to dive into and not hit the bottom. I was sick on the day we were supposed to leave. The room had been booked out to someone else. The owner let us stay in her private appartment for one night at half price as it didn't have a TV! I just wish all hotels were run like the Melamun. The only down side was finding the hotel at night, it could be better signed.

Amazing!”
Our stay at Melamun was fantastic. The staff were lovely, the room was beautiful, the hotel gounds were a really pretty, relaxing setting for our stay, and the value for what you get was incredible. If we go back to the Lovina area in Bali, I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else.

Clean and comfortable hotel”
Hotel Melamun is a comfortable option in Lovina. It is a 5 min walk from the beach. Hotel standards are good, comfortable roomsize and well equiped with A/C. There is a pool in the garden. Wireless internet was not working in the room, but had a good reception around the pool. There are a couple of restaurants around.

A peaceful haven!”
I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Melamun and didn't want to leave. Lovely room, nice pool and well-maintained gardens. Susie, the owner was an absolute gem and nothing was too much troulble.I even had an 'in-house' massage because it was so affordable and the therapist was excellent. The beach is in walking distance and I did a 'Dolphins at Dawn' tour which was booked through the hotel. My breakfast was delivered to my room and was delicious.

a beautiful hotel I'd love to go back to”
I stayed totally five nights at this hotel and didn't wanna leave on the day I was leaving. Everybody was friendly at Hotel Melamun. The room is big and clean. The facilities in the room are not so mordern but housekeeping definately makes up for it. Sheets were changed every day when it was in my opinion not necessary at times. I was impressed by the clean floor every day after housecleaning. Tea and coffee were served for free anytime we wanted as we expected. I enjoyed swimming and relaxing on the chairs alongside the pool almost every afternoon. We had dinner once in the restaurant and tried room service couple of times. The food was good and delicious.

Affordable rooms, excellent staff and management”
Second stay here and couldn't recommend it enough. The staff are ever attentive and friendly and will do anything and everything for you. Hotel is incredibly well priced for clean, comfortable rooms with lovely gardens and a small but sparkling pool. The hotel will arange transport and activities at some of the most competitive prices that save you having to haggle with operators. But the real draw card, as others have indicated, is the owner Suzie. She will help you out with local knowledge and tips, recommend great places to eat (one just around the corner on the main drag called Le Jezune or something similar is amazing), is heavily involved in aid and education (I think she's a teacher by training) projects in the local community and will go out of her way to make your stay that extra bit special. For instance, on this trip we were there for Ogoh Ogoh and Nyepi (the parade of demons down the street and the day of silence) and she arranged seats for us on the street during the parade and drinks brought from the hotel, and on the silent day made sure we had room service for the day, got the staff to play music to us by the pool and made us her signature cocktail herself (not to mention when she found out it was my birthday arranged for a birthday cake for me). Having said that, sadly (for guests!) she has sold the hotel to focus more on her aid projects in the area, so no idea what the new owners will do with the place (aside from apparently turning the family room into a chocolate spa). I think they hand over as of the 4th of April. Thanks for the great stays, Hotel Melamun!

Exceptional”
Pleasant stay in this hotel. Great location for tourist that is going for Dophin watching as the hotel is located near to the beach (about 3-5 minutes walking distance to the beach). Cleanliness is good, staffs are friendly. Definitely will stay in this hotel again when we visit Lovina,Bali in future. Suitable for tourist that is looking for a peaceful, quiet and clean environment for relaxing.

Great hotel”
We had a great stay at Hotel Melamun. The rooms were extremely clean and modern and the bathroom was huge! The pool was also a highlight for us. It was big, clean and the perfect temperature. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and kind. The hotel has just changed owners so they are in the middle of some changes and construction. The construction didn't bother us at all, it was never noisy while we were sleeping and wasn't even a bother to us while lounging around the pool. We had a hard time getting wifi in our room, but the staff was extremely kind and let us change rooms (they also let us know that wifi access would be better for all rooms after construction). The only negative thing about the hotel is the location. It's about a 20 minute walk to the main street with all of the restaurants. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would be glad to go back!
