If you are looking to stay in a family-owned, ancestral property with the comforts of modern living, right smack beside Calle Crisologo, then look no further than Hotel Mercante. When I booked this place, all I was looking for was a pet friendly inn that has parking and close to Calle Crisologo. I was not expecting much as I remembered my last Vigan trip when we stayed in this old ancestral home that was not only dark, gloomy and musty inside but also a bit far from the town center that it was necessary to take a trike or calesa or your own vehicle to get to Crisologo and the Plaza. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Hotel Mercante. As it turned out, Hotel Mercante is less than 10 meters away from Calle Crisologo. Its location is perfect for sightseeing without having to be bothered by the troves of tourists plying the very famous street. The one thing that can surpass the location in terms of why this hotel should be on top of anyone’s list is its owner & staff. I have never met a successful business owner as friendly, helpful and humble as Sydney. He is a treasure trove of information about Vigan and its surrounding towns and was very open to give recommendations about everything I inquired about from restaurants, to furniture maker, to coffee bean supplier to how to store fresh eggs I bought from his farm. His hotel serves fresh brewed coffee, blue lemonade and cold water all day and the coffee is to die for! I had to buy 2kg from his supplier which his staff graciously arranged for me. You can also buy fresh organic eggs straight from Sydney’s farm at half the price you would pay for in Manila. You just need to inform the staff 2 days before departure if you need more than what they have in stock. I have been quite quirky with my questions and requests during my stay and I have nothing but praises for the courtesy & friendliness of the staff. Stayed here for 2 nights with my family and upon arrival they were very accommodating, the receptionist was pleasant giving directions where to park, check in was smooth and we were given the rooms few minutes after our arrival. The first night they room us at the family suit in the lobby which is convenient for us, as we have 2 kids and senior with this trip. Easier for us as we do not have to take stairs or lift. Apparently on the second night, they moved us on the third flr which was unexpected.. only mentioned upon our arrival coming from our sightseeing. The next day they told us that they will refund our stay due to inconvenience, wasn’t expecting a refund at all because the room where they moved us was fine, only that we need to take a lift or stairs. Then, while checking out, was told that we will get the full refund of our 2 nights stay, it was unexpected, happy already getting a day refund but the full was crazy. The hotel manager said the owner insisted to refund in full for the inconvenience. We were happy and even tried to convince them that a day refund is just fine, and wanted to speak to the owner as I know that it’s a business. To make the story short, they insisted the full refund and left with a smile. Highly recommend this hotel for their awesome customer service! A thumbs up with 5 stars for such a rare service 👍

All the in-room amenities you would expect are there plus extra -- the room we booked had a private refrigerator, cable TV, hot water on both shower and sink, bottled water, coffee and sugar, cups and saucer per person, a kettle :) bathroom was big and clean and the room itself was newly built and we were the first ones to check in :) breakfast was good also though coffee was 3-in-1 and not brewed. the lobby was beautiful, the walls were bright and colorful. They have an elevator, too which my senior companions and I really appreciated. my family and I enjoyed our stay here. Will rebook here if ever I am in Vigan again :)

I am thankful to see this is in Agoda. It gave me the chance to let my kid and mom experience the environment of Hotel Mercante. Place is so clean and maintained. Staff are all so obedient. Disclosures about what you need to know were advised. Its just right next Calle Crisologo so you will enjoy the entire stay in Vigan. If you will get hungry there's mercante cantina in hotel.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable to stay in. The lobby provided a self service station for drinks - water. brewed coffee, and juice. The coffee they provided was one of the best we've had that we even asked the staff where they got their beans from so we can bring some home. Additionally, they have an adjoining canteen/food court area just beside the hotel lobby entrance. It should be noted that the walls are pretty thin though because they kept the original structure of the house. Overall, it was a good stay and we enjoyed our time in Hotel Mercante. We'll definitely be back should we return to Vigan in the future.

HOME AT THE CENTER OF TOURISM”
No need to travel far for tours. Calle Crisologo is just a few steps from the hotel, the center of tourism in Vigan City. Food, Souvenirs and Kalesa ride is there already. I stayed in the suite. It has its own tub, ref, coffee maker, and 2 bathrooms. You can also order bagnet and longganisa (for take home) at one of the stalls at the Cantina Mercante located at the ground floor of the Hotel. I will surely book again at this hotel, when i come back to Vigan.

This is a new hotel situated in the center of Vigan. Great location since it’s near everything. Rooms are spacious, bigger than usual personal refrigerator which is usually not the case in other hotels. Can put in a lot of food and water. Spacious bathroom. Nice view for the room assigned to us. Price is reasonable. Also, the owners are very nice and hands-on. Will definitely check-in again next time.
