Excellent”
hotel mikado is part of a chain of business hotels in the taishi area of osaka with convenient transport links by jr to namba and umeda, subway via doubutsuenmae and nankai to the airport. based on the clientèle it seems to be now primarily aimed at tourists. having stayed in a couple of business hotels in the same area previously, hotel mikado is definitely a notch above the rest. while the room itself is typical japanese business hotel standard, the service from the staff was completely flawless and they were always friendly and helpful and in my case went far beyond what could be expected. showers are available 24 hours, there is good reliable wifi connection and no curfew. the hotel is clean and i was amazed to see every room being cleaned thoroughly including aircons in-between guests. considering the price and the quality of service, its hard not to recommend hotel mikado.

Exceptional value and super helpful staff!”
I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I found it to be such good value for money. Sure, the single rooms are small, but if, like me, that's a minor consideration, then I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. It was quiet, clean and centrally located. I prefer to walk where possible and it was only 20 mins to Namba Parks, Dotombori etc. The area could be considered a little 'dodgy' due to it being a spot where you may come across homeless people, but I felt completely safe as a solo female and had many examples of locals stepping up to help me with directions etc and found the shop owners and eateries to be so kind and friendly. I shouldn't forget to mention my favourite thing in Osaka, Spa World! It's right across the road from Hotel Mikado and was the best $10AUD I spent each day.

Highly recommended, excellent staff!”
I had a great time staying at Hotel Mikado. From the hotel, one is able to visit Osaka's main attractions easily, as it is located very close to the station. There are many convenience stores nearby which makes picking up essentials a breeze. There are also many resources available in the hotel regarding nearby attractions/landmarks and directions to them, which I thought was a nice touch. The highlight of my stay would definitely be the staff, who are very kind and willing to help if you have any questions. They keep the rooms and facilities in excellent condition, so overall I had a very comfortable stay. Would highly recommend Hotel Mikado if you're in Osaka. Thanks!

Reasonable price, safety, and good location”
I have stayed at Mikado for 3 nights. Room is clean and comfortable unless it's really small. The location of the hotel is exellent, you can get Namba station and Osaka station in brief. This hotel is suitable for backpacker, don't expect 5stars room or service.

this is such a good place for its price!! I would stay here again. It's quite hard to reach it so I suggest HOTEL MIKADO put an instruction along with photos so the guests will be able to get to it. I was just told it was 5mins away from Shinimamiya, but was never told that East exit is better than the other one. Still, it's such a good location coz it's literally very near Shinimamiya and Dobuetsun-mae stations. And there's a nearby Mega Donki!! plenty of Family Mart, too! The staff are very helpful. I just wish that since the 8th floor is for women only, they would consider putting a shower room in there, too! most of all for those staying in private single rooms!

Fantastic! ”
Value for money, great stay! The staff was really nice when we arrived earlier than their check in time so we left our luggage with them while we explore the city. The room was clean and ready for check in upon our return. The room is equipped with a tv, refrigerator, table, mini sofa etc. It's a generally well kept room. The public bath is open for each gender for specific time slots, do check the public bath out if you can. It's a fantastic experience. The hotel is located in the second row of the buildings facing exit 2 of the doubutsuenmae station. It's pretty easy to find but it can get quite quiet at night. The internet speed is also slightly slower, I can't seem to FaceTime my family back home and resorted to LINE which works from time to time. Other than that, the stay at mikado was absolutely brilliant and I would definitely go back and stay at Mikado the next time. :)

Good location and privacy of single room”
I will probably stay again in Hotel Mikado on my next trip to Osaka. Staff are nice and friendly. The hot pool and sauna provide wonderful relaxation after a long day. Shower rooms are generally clean, shower robe, towels, hair and body shampoo are provided. Extra Blanket, hair dryers, bicycles at no cost and are available from reception. Complimentary Coffee and Tea (many varieties) all day. Hot water and filtered water are available in the kitchen. Guests are free to use common facilities in the new Annex Building and Main Building (vice cersa). I witnessed many guests cooked in the kitchen. Oven and Microwave oven next to the lift on each floor. I felt homely and a warm positive vibe. The subway and airport trains are only few minutes away. Local shopping, supermarket, restaurants, salon, karaoke, etc are just a stone throw away. You can purchase small bites at very resonable prices and also a discounted fare train ticket to KIX at the reception.

Great location, friendly staffs, value for money ”
My experience of staying at Hotel Mikado was amazing. I usually hung out with other travellers at the lobby whereby we share foods, beers and stories among each others. I feeled a little sad at the time of leaving, anyway life has to keep moving on. I will come back again next time when i am in Osaka.

Top value for money. The hotels' amenities were beyond my expectations at this price. Very clean even though they were shared with other quests. Location is excellent, only 2 stops away from Namba and the hotel is only about 2 minutes walk away from the subway and the airport Nankai or JR airport lines.Would certainly stay here again the next time I am in Osaka

Value for money”
We stayed in a 4-bedroom room and it was very spacious for the 4 of us. It was a common bathroom/comfort room but we were the only people located at the ground level near the dining area. The only thing is they close between 2 am to 5 am. One time we went to Mega Don Quijote (walking distance from Hotel Mikado) we arrived 30 minutes before 2 am and we found the hostel closed. We knocked until the receptionist heard us and showed us the sign that it closes between 2 am to 5 am. So take note of that for future travelers. But overall, a pleasant stay.

Centrally located at Shinsekai”
Definitely I will stay in Hotel Mikado again if back to Osaka. Although the room is small and shared bathroom and toilet, but it is still very enjoyable while staying here. I love the public bathrooms a lot!

You get what you pay for! Friendly Staff”
Location: This hotel is located very near the Shin-Imamiya subway station. Literally 1 minute away from the exit. Very easy to locate on a map. Theres a family mart round the back and also a few cafes along the main street. Very quiet and peaceful location. In terms of other osaka attractions, this area is pretty close to those attractions (you can reach most in a few train stations, namba, tennoji etc). Facilities: The hotel is quite old. I wouldnt say dirty but its really old and has dated decor. The rooms were clean but same thing pretty old looking. As for room size it is quite narrow so opening your luggage could be an issue (part of luggage had to be slid under the bed to be layed out fully. TV and a fridge is provided in the room. Wifi service in room as well. The showers were clean though so really no gripes. Of note, showers are located on the first floor only although shared male/female toilets are available on every floor. There is also a japanese public bath on the first floor! There is a common area directly in front of the "lobby" but i never felt comfortable cooking as the area is directly facing the reception and its quite small. Staff: Staff were very friendly and quite cute =) Able to speak english relatively well. The hotel has a reception that is opened for 24 hours! Conclusion: My only gripe is the hotel looks very very dated. But overall pleasant experience with the friendly staff and very good location which minimises your travelling time.

Value for money, Very friendly and helpful staff”
It was a great pleasure to stay Mikado in Osaka. Willing to visit again for my next trip to Osaka. Very friendly and helpful staffs, good locations for food and shopping. Easy access to subways and local trains. Value for money. The only thing to point out was.. Time shift for shared bath for men. for morning time and night time, men are very much limited to use shared bath. Time adjustment of 30mins or longer for men would be much greater

Great stay experience, ideal location for exploring Osaka.”
I enjoyed my week in Hotel Mikado. I was a little wary of the location at first, but it's proximity to the subway made it a good jumping point to explore the city and the rest of the Kansai region. The facilities were adequate, but could be better - the toilets in particular. The staff is helpful and were willing to answer my questions in English. Overall, having my own room to stay in (with a good bed and free amenities such as towels) with such a low price turned out to be a great deal and I would be glad to stay here again.

I was in Osaka 2 weeks ago for vacation & sightseeing. My husband & I stayed in the Annex Hotel & our room type was Bunk Bed (good for 2) - Shared Bathroom. Didn't have problem at all with the shared bathroom & we got the room at affordable price. POSITIVE: Price was very affordable & worth it Location is really good (near some railway stations, near few tour spots (ex: Tsutenkaku Tower) Staff was friendly & very helpful (check-in is at 2pm but they let us checked-in at 11am) Cleanliness was awesome Facilities were great (esp loved the free teas & coffee) NEGATIVE: I can't think of any.. :) Also plus point for the discounted KIX Airport Express Ticket that they offer: Weekday Price: 870yen Weekend Price: 820yen

Good for Value”
My stay at Hotel Mikado was overall satisfactory. The location is great - just 1 min from Subway, 2-3 min from JR, and 5 min from Nankai Airport line. I arrived the hotel very late after midnight, and there was staff still, explaining about stay. They also have public bath on the 1st floor, which I found super cool and convenient. Soaking in the hot water after tiring walking day, it was best part of staying Mikado. One thing I can complain was the bed. It was bed frame with Japanese futon setting, but the frame was very old and in the middle of the futon was just so dipped, and I felt like I was sleeping in a very old and uncomfortable sofa. The thin wall was also minus, I could hear someone next door coughing, and flipping, and packing... Overall, I should say it was worth for money, and I would stay again if I had to. However, I rather to spend little more money and have a proper bed or futon, look around other cheap hotel/hostel options. My overall score is Good Value for Money.

Truly recommended!”
Very accessible near Tennoji zoo and shin imamiya station one ride to Kansas airport and vice versa. My family really enjoyed our stay. I was relaxed after long walks in nara, arashiyama, fushimi Inari, Gion and other attractions. Free tea and coffee and staff are very entertaining and accomodating. Thank you mikado hotel!

For travelers/tourists on a budget, Hotel Mikado is a great place to stay. There was nothing I can complain about. The staff were nice, the hotel was clean and with complete facilities, and very near to a subway station. A convenience store is also nearby. Overall, we had a comfortable stay.

It was very nice experience at Hotel Mikado. Quick check in and out. Great for budget travelers. The centre only few stops away from the subway station near Hotel. Friendly staff offered an umbrella to use. Definitely, will stay again next time I visit Osaka.
