Great Location, Very Comfortable ”
This was a great location while visiting Tenjin & Hakata areas with subway very close by. We are English speakers & it was fairly easy to navigate around and hotel staff were able to communicate with us. Rooms were comfortable with flat entry to bathroom, other Japanese hotels have a huge step up. Hotel also accommodated our group of 3 to a room. Other hotels required reserving 2 rooms. We stayed 3 nights so we didn't require cleaning every day. We just requested clean towels and our room was still straightened up. We also enjoyed buffet breakfast. My husband took advantage of massage service for sore back with good results & it was very convenient. We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Monterey La Soeur Fukuoka & will stay again when in Fukuoka.
Great location, close by to Tenjin Station”
The stay at Hotel Monterey La Soeur Fukuoka was a pleasant one. It is centrally located 5 minute walk to Tenjin Station and 10 minute walk to the main shopping area (Tenjin). Hotel was clean and the wi-fi signal in the room was strong.
Very neat Hotel at great location”
it was my 1st time to fukuoka and my main purpose of the trip was to eat and shop. my choice to stay at monterey la soeur was absoutely correct. the hotel locates at tenjin area. an area which is next to hakkata and nicer. many nice cool japanese streets, shops, department stores, restaurants, bars are just nearby! the hotel was very neat and clean, room size and cost were reasonable. i would definitely consider to stay there again during my next visit.
Clean hotel with easy access to subway”
I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in November, to attend the Karatsu Kunchi festival in Karatsu City. I flew into Fukuoka aiport and easy found my way to Hotel Monterey La Soeur Fukuoka. The closest subway station (Tenjin station) is easily accessible from the aiport, and the hotel itself is only a 2-block walk from the Parco department store exit of the subway station. The hotel staff were friendly and all spoke English (important for us American travelers). The Monterey Hotel chain is known for it's feminine decor and this location was no exception. Even the bathroom amenities (toothbrush, hairbrush, toiletries) were wrapped in pastel packaging. The room had a small cabinet to hang your jacket (could fit carry on luggage inside), empty fridge to store drinks and food, a hot water kettle and tea bags, and a LAN cable for free internet. The room was typical Japan hotel sized, so for two people, I'd recommend getting a room with 2 twin beds so you can spread your suitcases on them to access your things. A semi-double room means a double bed with a 3' walkway around it. The side street next to the hotel had food trucks at night that were very busy. We were too tired each night to give them a try, but judging by the lines, they must have been very good.
Modern and Great Service”
My family (wife, little boy, moms) and I were there for 1 nights. The Monterey La Soeur is very new, good smell and very clean. Room is small but normal in Japan. If i go to Fukuoka again, i will stay in this hotel/
Perfect for Tenjin”
Very friendly, English-speaking staff let us leave our baggage until check-in time (we were changing from another hotel) so we could go shopping. When we came back at 15:00 our bags were in our room waiting. The room was small (normal for Japan), but very comfortable. The bed was just right - could have done with more pillows, but I never requested any so I don't know if they are available. The bathroom was excellent, decor and comfort. It was very secure, access to the floors was only by elevator with your room card, and it automatically took you to the correct floor - no option to choose a different floor. I can only see this being a problem if you visit with friends and get rooms on different floors. The best point was location, right next to Tenjin and Daimyo, the best places in Fukuoka for shopping, eating and nightlife. I will definitely go back to this hotel.
Reasonable price..Nice place to stay”
Hotel monterey la soeur is a nice place to stay and it inexpensive comparing to its surrounding hotels. The room is quite nice, clean, a bit small but it's not bad by Japanese standard room. It's located right in the middle of Tenjin which very convenient. Only 20 minutes by a Taxi from Fukuoka airport and 5 minutes by foot from Tenjin Subway Station. I think this hotel is very nice and worth every penny.
Small but we could live with it”
I found the Monterey La Soeur to be on the small side even by Japanese standards. For a triple room, we got what was basically a twin room with a small fold out bed (that took up all the available space of the normal twin room). It was thus pretty cramped for a small family. Still, I was happy with the location as it was close enough for me to get onto trains and buses and the free (and fast) wifi was a definite bonus. Best of all, if you're into street food, the street outside the hotel come alive at night with food stalls set up along the entire stretch. While these stalls cater mainly to Japanese speakers, there is one stall further down the road (look for the orange and white awning) near the traffic light with English / Thai / Chinese menus hanging on the outside. This was the only street food stall that I came across in the entire Fukuoka that allowed me to 'point and order'. The great thing was, the food was excellent and it was walking distance to the hotel!
Very nice hotel at a prime location”
I stayed 6 nights at the hotel. The hotel is located beside Tenjin Subway station, only 100 meters away from the biggest shopping area of Fukuoka, and still remains quiet and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the stay and will probably come back if I visit Fukuoka again.
Very good location”
Pros - The location was really great - less than 5 minutes walking distance from Tenjin subway station and plenty of shopping centers around it - Staffs are very well trained, very helpful and kind - Breakfast is quite good - it's like a traditional Japanese buffet Cons - Price was quite high during weekends Definitely, I'll come back to this hotel for my next visit to Fukuoka !!
Great location, friendly staff and”
I stayed just one night here. Quite a new looking building and it was very clean and nice. The staff at the reception was very friendly and I knew that it would be a nice stay! My room was a corner room, so there was a bit more space and I loved how the bathroom was done (it was in green colour). All amenities were there including hair dryer and bottled water. Pyjama's were provided as well. There was a closet enough for one and plus person, They placed a removable trey on toilet tank to provide extra space for cosmetics, which is a nice touch for ladies. This hotel is located close to Subway Tenshin Station and to shopping area (Parco and other department store). At night, I found a ramen stall right across the road from the hotel and that was great! A direct bus service close to Parco to International Airport is handy even you have a lot of luggages to carry. Thank you for a nice stay, it made my last day in Fukuoka memorable!
Great Area of Fukuoka, ave room, Excellent staff”
The room was a little pricey, and I thought it would be a nicer, bigger room than others we had stayed in Japan. This was not the case. the room was very small. Three beds jammed into the room, and very little space to walk around, and not able to even leave you suit case open. HOWEVER, we figured out WHY this place was more expensive. It is in the heart of a raging nightlife scene in Fukuoka. Tenjin area has TONS of shopping, dining, and casinos (pachinko), and was a very spirited and fun environment for those who want fun times to go out. This was why is was so pricey compared to another place we stayed in Fukuoka. Another place, close to Hakata station, was clean, and had a big room, and comfortable beds cost half as much, but its location had not much around to fun. So it all depends on what you are looking for in a place to stay.
Near Tenjin Station”
First time for me to stay here in Fukuoka and I chose this hotel chain because I stayed in Osaka before and very much appreciated. Room is nice and beautiful. Space is enough for my family with kid. Location is also ok. 10 minutes walk to Tenjin station. However, I do think this hotel is located too middle of everything which means you have to walk to subway station, bus station, coffee shop, etc. But overall, I am happy with the hotel.
Comfortable nice hotel”
Although the room is not very big, it is still acceptable for a Japan Hotel. Very nice interior design of the hotel lobby and esculator and the room. Very special design making us feel like we were actually living in a garden. modern style hotel, the staffs are very considerate, as we forgot to remove the do not disturb card before we went out, after a long day we went back to the hotel and we found a big bag outside our room door. The cleaning staffs put all the new changing stuffs like toothbrushes, some towels in the bag and not dare to disturb us. They are so sweet! moreover, The hotel is just one mins walks to Tenjin Station Exit one, go out from Exit1 then turn right go straight you will see the hotel. A 5 mins walk to many famous department stores and there are lots of eating shops around. they eating shops open until late night, this is good for those who do crazy shopping to put down all stuffs in the room then go down eating there.
Can easily access most of the shops and eateries around the area in Tenjin. The Tenjin underground street was also very close by, so even if during rainy weathers, you can always just pop into the underground walkway which takes you to most of the places you need to go within Tenjin. The room was adequate in size - definitely bigger than any average Japan hotel rooms. I was satisfied with my experience in the hotel and would recommend it to fellow travellers.
This hotel is literally steps away from many of the night yatais! Must try the yaki ramen, and the yaki toris! Many of these yatais are always crowded, but ppl will also find some way to squeeze you in! The hotel is also about 30 steps away from tejin station and about a 10 minute walk to canal city. 10-15 minutes the opposite direction is the fukuoka fish market where you can get great sushi for much much cheaper than in the restaurants! The rooms are a bit small, but apparently, thats just japan. THe bathrooms seemed refurbished and was stocked with all amentities needed! awesome. Would definitely stay here again!
Great hotel, fantastic location”
I've become a fan of the Monterey chain after using two of them on my trip to Japan. The rooms are nicely decorated, the location was excellent. Lots of department stores around so if you want to shop you're set but that also means if you want to eat, there's lots of restaurants in the department stores. It was very convenient for us once we figured out the layout of the neighborhood. If you're north american, there's a Citi bank behind the hotel so you can withdraw money from the ATM.
We stayed 6 nights. Here are the highlights of this hotel: excellent breakfast buffet with big selection, including fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, meats, rice, breads, pastries, cereal, and many drink options. If you are a big breakfast eater, it is definitely worth it to add the breakfast to your room cost when you book. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are spacious (by Japanese hotel standards) and full of amenities, and the staff is very courteous and professional. If you want to be in this part of Tenjin, this is the hotel to book!
First time in Tenjin, Fukuoka but we had a good location with this hotel. Very close to the Chikagai Tenjin station and restaurants in the area. French inspired hotel and friendly staff.
Great location to experience Tenjin & Fukuoka”
The room was good along with its standard facilities (western style automatic toilet, stove heater, etc). Smoking room are obviously smells, but that day I don't have any other choices. I didn't choose the breakfast offer but generally since it's located in Tenjin, there were many options of food outside (yatais, convenience stores, fast food restaurants, cafe, department stores, you name it). The hotel was also easily accessed by metro trains and buses.
