Hotel Morinokaze Oshuku
If you want to experience an onsen hotel this is a good choice! It's a big hotel, not a traditional ryokan for sure, but my japanese style room was wonderful with a great view over the countryside. The dinner was a delicious multi-course meal on both evenings and the buffet style breakfast had a lot of Japanese and western options. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and gave a nice personal touch to my stay. Special thanks to the staff at the restaurant. Also the onsen was nice and clean and it was very relaxing to be at the outdoors pools. The biggest negative side was the location, especially if you travel with public transport. The hotel is not very far away from Morioka city but the public bus was inconvenient with no space for luggage and you have to know where to ask the driver to stop. With a private car, or if the hotel shuttle bus fits your schedule this wouldn't be a problem. Also the nearby villages seemed half abandoned and most of the business there were closed
