Excellent place to meet foreigners and locals”
I stayed now three times in this hotel and due of the very friendly employees and service I will always book this hotel in Ambon. Excellent value for money and a great meeting place. There is a well known fish restaurant at less than 100 meter from the hotel. It is not a luxury hotel, it needs to renovate the rooms, but it was a convenient stay again at Hotel Mutiara

A comfort place to stay with reasonable price”
the room not really spacious, but sufficient enough for a solo traveler with short period of stay. the people are friendly and helpful. they also provide fast break and supper (sahur) in room during ramadhan month. i got chicken porridge for supper and it's delicious, indeed!! although the size is too large for my meal. the location is at the city, and close to many government offices, which suitable if you're having a business trip around the city of ambon. however, you're not allowed to have guest in your room. so, the meeting should be at the lobby. unfortunately, the exhaust fan in my bathroom is noisy and the tv didn't have any remote control. anyway, i have a nice stay there at the reasonable price

Disappointing”
It is by far the most disappointing experience I've had while staying in a hotel in Ambon. The room is okay but the AC is old and needs to be turned on manually every time I entered the room of after a power shortage, and there was mildew under it as well. The bathroom was cleaned everyday, but one day the staff somehow forgot to leave new towels after taking the used ones. The worst experience of all was with the breakfast. First of all, the selection is very limited. I've ever stayed in a cheaper hotel in Ambon that offered a much better selection for breakfast than in this hotel. Even I had to pay for mineral water if I ever want some while having breakfast. Also, my friend and I found out on our second day staying there that toast and omelet is not part of the standard breakfast there. And since he can't eat fish, which was served with nasi uduk and sauted vegetable, reluctantly he decided to pay for some toasts and omelet. The next day was even worse. There was no buffet served, and we could only order one portion from the given menu selection. Being unaware of that, my friend ordered toasts and two-egg omelet, and later he was charged for the extra "portion of omelet". Upon checking out, my friend argued about the extra charge, so the receptionist decided not to charge it in order to avoid further argument about it. But still, it was very annoying that the hotel nickel and dime their customers that way.

Old Hotel”
First I stayed in this hotel was in early 90’s... while last time on April’18... The room, furnitures, and decoration.... just felt the same... I believe the bed was used since 90’s as well... The pillow... is just... too old I guessed... kinda hard to sleep with... But at least... with such price... I get some “okey” breakfast.... (fried rice, chicken porridge with toppings, and bread-butter) while other hotel with relatively same price, only provides bread-butter-jam.. Recommended for old people for nostalgic stay...

The hotel with no beer”
The staff at this hotel were very unhelpful. Couldn't help with any simple requests. I travelled without an adapter (my bad) but they could not organise one. The hotel bar had run out of all drinks and despite suggesting they go buy some so I can help them profit. Hopeless hotel.

Einfaches Stadthotel in strategisch zentraler Lage.”
Zugegeben, das Mutiara wirkt, als habe es seine besten Jahre hinter sich und eine Auffrischung täte dem Hotel nicht schlecht. Der Fernsehempfang war eher verrauscht, die Möblierung etwas altbacken, das Frühstück sehr einfach (Nasi goreng, Bubur Ayam oder Toast mit Ei), aber für ein paar Tage Stadtaufenthalt vor oder nach der Weiterreise stimmt das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Sehr nettes Personal und die Lage um die Ecke vom zentralen Merdeka-Platz lassen einen über viele Details hinweg schauen und ein kulturell engagierter Besitzer, der auch das Open Air Maluku-Festival in Ambon (freier Eintritt!) direkt vor dem Hotel einmal im Jahr organisiert, sei hier besonders zu erwähnen. Tolle Sache! Mit ein paar Verbesserungen (Fernseher reparieren, SAFE (!!) im Zimmer (war in der Rezeption überfüllt!), und man wäre gewappnet für den Konkurrenzkampf mit den vielen neueren Hotels in der Umgebung. Charme um wieder etwas Besonderes zu werden hat das Hotel allemal ... WENN man etwas tut!
