Location, location, location!”
So close to the marina, you can jump in and swim with the dolphins from your balcony. Just a short stroll through the arcade, which is practically in the resort, you are in the heart of Nelson Bay. You don't even need to start your car on your whole trip as everything is under your doorstep. Great cafe at the reception of the hotel and staff so friendly. Only bummer of the trip is that we had no TV reception. The staff told us that if we had spoken up, then they would have fixed it. Never mind, they offered us a discount rate for our next visit to the resort. We will definitely go back there again one day. The whole family loved the resort and Nelson Bay is a lovely place.
Weekend away with my teenage daughter and was very happy with the hotel. Great location right in the heart of Nelson Bay. Great little coffee shop/restaurant at hotel and very much in demand as you'll see by the people lining up to get a table. Even though on main street double glass doors kept noise completely out but allowed you to take in the partial ocean views. Great facilities with gym, pool and bbq area. Can't forget to mention very comfortable bed and pillows and parking is included too. Would definitely come back to Hotel Nelson.
Perfect location for cruising the Bay”
The staff were fantastic and the room was so clean!! The beds were so comfortable and even though it's on the main road, we didn't hear any traffic at all!! It's so close to everything! When I come to Nelsons Bay again, it will definitely be The Nelson that I stay at!!!
Amazing hotel with friendly staff”
An excellent hotel to stay in. Exceptionally friendly staff and fantastic restaurant (Little Nels). Standard room is really big and balcony is always a plus! Pool is great but we spent most of our time at the beaches! Location is excellent for getting around Nelson bay. No complaints.
Not my idea of a "resort", but definitely a lovely motel”
Not my idea of a "resort", but definitely a lovely Motel with pool and top notch restaurant. Would recommend to anyone for a stay in Nelson Bay and will stay there again myself. Staff were lovely and didn't mind that I left my car parked there after checkout whilst we went down to the Marina for the morning, which I thought was quite nice of them.
Comfortable and well located”
We had a lovely room close to lots of restaurants, shops and the marina. The room was very comfortable with good facilities for preparing snacks in the kitchen. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay at Nelson Bay for a night or longer.
Great location, comfortable stay!”
Superb location within walking distance to the marina. Hotel breakfast was amazing at The Little Nelson. Rooms are clean, but walls are thin and we could hear people talking next door in the middle of the night. There were some ants crawling near the door when we checked-in as well. The washroom is huge, water pressure is good. Reception staff was nice and helpful. Gym was well-maintained. Will stay here again!
Clean spacious room 2 min from Nelson Bay”
Room that we got was clean and newly renovated 2 years ago. There was free parking at the premise and you can walk to Nelson Bay if you want to dine out or take the dolphin/whale cruise.
Great hotel room and location”
hotel location is centralized and the family suite is nice and spacious. my son loved the room very much. however, it would be great to have a lift for the 3 levels as it is rather challenging to climb the stairs to 3rd floor with big luggages. overall great stay in nelson lodge!
Great location, staff & experience”
Great experience. There was a misunderstanding with our room booking, but the manager was great & offered is a discounted bfast. They are in the process of renovations but it didn't seem to affect us getting around and using the facilities. I would highly recommend visiting The Nelson.
Clean, lovely and spacious 3 bedroom appartment.”
the resort comes with a heated pool, a tennis court and cooking facilities. the rooms are spacious and clean, with cool adjoining balconies. plus, it is located extremely near the beach where you can book tours for port stephens and within walking distance of numberous places to eat. a very reasonably priced resort!
Perfect location for one night stay at Nelson Bay with a fantastic view and amazing food from the restaurant The Little Net! Really enjoyed my stay there!
Will be back to stay. Great location and very very clean. Staff were great and the Cafe - to die for. Great for couples and families. Couldn't speak more highly of The Nelson Resort.
Retiree travellers 👴🏻👵🏻”
This was our 3rd stay at The Nelson, in a great position in town the Little Nel cafe below for great breakfasts and lunches and just across the road from the Marina, shops, park, restaraunts etc
Small but facilitated ”
we spent two night in Nelson resort, the location is good and close to the pier to those dolphin and whale tours. spacious room with dvd player, small kitchen and nice shampoo and bath gel. however there is no bath tube in room, it is the only thing not good to me. overall is above good.
Great location with clean rooms”
The hotel is located near the port and is within minutes of walking distance to the port. It is also easily accessible to various amenities such as the supermarket and dining facilities. The rooms are clean and bright with 24hr check-in. Honestly, nothing to complain about!
Good service and great food”
+ Would definitely recommend this resort: Great location as it was very near (just opposite) the bay, good service from the night check-in reception staff, great breakfast and lunch at The Little Nel (would definitely recommend guests to eat there), plenty of bars and restaurants that are open at night, spacious apartment (thankful to be upgraded to a 2-bedroom apartment). - Had booked the resort because it says "24 hours check-in allowed" and was expecting the reception to be opened 24 hours. However, we had to call the night reception service when we arrived as the reception had closed at 8.30pm. It was a problem for us as we did not have a local phone line. It was all good after that when we managed to make the call. Check-in was smooth and staff was very helpful. - Toilet floor was dirty and greasy.
A bit pricy for size of room.”
On our recent road trip north The Nelson was comparatively expensive but we still enjoyed our stay.
A cosy stay at Nelson Bay”
We got the family suite though it's only 2 of us. There is no seaview, but it's close to eateries and shops nearby. The nearest grocery store is Coles Express, approx. 5mins walk from the hotel. It has limited options. However, there is a Woolworths supermarket that is under construction - hope it will be ready soon. The hotel has a lift (from level 1 to 3) for people with disabilities, not to worry. The hotel is also very near the Bay Area where you can get onto a ship to watch Dolphins etc, love it!
Good location ”
This hotel is in a good location close to the marina. Reception staff were good and the 1 bed apartment was adequate but nothing special. Free parking and Foxtel. The wifi was very patchy. An ok option, not sure it was worth the drive up the headland on our trip from Sydney to Brisbane. Fingal bay was very pretty.
