Hotel with the works!”

Great location - close to trains and restaurants Spacious rooms, including triple rooms for those traveling with kids Grocery store in the hotel Friendly, helpful staff
Use of the swimming pool is seasonal - we missed out by a day! Brakfast buffet is mediocre and very expensive.

We stayed at the New Otani with our 3 year-old and loved it! It was one of the only hotels we could find in Tokyo that offered a triple room with separate bed for a reasonable price. The room itself was spacious, with a separate living area and bathroom - even a heated toilet seat! Eating out in Tokyo is very expensive, so we stocked up at the little supermarket downstairs in the hotel and ate breakfast in our room - they had everything from pastries to sushi. We were very disappointed at not being able to use the pool - apparently it is closed at a certain time each year, despite the fact that the weather was sunny and mild. Check this before you book. The breakfast buffet was also very ordinary - everything tasted a bit stale and it was extremely expensive - we only ate there once! Overall, this is a wonderful deluxe hotel in the heart of Tokyo - huge, but friendly - and in a great position for cafes and train stations. If you're travelling as a couple or with kids, you'll find it a great option.

Very nice hotel, kind service, very tidy, nice room”

Good location, close to Metro station (Akasaka mitsuke)

This was our first trip to Tokyo and therefore the first stay at The New Otani. Easy transfer from Narita Airport with Airport Limousine Bus directley to the hotel (3000 Yen per Person), early check-in, very nice reception. The room was from an adequate size, very tidy, calm. The hotel is located next to Akasaka mitsuke Metro Station. The booking via Agoda easy and absoltutly reasonably priced. The perfect hotel for our absolutely perfect stay in this amazing city!

Biggest hotel i've ever seen!”

Japanese Garden Close to underground system 42inch TV in the room Awesome views
Have to pay to use the tennis courts and fitness area (there are 2 free gyms in separate towers though :) so not really a con) Restaurants expensive

The hotel New Otani was great! The staff were so friendly and organised. We received a great deal on agoda.com... which ended up being cheaper than the 3star crack-den flight center had arranged. It's really close to Akasaka where there is plenty of shopping and eating to be done. The underground is also very close, and it's a very short trip to Shibuya and a little longer for Harajuku. One way tickets were about 130yen which is less than $2. Great hotel, great little gym in the garden tower with views over Akasaka.

Fabulous traditional hotel with great service ”

Wonderful staff, convenient location, great views over Tokyo, Japanese gardens

the new otani tokyo is a traditional and slightly old-fashioned hotel which offers great service with spacious and comfortable rooms. the staff made us feel extremely welcome and did their utmost to help us with our queries. we enjoyed the fabulous views over tokyo from our room, and took time to visit the historic japanese gardens on the hotel grounds. there is an array of restaurants and shops within the hotel. the two restaurants we tried were unfortunately a little expensive and with disappointing food, but the service was excellent.

New Otani Hotel Experience”

Nice relaxed feel in a quality enviroment. Plenty of restaurants, bars in the complex. Efficient staff.
Non

I've stayed at the New Otani Hotel in Tokyo twice now, both times the experience has been very positive, from the professionalism of the staff to the relaxed atmosphere of the whole complex. It has a number of restaurants (even outside in the gardens there are 2 restaurants) and bars. Trader Vics is an American chain of quality resaurants, they offer a good buffet lunch on Sundays, ask for a window seat when you book for great views of the gardens and lake. The rooms are nicely fitted out, especially in the Main, this last time I stayed in the Tower on the 35th floor. Nice room with good views of the city. Taxis are available, though you are only 2 minutes walk from the metro, so its easy to head out to explore. Asakasa is only 5 minutes walk, plenty of cafes, restaurants, bars to explore. I would recommend it because its not an international chain, it has a good feel to it. Stay and Enjoy !!!

New Otani Tokyo”

The view of the Akasaka Gardens and the amenities the hotel had to offer. The bathroom was larger and nicer than most Japanese hotels. Staff are exemplary.
The bed was unfortunately Japan-style sheetrock hard. I'm not used to being charged for coffee in the morning! Also, my flight to Japan was delayed by one day (after we had already boarded at LAX!) and my first night's stay by Agoda could not be cancelled although I called as soon as I found out.

On our first two days at the New Otani we were curious about the stern-looking policemen on every floor and every few meters surrounding the hotel. Turns out that Russian heads of state were also being quartered at the hotel, and when they left, the scores of Japanese policemen also left. Our view on the 27th floor of Akasaka Palace was enjoyable and invigorating, and the maid's service was outstanding. I wish there had been available a double/King bed for me and my husband, but we adjusted to the two twin beds to stay on a non-smoking floor. The garden is worth a visit. I was pleased at the many restaurants friendly to foreigners in Akasaka, just a few blocks away. There was also a close by 24 hour Fed Ex/Kinko's for business.

New Otani Experience - Tokyo”

All of the staff were excellent, helpful pleasant, and well informed re travel around Tokyo. Location was central to all Tokyo areas. Number of restaurants
The lobby restaurant was closed for drinks in evening 5-6 pm while they set up for dinner. Probably a small area could be set aside for drinks during this period.

From the moment of our arrival late on the Sunday evening we were made to feel welcome in the New Otani Tokyo. The hotel presents a relaxing yet exciting place to stay in the centre of Tokyo in the Akasaka district. I will glady stay again on my next Tokyo visit.

Value for money, as usual.”

This is at least my third time at the New Otani. I got a triple for my wife, son and myself. The room came with three beds and a sitting room. There was enough room for us not to be tripping over each other. It's not every hotel that offers such accommodation. Besides the spacious triple, the hotel boasts a great number of restaurants not only in the hotel but also in its basement arcade. The service is also always courteous and helpful. The only drawback of this hotel is its somewhat isolated location. However, this can be cured by a short walk to the nearest subway station Akasaka-Mitsuke. The Ginza line takes you directly to shopping and entertainment areas of Omotesando, Shibuya and Ginza.

Second Stay at Hotal New Otani Tokyo.”

Friendly Enviornment, Multitude of internal shops/restaurants, Room layout excellent, Japanese Garden beautiful
Arcade FLR(B2 with more shops and restaurants) layout somewhat confusing.

Before this stay, I stayed there once in 2005 and with Keio booked full for Christmas 2010, I decided Otani was a great alternative. Airport Limo bus service leaves regularly and after checkout, they have temp luggage storage. For example, check-out 12pm, schedule 5pm bus to Narita Airport, you can explore Tokyo or do whatever till then. There are a multitude of internal stores and restaurants in the hotel and even an art gallery. Their Japanese Garden is also top notch. A must visit attraction for the hotel. Overall Hotel New Otani was a great hotel with excellent service, friendly staff, and a great atmosphere.

hard to find a luxury hotel for this price in toky”

location, location, location; price; service
very large and a little impersonal

The first thing worth pointing out about the New Otani is its location: Akasaka-Mitsuke, about 100m to the Mitsuke metro station and about 300m to the Nagatacho metro station, two of the most central and convenient metro stations in Tokyo. It's also a short walk to Roppongi, the Imperial Palace park and lots of other interesting central Tokyo locales. This must be one of the largest hotels in Japan, and it feels that way immediately: the place is the size of a small city, and it's easy to get lost. From our room, it took two elevators and a could-be-shorter stroll through several lobbies and corridors just to get to the front door. The service was impeccable, however, and the room was comfortable, well decorated and very clean. I don't know of another hotel in its class in Tokyo for the same price.

Their service is always great so whenever I visit Tokyo I try to stay at Hotel New Otani. I love their Japanese garden because not only because it's beautiful but also there are some cats there! They live in the garden and they are often chilling in the bush. :3 There is a restaurant called Ninja Akasaka near the hotel. I recommend that you go! This place is also my favourite!

New Otani Hotel and Akasaka”

The Hotel has newly refurbished rooms, Spacious and I like the room as it overlooked the Garden. It is definitely my favourite Hotel in Tokyo.
Hardly anything that I dislike.

It was late May and my favourite time of the year. The weather was fine and I had to use the umbrella only twice. I always enjoy the beef curry and rice in the hotel cafe. The pilaf seafood rice too is my favourite. I stay at the New Otani Akasaka as a ritual in my Visit to Tokyo. I won't miss visiting the Garden and the waterfall. Its a beautiful hotel perfect fot Business meetings and Pleasure.

Excellent hotel experience!”

Conveniently located with a short walk to several train stations! Beautiful garden.
None.

The New Otani Hotel was great. Very clean, helpful staff, and incredibly convenient with a short walk to several train stations. We had a very busy itinerary so the convenience of the train stations was important and very helpful. The Concierge service was fantastic - they were always so friendly and their English was great. I really appreciated thier complimentary maps - they were individual xeroxes of each specific neighborhood...i.e., they had a map for their Akasaka area (including retaurant listings), Shibuya, Ginza, Ometasando/Harajuku, etc. This was very helpful for organizing our daily itinerary. I would highly recommend this hotel to friends.

Excellent Facilities with great location”

Good value for money and has a wide choice of restaurants

The New Otani Hotel is an excellent 5* hotel with a great choice of restaurants for its guests. In fact there are too many to choose from. It is very conveniently located to Akasaka Station - only a 3 minute walk away - and is also within walking distance to all the outlets at Akasaka. Akasaka is really quite thriving during the weekday though it is fairly quiet on the weekends. Room size was decent. Only negative is that the Business Centre is not 24 hours.

New Otani Review”

Location, location, location perfect.
None that are note worthy.

In addition to the location of the hotel we were pleased by the size of the rooms, large by Japanese standards. The room was clean with all the amenities one would expect from a five star hotel. The internet and telephone worked fine and our view was excellent. Again, the location of the hotel is perfect as virtually anything within central Tokyo is easily reachable. There are many excellent resturants in the neighborhood. Overall, we were very pleased wit hour stay and would definitely consider staying at the New Otani again on our next visit to Tokyo later this year.

Excellent room - good size and clean, complimentary water bottles. The bed and pillows were very good.
None to report.

The New Otani is a large hotel in Akasaka. It is well located to most business operating in the Central Tokyo area, and is also close to Shibuya, Shijuku, and Roppongi. There are many places to eat within easy walking distance from the hotel. This hotel would be suited to both business travellers and holiday makers alike.

A little distance to public transportation, especially to JR Line.

My second stay at New Otani Tokyo. The quality of services are exactly as same as it was in 2001. The room in the tower building is a little old, but still nice, safe and clean. All staff are friendly and willing to help assisting to all requests. It is more conveniece for those who want to make a business trip rather than leisure as it takes sometimes to walk to public transportations; Subway-10 minutes and JR Lines-15 to 20 minutes.

One of the Grande Dames of Tokyo Hotels”

Enormous, well-known, 15 restaurants, great service, large rooms (for Tokyo)

we really enjoyed our stay at the new otani, and the location is brilliant. we also got a great rate on agoda, which made this otherwise expense-account only hotel good for a family weekend holiday. it's close to the subway, all taxi drivers know it (a rarity in tokyo), and there are a mind-boggling 15 restaurants inside the hotel. while the rooms are showing their age, they're generously-sized and have views of the gorgeous gardens below. this really is a fantastic place to stay in tokyo, if not as up-to-date luxurious as the four seasons / peninsula / mandarin crowd.

I have stayed 4times now in New Otani Tokyo hotel, garden view is awesome, also oversees the imperial Palace. Even continental breakfast spread is extensive. Only negative is the poor fitness centre which seems to be just afew bedrooms converted into a fitness room. For such a luxury hotel and 400rooms and above should consider a proper fitness centre which business travelers appreciates!

Quick walk from both the JR and subway - making any part of Tokyo easy to access. Beautiful Japanese Yen Garden steps from the room. Spacious, clean and comfortable rooms with some English cable channels. Beautiful view from room - could see Mt. Fiji on some days. Variety of shops on-site, as well as restaurants. Staff is helpful and courteous.
Matress a tad firm for those who enjoy softer beds.

We stayed at the hotel for a week in April 2009. It was a great hotel, would definitely stay again. The staff is very helpful and courteous. They do everything to make your stay pleasant - from carrying bags to having a competitive currency exchange rate at the front desk to a staff that delivers extra blankets and towels. rode the JR train with the Yotsuya station about a 7 minute walk - super convenient. The rooms were vary comfortable and spacious with excellent views of the garden, the city and even Mount Fiji. Hotel New Otani is a great choice and contributed to a very memorable and enjoyable trip in Tokyo.
