Staff and Air-conditioning Killed the Joy of My Stay”
The hotel as a building and location is very good. I booked a deluxe room, to which I paid a higher price to get the pool view. When I went there, they told me that the pool was closed for maintenance and water was sucked out of the pool. So, I paid extra for nothing. When I asked for another room, staff at the reception were helpless and border-line rude and had no authority. They told me to wait until after the weekend when their manager comes back so she can decide if they can change my room. I then went to sleep, and the room was boiling hot. I could not control the heating/air-conditioning from my room. When I went back to the reception to ask about this, they said that heating is centralized across the hotel and since it was April, they would not operate the conditioning and that there is nothing they can do. Again very helpless. I could not sleep in the room, it was too hot and I was suffocating. That experience ruined my stay at the hotel.
Amazing food at the restaurant!!
Ambiente, Sauberkeit und Service top. Wellnessbereich entspricht nicht 5-Sternehotel. Frühstück ausbaufähig.
Beating the hustle and bustle of Thessaloniki”
We booked this hotel for one night before flying out of Thessaloniki for a more relaxed final night in the city. We had stayed for two nights in an Air B&B in the centre but found it all quite chaotic. The Hotel Nikopolis seemed to fit the bill. The hotel itself is really big, with sprawling hallways and corridors leading to the rooms. The room itself was larger than the average European hotel room and included a huge balcony with views out onto the gardens. The room itself was very modern and the bed super comfortable. The only complaint about the room was the air condition (or lack of). The hotel management had decided that October is no longer 'summer' and turned all the air conditioning units to 'winter' mode, so they can only blow hot air. We originally thought our unit was broken, but were informed it was intentional. At mid to high 20's, we really did want the air conditioner on. We had the buffet breakfast in the restaurant the next morning. The restaurant, as the rest of the hotel, is huge, though it was nearly empty when we were there. The selection was broad and interesting, though quite a lot of the food had been left to go cold. All in all, a decent place if you are looking for somewhere to relax near the airport and outside of central Thessaloniki.
Just decent for the money”
For a 5-star hotel there wasn't some very basic things in the room that are typically standard like coffee maker or iron. Staff was pleasant but not quick to help or guide tired travelers like many of the much lower rated hotels we have stayed at in Greece. Unless you stay at hotels just for their pools I would skip this place.
Gutes Hotel ”
