Our favorite hotel in the entire world”
This was our second trip to Hotel Okada, it was the least expensive in Hakone that serves kaiseki dinners in your room, which we highly recommend at least once on your visit. The dinner buffet was also spectacular, with so many options. Ditto for breakfast, enormous selection of food and drinks. The onsens are not to be missed, try and plan to have one day where you don't go out except in your yukata to the adjoining onsen. They have a restaurant you can have lunch in afterwards where you go in your bare feet! Cash only. Find the bus for 100 yen which takes you right to the hotel, route A I believe. No laundry facilities (or anywhere nearby from what I understand) but you don't wear anything but your robe here.

A group of 3”
This Ryokan was amazing! I have stayed in many ryokans and this is one of the top picks. The room was extremely roomy, each section of the room was sectioned off neatly. The bath was separated from the toilet and they both were separate from the bathroom sink. There is a section with chairs for lounging and it overlooks the river flowing through. The sound of water rushing down the rocks was really pleasant to the ears. We purposely left the window open just to hear nature flowing through (only if this is your thing). During dinner, they would set your room up for bed time. This was also a good time for us to soak in the hot spring. Unfortunately for us, it was a bit of a trek to get to. This ryokan is huge!! They have two different types of onsen for us to play in, personally i liked the one further away. The set up was really beautiful. Dinner and Breakfast was buffet style, the food was really good quality and there was many varieties.

Beautiful room with a private bath ”
I loved the room that we booked! The western room beds were comfortable and had a comfortable sitting space and also an outdoor sitting area. With a private bath that is constantly filled and warm! The window is able to open to let the cold air come in and soak with a view. The food was wonderful too and the staff was really friendly and polite.

Great Authentic Japanese Experience”
Great hotel in a cool little town, but be warned the staff does not speak much English. Rented a room with the private outdoor onsen which was beautiful. The food in the buffet is decent but a little over priced. If you don't opt for the included meal there are lots of little restaurants and shops to check out at the near by station. Probably one of the highlights of our Japan trip!

Good but improvement could be made”
I was first assigned to a room wich I was told was of the "same type" as the one I booked (Suisai 42sqm), but the bath was smaller and not round (had a terrace on the other hand). Since we were 4 people, we wanted the larger round bath so I complained to the front desk, which was able to switch us since the people who were assigned to the room in the pictures did not arrive yet. Keep in mind that this might not always be the case. The public baths are really nice but : - foot bath closes too early (9pm) - Yu no Sato's last admission is at 10pm, leaving you with the less good Okada public bath. - in the morning, Yu no Sato has its last admission at 8:30 (have to be out by 9am). - check out is too early (10am) -the karaoke forces you to buy all you can drink at 3500円, which is not worth it if you come after bathing (closes at midnight). The hotel could improve drastically by extending the Yu no Sato time and allowing for later checkout.

Booked hotel again due to attached Onsen. Check in & out was smooth but check out time at 10am is very early! Room per pics but slightly rustic. Buffet breakfast is a good add on if you are too lazy to venture out.

Expensive”
Hotel is outdated and rundown. Children DONT stays for free. They charged me 20,000 yen for my 6 yo son sharing bed with us. Stay away from this hotel.

Above average”
Didn’t enjoy our stay here due to the fact that we were given a smoking room which was very discoloured and smelled very bad of smoke. The hotel staff said they could move us but only if we paid an additional cost. Overall, feel it was very expensive for a very run down room. Make sure before booking which room has been selected - lesson learned.

Three teen boys +”
The Hakone area was a great finish to our visit which began in Shinjuku Tokyo. The hotel is a little older, but clean and the room very spacious. The staff have limited English, but worked hard to assist us and were great. I choose this location as a way to get out of the big city, and because I (mom) love the spa. This was our first trip to Japan, so the hardest part for me was figuring out the transportation. Before arriving, I'd reserved the Odakyu Romance car online from Shinjuku to Hakone Yamoto, then purchased the boarding pass when in Shinjuku. Since we'd fly home afterward, we choose a Shinkansen from Odawara to Shinigawa, then transferred to the JR Narita Express; we bought those tickets also in Shinjuku when we first arrived. You can take train or bus from Hakone Yamoto to Odawara, and the hotels in the area share a shuttle with frequent pickups during the day to/from Hakone Yamoto for Y100 per person. The Odakyu Hakone 2 or 3 day pass is perfect for getting around the area and gave us discounts at some of the sights we visited. My teens enjoyed the outdoor experiences; I wish we had spent more time at Gora Park to do one of the hands-on crafts, but there's simply too much to do in the area. The Hotel Okada breakfast had plenty of variety and for dinner we just went to a little place downstairs for ramen, yakatori, and gyoza. The boys loved it and we definitely stayed busy. They have free Wi-Fi, even though we'd rented a WiFi spot for the week, and there's a market and bakery just a short walk down the road to satisfy the teen munchies.

Wonderful Onsen; Okay Accommodations”
Ryokan in Hakone can be extremely pricey, so Hotel Okada worked with our budget for this particular Hakone visit. We were traveling with family who were visiting us in Japan, so there was no need for romance and private in-room dining --- something that Hakone ryokan are known to do best. As I booked, I noted that Hotel Okada had affordable rooms, onsen, a meal option and seemed to be close to the main station and shopping. Rooms: plain and out-dated... If you do not smoke, please request the non-smoking room as your room may smell quite noticeably of smoke. However, for the price... it's on par. Onsen: quite beautiful! Multiple hot spring pools. Clear directions for first time onsen users. Truly a beautiful set-up. Meals: The hotel offered a dinner buffet which was included in our booking price. I thought the variety was good: a mix of Japanese and western food. Nothing fancy, but again... it matched the price that you paid. Location: Hakone is hilly and Hotel Okada is up the hill... a hike. However, the shuttle is fairly timely and will take you to and from the station. If you want to have a family trip to Hakone or are on a budget when visiting Japan, Hotel Okada is a good choice.

Lovely hotel in a quiet corner of Hakone”
for a first-timer to hakone, hotel okada is an excellent choice for it is conveniently located near to hakone yumoto stn & has a shuttle bus (yen100) that runs between the stn to the hotel. even if you miss the last shuttle run (at 6pm), you still can walk to the hotel (10-15mins walk) and it is quite a pleasant and cooling walk for me. okada spotted a nice location besides the river. the exterior & interior decor are very jap, just what i was lookng for to experience. i book the jap style accomo, sleeping in futon (fortunately the staff already made up the futon for us) and walking on tatami floor in the room, enjoying tea over the jap table setting, all adds on to a truely jap experience. i tried in indoor and outdoor onsen too, not a big onsen pool but was a good experience. the hotel staff are very helpful too and they truely maintain this hotel clean and tidy. certainly worth the stay! only thing i find that hotels in hakone generally can improve on is the check-in and check-out time. check-in at 3pm (after a long journey there) is tiring, and moreover having to checkout by 10am is just too early! but we can leave our lugguage at the conceige and continue sight-seeing till late.

Convenient Location, Reasonable price with spacious room ”
Have bought a Okakyu Hakone pass and stayed in the Hakone area for 2D1N. This hotel is around 5mins bus ride (100yen)from the Hakone-Yumoto Station, after dropping the luggage, I could walk back to the Station in 15mins , with trees, rivers and small shops on the street. The hotel has a large restaurant and my package included both dinner and breakfast buffet( both western and jap style food), yet the plates & utensils looked a little old to me. There are two spacious onsen area, one at the top floor of the hotel (24hr)and the other one is around 100m away(closed ard 11pm).The senyu room has its own bathroom( bath tub) and toilet, with a small living room, recommended for travelers who do not prefer shared bathroom. Staff I met ( a girl at lobby reception and a gentleman at restaurant front desk)were friendly and polite.
