Good but improvement could be made”
I was first assigned to a room wich I was told was of the "same type" as the one I booked (Suisai 42sqm), but the bath was smaller and not round (had a terrace on the other hand). Since we were 4 people, we wanted the larger round bath so I complained to the front desk, which was able to switch us since the people who were assigned to the room in the pictures did not arrive yet. Keep in mind that this might not always be the case. The public baths are really nice but : - foot bath closes too early (9pm) - Yu no Sato's last admission is at 10pm, leaving you with the less good Okada public bath. - in the morning, Yu no Sato has its last admission at 8:30 (have to be out by 9am). - check out is too early (10am) -the karaoke forces you to buy all you can drink at 3500円, which is not worth it if you come after bathing (closes at midnight). The hotel could improve drastically by extending the Yu no Sato time and allowing for later checkout.
Beautiful room with a private bath ”
I loved the room that we booked! The western room beds were comfortable and had a comfortable sitting space and also an outdoor sitting area. With a private bath that is constantly filled and warm! The window is able to open to let the cold air come in and soak with a view. The food was wonderful too and the staff was really friendly and polite.
Hotel room was large. Sakura floor was nice as provide yukata of choices. Nail polish and incenses too! Just don’t know why the hot water was cut off at 9am in our room during checkout day, which is quite crazy!
Great hotel to relax and recover in. Had room with onset in it and took every opportunity to soak in it. Good room size and comfort. It's about a mile from downtown Hakone Yumoto but a short bus ride to/from hotel or nice down hill walk from the hotel.
Nice hotel, good service, great buffet. ”
Pros: - nice hotel. Close to Hakone town (5 mins by bus). - Great staffs (especially three Taiwanese young ladies. They are the ones who can speak English). - good food at the buffet. - great onsen spa both at the hotel and next door. Cons: - quite pricey. We couldn’t booked for our youngest daughter through Agoda (but we found from some other web site that the kids under 6 can stay for free). The hotel charged us quite a lot for one 6 years old kid (enough to stay at a nice hotel somewhere else). - the restaurant has problem with the ventilation. Every time going there, we need to change our clothes and took shower again.
Took my boyfriend here for our anniversary and we loved every moment ! Of course we froze our butts off in the foot bath since it was December but even yet, it was such a good experience !! Thank you hotel okada for being so amazing to us !! Love, from Hawaii
Stay at hotel Okada ”
The staff and room was excellent! Amenities were over the top! I wish there were more selections of restaurants. We didn’t make any dinner reservations (only fine dining) because we were touring and was not sure what time we would be back at the hotel. The choices were very limited. Thus the 4 stars for facilities. Another thing I would want to be improved is that I wish the hotel shuttle had more signage so we would know where to wait when we first arrived in Hakone. The worker that issued our Hakone free pass told us to wait for this bus that dropped us off on the back road of the hotel. We had to walk down a long, narrow and steep driveway to reach the hotel. After a long day on the train from Kansai Airport and the Tozan train up to Gora station and back, we were really pooped. We later learned more about the shuttle from the front desk. Thus the 4 stars for location. Other than that, I would really recommend this fabulous hotel!
Shuttle bus to the hotel is 100yen, not too far to walk if you are looking to take a stroll to the main station area where there is food/shopping. Must try the kaiseki dinner in room - prebook it! We really loved the in-room onsen, worth the price.
Beautiful hotel. Nice, comfortable and clean. Slightly confusing to get to so be prepared to show a map and address to a driver. Another location behind the building is also called Okada, so be sure to say “hotel” and not “spa” if you are taking a taxi. Would love to stay here again.
Recommendable hotel for the people who want to travel Hakone”
1. The room is clean, big and comfortable with acceptable price. Also, the room with spring onsen is very nice for the couple or family to enjoy spring onsen in a private environment. 2. The outdoor spring onsen that the hotel offered to us is nice and not far to reach. 3. The buffet dinner and breakfast are quite delicious and there are various types of food. 4. The staff are polite and nice to answer our question by english / mandarin fluently.
Such a great property to experience onset”
My boyfriend has half sleeves on each arm so the room with an outdoor bath was perfect since he was not allowed to use the public bath facilities. The kaiseki dinner was amazing and the service was superb.
Great service and comfortable room”
Convenient because there is bus stopping at entrance every 10 min (only 100 yen). Good variety of buffet options. Staffs are very friendly. Gift shop on ground floor, kids love it. Best part is the tatami style room. Its big and the mattress and blanlet are so comfy. View from the room are also great. Will definately come again
A very good experience! ”
It was a bit far from the station but guests can take a shuttle bus to get there, so the location should not be a huge issue. The service was very good and the facilities, especially the Onsen were so nice! You can experience different types of Onsen and fully relax in there. The breakfast provided was also good !The room was also great and it allowed us to spend some good time in there. The view that we could see from our room was so amazing!
Convenient Location, Reasonable price with spacious room ”
Have bought a Okakyu Hakone pass and stayed in the Hakone area for 2D1N. This hotel is around 5mins bus ride (100yen)from the Hakone-Yumoto Station, after dropping the luggage, I could walk back to the Station in 15mins , with trees, rivers and small shops on the street. The hotel has a large restaurant and my package included both dinner and breakfast buffet( both western and jap style food), yet the plates & utensils looked a little old to me. There are two spacious onsen area, one at the top floor of the hotel (24hr)and the other one is around 100m away(closed ard 11pm).The senyu room has its own bathroom( bath tub) and toilet, with a small living room, recommended for travelers who do not prefer shared bathroom. Staff I met ( a girl at lobby reception and a gentleman at restaurant front desk)were friendly and polite.
It's a family friendly hotel, staff are very friendly and helpful, the only downside is that we didn't get the traditional meal (kaseiki), it needed to be reserved, however we didn't get this option to do so from oversea, it will be a lot nicer if they do. Their buffet is ok but not superb, I do like their hot spring facilities very much though
Great onsen although a bit of a trek to reach the outdoors one. Ridiculously great rooms with big TVs, spacey shower and private onsen bath. Close enough to downtown to walk all the way there. Comfortable beds. Great breakfast buffet. They also had fruit milk for after the onsen, so + points for that.
Hotel Okada gives you access to AMAZING onsen choices, located both within the property and in the hotel right next to it (less than 5 mins stroll). If you're here for a relaxing stay with onsen access, this property is a good option. If you're feeling indulgent, pay more for the private bath so you can enjoy a hot bath in the privacy & comfort of your own room, but under the night sky! We had dinner set up in our room on our 2nd night, which was a novel and exciting experience, but the food was pretty underwhelming, it looked way better than it tasted unfortunately. Wide selection of food at the breakfast buffet. Also fun to wear the yukata within the hotel. Do note that there's a shuttle service that can take you from the main terminal to and fro the hotel, at a cost of 100yen per pax each trip though. So you need to keep change on hand for all journey to/fro the property. You'll also need to be aware of the operating timing of the shuttle service. The ride is quite pleasant though, the hotel is less than 10mins away from the main terminal.
Lovely hotel in a quiet corner of Hakone”
for a first-timer to hakone, hotel okada is an excellent choice for it is conveniently located near to hakone yumoto stn & has a shuttle bus (yen100) that runs between the stn to the hotel. even if you miss the last shuttle run (at 6pm), you still can walk to the hotel (10-15mins walk) and it is quite a pleasant and cooling walk for me. okada spotted a nice location besides the river. the exterior & interior decor are very jap, just what i was lookng for to experience. i book the jap style accomo, sleeping in futon (fortunately the staff already made up the futon for us) and walking on tatami floor in the room, enjoying tea over the jap table setting, all adds on to a truely jap experience. i tried in indoor and outdoor onsen too, not a big onsen pool but was a good experience. the hotel staff are very helpful too and they truely maintain this hotel clean and tidy. certainly worth the stay! only thing i find that hotels in hakone generally can improve on is the check-in and check-out time. check-in at 3pm (after a long journey there) is tiring, and moreover having to checkout by 10am is just too early! but we can leave our lugguage at the conceige and continue sight-seeing till late.
Not good and not bad”
Buffet for dinner and breakfast are great. The hotel is quite old and quite far from main station. The hote should have shuttle bus because there are quite lots of guests. Good onsen for new comer in Japan especially outdoor one.
Exceptional hotel ”
The value for the open air bath room is exceptional. It was basically an apartment. Massive, clean, and a lot of cool features in the room. The public onsens were fantastic and relaxing. We didn’t have any breakfast or dinner here but we did order some chicken wings from the room service menu that were tasty. Overall, would stay again for sure. Hakone is the most beautiful place I’ve ever been and this is a great hotel to match the area.
