The Hotel Okura was recommended to us for its excellent location and food and it did not disappoint. From beginning to end the staff were responsive to our needs. We ate in two of the restaurants Ciel Bleu and Serre. Both were fantastic. Ciel Bleu was without doubt the best 2 Michelin star restaurant I have been in (and I and my fellow guests have been in quite a few). We enjoyed amazing food and service in a relaxed intimate environment. The next night we ate at Serre and the food was fantastic too. We stayed in an Executive room and I can recommend the afternoon snacks in the Executive Lounge. I did not get time to try the SPA. The rooms were spacious and well equipped. All in all it was excellent and we will definitely be back
They like your money and damage cars”
No prIves for minibar items. Valet parking just applied without choices given! Car came back next day with scratches on the Bonet. Saw it unfortunately only on the first stop on the highway.
Comfortable, spotless, attentive staff, large room by EU standard”
I chose Okura because of its spacious rooms comparing to those in Canal Ring area, whivh you have to pay twice more for the same size. Getting to the Museumplein is easy with Tram 12. Also to Centraal, you go on tram 12 then 5 and can be there in 15 minutes. Great restaurants are also within walking distance as well as the Albertcuyptmarkt. The two-michelin starred Ciel Bleu was worth every penny with creative cuisine and top-class service.
Clean, efficient and business Hotel”
I have been a frequent traveller and Hotel Okura comes out near one of the top experiences I have ever had. It has a superb and outstanding Concierge personnel like Mr Les for example to help you have a superb stay. Travelling to town was easy by a network of trams, and when you returned back to the hotel after a day of sightseeing, it felt like you are returning home.
Fab hotel would definitely recommend
Ideally located in the City center”
We stayed two nights at Okura starting July 3rd and were satisfied on every aspect. 5 stars (Leading Hotel of the World) services as expected, location is ideal, staff is professional and friendly, bar on the 23rd floor has a beautiful view of the city, several different and valuable restaurants within the hotel. A shame we could not benefit from the massages at the SPA because we did not organize in advance.
Excellent hotel. Exceeded all expectations!”
The hotel is expensive, but worth the money. Its almost an Asian quality level of 4-5 stars hotels, and that - for Amsterdam levels - is exceptional. The location is perfect, the service is exemplary, and the quality of all the products, especially food, is of a very high quality. It offers all services you could wish for, and its location (quiet, peaceful yet central) is another great plus. I would recommend this hotel to everyone willing to pay for quality.
Good location, great Hotel!”
Hotel Okura is located 15min walking distance from central Amsterdam, yet it is situated in a calm and relaxed neighborhood, making it an ideal place to stay. The service is truly remarkable from the moment you walk in. The check-in process took a while because I arrived early, but the receptionist (Pander) was very efficient, let alone welcoming and helpful. The service is great, the room is clean and made up properly every day. I tried the Sazanka teppanyaki restaurant, and the food was absolutely sensational. The bar on the 23rd is great with a cozy atmosphere, and provides a magnificient view of Amsterdam. My only negative comment is about the free internet service, which was relatively slow, but I think this is the case across most European hotels, that is if they provide free internet access at all. In summary, Hotel Okura is a great place to stay, and I will definitely stay there the next time I am in Amsterdam.
Beautiful hotel in a central part of Amsterdam”
Really enjoyed my first stay at Hotel Okura Amsterdam. Upon check in, found that we were upgraded to a corner executive room, which meant a larger living area with a big work desk. The king-size bed was wonderful and the bathroom was spacious. The hotel is also just 2 mins walk to a tram station where you can take Number 12 or 25 to the city centre.
excellent service and highly recommended”
I had a wonderful stay, we went on tours and spent few days off in Amsterdam. The staff of the hotel were very friendly and we had a great stay. we ordered room service a couple of times and that was great as well.
Best hotel in Amsterdam”
Hotel is not in the center but convenient for any matters because Amsterdam is not so big city. Circumstances are more quiet than center and safe. Rooms were reonovated and very comfortable. May be too much modernized, ex. control for illumination and curtain in one controller. There are a couple of hotels which are newer than Okura but the service at Okura is the best in Amsterdam.
This is a very good hotel with excellent service. The room was clean and nice. The location is in a good neighboorhood. It is not in the city centre, but with public transport on 2 min walking distance that is not a problem. Special features are the nice restaurants on the site of hotel okura. We had diner in Yamazato; it was excellent. The rates for vary between hotel booking centres, so it might be worthwhile to shop for the lowest rate
Very impressive, but...”
you are better off to go out and about for food and drink Things are price a bit far out there which actually worked out just fine as Amsterdam is a super place and had a lot to offer.
Clean & looks modern”
Enjoyable & comfortable...
Very comfortable room and facility was perfect! ”
I was disappointed when I was told to wait for the room to be available when I checked in around 3pm. The check-in time was 2 pm and it was only me who was told to wait for a while. As I had some reasons to be in the room, I asked them to make any room available for me but they were not flexible at all. The way they treated me was not acceptable initially. I had to wait for 15 minutes in the lobby. It was a bad experience, however, staying in this hotel was very comfortable.
Overrated, would never stay here again”
I sent an email to agoda and the hotel itself and i have also called them by telephone asking to give me a double bed room not two twin beds. They assured me that this should not be a problem but they could not guarranty it. When i asked them to guarranty a double bed as i was staying with my wife for a whole week they said they couldnt. I then asked them to cancel my booking since they could not guarranty but they told me its not possible because it was a non-refundable room. Of course i already knew that it was a non-refundable room but in my booking they did not mention that a double room could have two twin beds. At this point i had no choice but to go there. When we arrived i asked them once more to give us a double bed and they said that our room will be a double bed. As the room was prepaid they asked for my credit card to block an amount for mini bar items etc. When i asked how much would they block they said 700 euro!! I've been travelling for 15 years even being to Amsterdam 12 times before and i never had 700 euros blocked for mini bar items. I refused to allow them to block this amount and the manager tried to convince me that this is the standard in Amsterdam. I told them that i did not accept and if they insist they should give me my money back. At this point the manager said that i should ask Agoda to give me my money back and not them. I finally settled to let them block 200 euro off my card. When we went up to the room I checked to see the bed and as i expected it was not a double bed. It was two twin beds joined together. Of course this is not the ideal bed to enjoy some time with your other half however at this point i gave up as i was too tired to argue any more. I realised that this hotel has no interest for its customers as my demand was completely ignored. Just to be fair the staff from room service, housekeeping and the porters were very polite and very helpful. I would not stay here again as there are much better choices in Amst
Lovely Hotel but the price is very high ”
I had only time to sleep. Came in at 01:00 and had to leave at 07:00. There was no breakfast available only with Room Service. I could not choose the kind of breakfast I liked. When I asked for a receipy. Breakfast was not mentioned but I had to pay for it.
Hotel Okura Amsterdam”
flat screen tv did not work, no bathrobes, no previous notification that the spa facilities Bar advertised as open to 1am, but on returning to hotel had shut before 11pm. No options other than room service! Not a great end to an evening out and trams don't run after 11.30pm therefore no option to go elsewhere.
dirty, unfriendly, expensive
Lovely hotel ”
We had a lovely stay in Okura. Easy to get to the centre on the tram and a good choice of cafes and restaurants close by. The pool was clean and relaxing. Would love to stay again.
