    Exceptional”

The Okura may be one of my most favorite hotel ever. Which is weird because it doesn't have a great pool and it's not near any of Tokyo's top sites - it's a walk from an obscure subway station and a HIKE to Roponggi (not joking - one street was so steep, it could have been San Fransisco). But I couldn't stop taking photos of all the lovely midcentury details of this beautiful hotel. The Highlander bar is a trip too - straight out of a David Lynch film. And the room is so big that you can do somersaults across - plus the view is expansive (if a bit dull as the area has mostly office buildings and embassies). If you get a chance to stay here once, please take the opportunity to experience the Okura's unique charm. The staff are also super classy and can arrange for a bus to the airport - stress free, better than taking a taxi to the train.

Excellent service!! The building itself is a bit old but the room was quite spacious for Japanese standards and the service is just wonderful with very caring and well mannered staff. I would stay there again.

    Immaculate Hotel with outstanding service”

From arrival the standard was set. Such service and attentiveness - nothing was too difficult. Our room smelt as though someone had smoked in it and immediately an air purifier was provided pkus windows opened. Just a great place to stay with such detail to attention. Just perfect.

Great service but terrible wifi throughout hotel”

Overall good service. Extremely dated rooms but well kept. Biggest drawback was the wifi which was absolutely terrible. Only could have been worse if didn't work at all but after 2 days I gave up and used my roaming package exclusively as the hotel apologized for the poor wifi

Glad I stayed at Okura before it closes”

    Location, history, building

I'm glad I stayed at the Okura before it closes later this year. Although I was disappointed that I was not given a non-smoking room with twin beds, the room did not stink and it was a nice size. The hotel is like a time capsule and the decor is a throwback to better days. Great hotel and sorry it will no longer be around.

    Comfortable & enjoyable”

    location, service & food

I had mistakenly booked for only 1 adult instead of 2 & was disappointed that they charged night extra for the additional person. I shall be going there again tomorrow for another 2 nights & was able to modify my booking through Agoda & make it for 2 persons at no additional cost. I see no reason for the additional charge for the previous stay as breakfast was not included. I found this very disappointing.

    Classic, no surprises. ”

good restaurants, good service, good place to meet business contacts -- everyone knows it.

As expected. The old dame is getting a little on the old side and can't match the flash and luxury of all the five star newcomers of the past 10-15 years (Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt, Shangri La, etc.), but still provides excellent service, good restaurants and good location. EVERYONE knows where the Hotel Okura is, so if you say meet there -- no problems, ever.

    A Real Japanese Hotel”

    Staff Attitude

Hotel Okura is really Japanese. While the hotel rooms are not in Japanese style, the appearance of the building as well as the staff inside the building are quite Japanese. I particularly like the attitude shown by the staff which is extremely polite. Overall, Hotel Okura lives up to the 5-star standard. On the other hand, the hotel is a bit old and not so close to a subway station (though still walkable to the Kamiyacho Station of Hibiya Line and the Toranomon Station of Ginza Line). Considering my pleasant experience of the stay, I shall be there again in my next visit to Japan.

    Best service of any hotel”

Service, location, room size, gym and pool

Best service of any hotel I had ever stayed at, bar none. Also rooms are quite spacious and good gym, spa, swimming pool facilities. Location ideal, within walking distance to Roppongi and Akasaka. Located in very wealthy neighborhood of central Tokyo. Although the hotel is very 60s or 70s, the rooms themselves appear to be renovated within last 5 years. At the price I received including taxes for the room slightly larger than the most basic room, I believe I received an outstanding value for Tokyo where Park Hyatt or Four Seasons Highly recommended and will stay again.

    A real Tokyo classic ”

For a taste of old Tokyo and a step back into time of elegance and gracious living Okura is a wonderful time capsule. The hotel is going through modernisation so this could be the end of the 60's classic design but hopefully they will retain some of the original design features and craftsmanship into the new refurbishment. The location is calming and refreshing after the hectic day in the city. Service was impeccable, caring and attentive. A interesting selection of restaurants and bars and an eclectic clientele that appreciate what makes Okura so special. I'm so happy I chose to stay there.

    Re visit to Tokyo”

We use to live 10 minutes from Okura and used it to catch the limo bus to the airport. so to return to Tokyo after 3 years and stay there and be close to all the amenities was excellent. We did not realise the old north wing had been demolished and a new much larger hotel,is being built for the Olympics.

    An experience to have”

Okura is, more than anything else, an experience. From the retro-but-luxurious look to the impeccable, attentive staff, this place makes you feel like you are a high-flying businessperson from back in the heyday of PanAM or TWA. There's a level of elegance, luxury, and nostalgia that this really delivered on for me. Plus, the property is an instagrammer's dream from the lobby, to the arranged flowers, to the origami crane and turtle on your bed. Is it pricey? Yes. Is it retro? Yes, and that comes with both the good and bad that term implies. To me, travel is all about memorable experiences. And Okura delivers on that.

A fine 4.5 star now being refurbished”

    Staff, location, old school ambience

This is an old institution for travellers to Tokyo and for local business people. It was once the most up market hotel but by international standards it is tired and out moded. The whisky bar upstairs is a relic of 70s kitch and the downstairs bar is a more of a mover and shakers bar with cognac by the bottle up to 300,000 Yen. The coffee is undrinkable at breakfast but the staff are quite excellent with more per guest that most properties you will have stayed at. Fortunately, the hotel is being upgraded and will doubtless retain some of the old charm. The one practice that is inexcusable for a hotel of this standard is the habit of charging an extra day for guest who arrive earlier that the appointed check in time. My colleague was obliged to wait until 4pm even though the rooms was clearly available as they offered it to her for a full day's additional charge - quite outrageous after a long flight from London and a significant booking from our party.

Tired old Dame is going to be renovated”

the staff and the service is impeccable.

The Okura is a funny old place. It prices itself pretty modestly to keep the old place ticking over, and arrival at the main wing still makes you feel quite important given all the bowing and scraping. However, the prices of the bars and restaurants have not adjusted to the new normal, and still seem expensive. The concierge is first class, and there are dozens of bell boys and girls on hand to assist with your every need. My greatest grip was that on arrival, after a long flight from the UK, I arrived to be told that although my room was ready, they would only make it available if I paid for an extra day as check-in time was not until 2pm. This must be the only hotel of this standing in the world that would try this on, and only after some remonstrating did the manager relent and let me into my room. My colleague was less persistent and she had to us the gym to take a shower - a wholly inadequate solution in the circumstances.
