Lovely (but quick) stay in the family suite”

Our group of 4 adults (2 couples) stayed in the family suite for 1 night only. The room is very impressive! A stunning outlook from a huge balcony to enjoy the view and a shower overlooking the rainforest. But as all the other reviews say, be warned if you book this room, the steps leading up to it are seriously STEEP! It's so worth it and if you're fit and healthy it's perfectly fine (and worth it!) but it's also hard so take that into consideration. Also - we didn't have top sheets for the two single beds (just fitted sheets) and found blankets but too hot for this, and the intercom from the room to reception doesn't work. We only had lunch here and the food was ok at best, we had better meals at other restaurants in Bukit Lawang. But an enjoyable stay in a great family suite!

Hotel Orangutan is well placed, along the main tourist 'street' and our room was beautiful, with amazing views of the jungle from the balcony and regular visits from local monkeys. The climb up to it helped make us fitter! Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They arranged a car from and back to the airport, organised treks and trips and fed and looked after us well. The place has a relaxed family feel to it. We came here mainly for the orangutans, and we will remember them forever, but the best thing about our two day trek was our guides. Iruel and Tondi looked after us every step of the way and made sure we had a good time. Food at the camp was one of the best meals ever, thanks to chef Madi who joined us there. Mowgli (nick-name) was similarly friendly and helpful when we went to the bat cave, and in every shop, stall, bar, restaurant, local people were universally welcoming. We now have to get fit enough to go for the seven day trek!

Bukit Lawang is a travel problem. There is intermittent electricity and only fair amenities at this small hotel with a steep climb up to the rooms. The only meet served all over the town is chicken. The beef and pizza are inedible. The Orangatangs are worth a two day visit. The hotel tries hard, however.

It's the jungle”

Whatever short comings this place may have it is not of their fault. You are at the edge of civilization with minimal electricity and amenities. I believe it is one of the nicest places in this location. The manager and staff really do whatever they can to make your stay the best it can be. My hardship came from traveling from the airport to get there and there is no way around that journey. If you are traveling here to see Orangutans it is still your best option.

If you want to stay here you have to consider it's a 2*-hotel . All in all, i was satisfied. You can order food on the spot. The bathroom was a bit weird, there was a sink but no tap! The view was definitely nice from the balcony.

I stayed here for a night. The staff was very helpful, the location is nice. You can see the forest from the balcony. You can order food in the spot.

Beetje viezig en vochtig”

Hadden hoge verwachtingen vanwege de hoge beoordelingen, maar viel tegen. Kamer groot, maar heel erg vochtig en klam en vol met insecten. Mieren liepen overal en het stonk heel erg. Vooral het bed! Voor deze prijs zijn betere hotels of guesthouses te vinden in Bukit Lawang. Een keer avondeten in het hotel gehad en dat smaakte naar niks. Geen aanrader. Personeel is wel heel aardig en we hebben een drie daagse trekking via het hotel gedaan. Die was helemaal super. Zouden we zo weer doen, maar nooit meer dit hotel

剛抵達Bukit Lawan公車轉運站時，我們還在愁要怎麼前往預定民宿時，民宿工作人員驚奇的現身，讓我們是又驚又喜！(結果一問之下，是當地居民太熱情，其中一位和民宿老闆是朋友，一得知我們住宿地點，便自己幫我們民宿聯絡，說我們到了，請他快派人接我們!) 民宿環境比當初看網站照片預期來得舒適許多，非常貼近大自然，工作人員很親切友善幽默，而且房間數目不會很多，若是喜歡放鬆大自然且不要太多人群的你，是個不錯的選擇!
