Shocking cleaning standards ”

Reception was nice and welcoming. Room was horrific. Some sort of matter sprayed on the walls. Stank of fags and there were fag butts in the bathroom. Bins with rubbish in. Breakfast included but after seeing the restaurant area we got out of there!! Wouldn't take much to clean to an ok standard. Location was v good though and when pur a/c didn't work he took half off the bill.

Checkin is as supposedly 12 but the Room was not ready at 2pm. The maid had gone to lunch. I should wait for an hour. Not cool, 2 blackouts in 2 days, while common in India it meant no ac and no wifi. the room was also never serviced in the 2 days, no new towel, the curtains did not cover the windows so bright light really early on. The location is great, the tourdesk helpful and not pushy but I felt the other hotels would have been better value.

Non-existing rooms sold through Agoda”

If you do not get a cheap price for the room through Agoda do not go there - The rooms would be totally overpriced if you get the room on site or if you are moved from a better accomodation to this hotel ! I booked a superior room into Bright Heritage Hotel, When I arrived there I got told it was full and they told me to be moved into Hotel Park Avenue in the same room category.The booking in Bright Heritage included refrigerator, TV, water heater, king size bed or 2 single beds. These items were all missing in Park Avenue. The next day I got told that I get the money for Bright Heritage refunded and I asked how much the room costs : The price was the same as for Bright Heritage except np fridge, no TV, single bed. I checked Agoda and found out the room price of Agoda was about 1/3. They told me the Agoda room type ( there the description fits the advertised costs ) is not existing in their hotel. After discussing for about 1 hour they agreed, if I make a booking through Agoda I can get the room for the Agoda price. Unfortunately theire Internet access in the evening is so slow that one has problems entering most sites and, in addition, Yahoo collapsed too this evening. So it took me about 5 hours to get everything sorted out. The windows were near the street lighting. There was no possibility to get room dark in the night. I asked if they could do something about it, they said yes but did not do anything about it. Due to this I had sleepless nights. If they would have asked immediately the price offered at Agoda and returned the difference of the Bright Heritage I would have given them 5*. But due to not refunding the difference by themselves and not helping to sort this problem out and advertising non-existing rooms types at AGODA I would give them only 1*. The only 2 good things about the Hotel were : It was relatively clean and at the end they accepted the price advertised at Agoda. Otherwise the room would have been totally overpriced.

The room is quite big but very dusty. The hotel is very old and have no elevator available. By the way the beach here is also full of rubbish but the tour package provided by the hotel to backwater is a thing must try. Is is very nice

Superb place”

Very good place to stay if you are planning to visit Cochin. The ferry service is just about 1km away from the hotel to get to Ernakulam, and it will only cost you 2 ruppees. The staffs are really cool and very helpful.

Reasonable accommodation - no breakfast”

The Park avenue hotel is well situated within the town, close to 2 ATM machines, shops and restaurants. The rooms are clean but basic with a luke warm shower. The restaurant on the roof was closed when we visited but is due to open in Jan 2012. The hotel was unwilling to arrange alternative breakfast for us even though this had been booked through agoda, although not a real issue as there are several local places to eat good food. Most of the staff were very nice, but not all! Overall 4/10 Would I use them again if in Fort Cochin - No. There are better places available.

Great location but otherwise crappy”

The only plus point of the place was that the location was good. The negatives were many, the room and bathroom were both moldy and there was a strong odor of mold. If you are allergic, beware. The bathroom had a water drip. The hotel did not provide any toiletries or drinking water despite asking for them twice. There was no intercom. The restroom in the lobby was worse than what might be found at an Indian railway station. The hotel kept our IDs despite me asking them to make a copy an return them assuring me it would be sent to my room soon. They did not. I forgot and had to rush back to get them after checking out. Quite an expensive place for the services offered.

Service good, rooms small and windowless”

Unfortunately we had bed bugs:( My mum got munched. And the room had no windows but an internal light shaft. The people in the room opposite the shaft left their light on all night and it shone right into our room. Positives were the location - close to great cafes, restaurants, shops and tourist sights. The staff were lovely.
