Not a 3 stars hotel, but great value for it`s price”
From what I've read from other reviews I was quite worried what to expect. For the price we paid for the three nights stay I wasn't expecting anything fancy. That is what you need to keep in mind when booking this hotel, you don't get fancy 3 stars hotel or rooms for the low price which this hotel has. The hotel staff was nice, they kept our luggage during the day because we arrived soon. The elevator to the rooms wasn't very nice but it was quite clean. The room itself was OK, nothing special, the bathroom was big enough but what we was really bad was the smell of toilet in the bathroom. Otherwise we didn't have any problems, air condition worked well as a heater and TV worked fine as well. We didn't spend much time in the room as we were out in Rome during the day. For the short stays and good price, I believe the hotel is fine. But really not a 3 stars hotel and they shouldn't be using this rate.

Very good”
Very near to the train station, clean rooms and bathroom. Wifi is provided only when requested and need multiple credentials for multiple devices. You will have to pay some tax charges which is €4 pp/night, not sure what it is but i was assured by agoda it will be given back after raising a query.

Worked out well for us, for what we needed”
We were returning to Rome to travel by airport the next day. It was New Year's Eve so hotels were in high demand and most were more than we wanted to spend. So we tried Hotel Philla. It was close to the Termini Station (which has a regularly scheduled train to the airport) and was perfect for us. Breakfast was included, we were able to check in at 2:00 so we could go explore Rome, and the room was clean. Everything we needed.

Good Location but not staying again”
The hotel claims to have an elevator but you need to take a flight of stairs (6 steps) before reaching the elevator. Wi-fi signal was very weak and non-existent, at times. Also this hotel does not accept credit card when charging for tourism or occupancy fee - it is $3 per person per night. If you do not have enough cash, be prepared to shell out 12.99% + fixed service fee of $9 in currency exchange outlets. Not sure why this is a 3-star hotel. It should be 2-star, at best.

Needs Updating”
Hotel was excellently located with a short 5 minute walk from Termini. Although very cheap we were disappointed with the facilities, the photos that we viewed online prior to booking were not accurate (This may be down to us staying in a different room). Everything in the hotel was outdated and needed a serious sprucing up, perhaps by using plainer bright white decor. Aside from the points above the receptionist was pleasant when checking us in and we were also checked out in the morning by a really lovely man who ensured that we had some breakfast before we left for the airport. Overall if you really just need a place to sleep for one night then this is fine however is not suitable for a longer period in a relaxing hotel setting.

It's an OK stay but...”
My stay in this hotel is OK with just a little things to rant about. Let's start with the good stuffs. This hotel's location is really nice, it's just a straight walk out from Roma Termini Via Marsala exit. The hotel staff is also helpful as they let us place our luggage at the counter before we checked in and after we checked out with no charges. (compared to the price in Roma Termini

Above average”
Hotel Philia is nice, it is near the train terminal, very accessible, clean enough, although not quiet as you can hear the passing of car outside, breakfast is just another story since they don't have regular cook or canteen to offer hot meal.

The staff makes the difference”
Pros: -clean room and hot water -3 minutes from Main-Railway-Station -open 24/7 -own bathroom Cons: - unfriendly staff - smelly room - partly noisy - the facilitys are old and partly damaged, mattress uncomfortable We were a group of 3 couples visiting Rome for a weekend. We experienced the most unfriendly staff ever. We did not feel welcomed at all. One of them even tried to make us pay for a bent key my friend has not even used once because the cleaning-lady opend the room. All 3 rooms smelled a bit like old waste pipes, our room was the worst. It smelled like poo all the time and did not go away, no matter if we opened the windows or not. It is not like we needed a fancy hotel. We wanted a bed, clean rooms and hot water: we got that all. Even a good price! BUT sleeping bad or not at all because of the smell or noise plus a staff that makes you feel uncomfortable... For those who dont mind that: good place to stay for a weekend but we wont come back, sorry.

Bad. No services. Nothing. Terrible lift. Only location ok.”
Very poor. Philia hotel reception was rude and did not help the guests. No services. In the winter, they don't provide heat in our hotel rooms. No kettle in the rooms. All indoor areas in Rome have heating facilities (metro, shopping center, but this terrible hotel, I rented two rooms with three 80's old people, In the last night of this trip was a nightmare. When we When we returned to Hong Kong, we were all sick. We needed to see a doctor. I hope you can help me to request hotel "philia" pay us for the cost of returning to Hong Kong to see a doctor fee and the salary that I can't work because I am sick.

Good value, but don't expect to enjoy it”
Clean enough, but quite run down. Wallpaper was either ripped off or stuck on with sellotape. We were just happy to be able to blast out ice cold air con. The shower was borderline unusable - we discovered the shower holder was broken when it flicked up and sprayed water all over the hotel room (wish I closed the door!). It was impossible to be able to stand under it without getting my partner to hold the shower over the curtain for me! The curtain was rubbish, the whole bathroom flooded everytime we used the shower - it was practically a wet room without a drain! The bed was uncomfortable and our window opened out next to a shop that was clearly open 24 hours. Even though our window was shut, we were continuously woken up by the 2 men running the shop shouting at each other! I couldn't believe the 2 men had so much to say to each other that they were talking non-stop ALL NIGHT like they'd not seen each other in years!!!

Great location and clean ”
Location, staff and cleanliness are pros. Only 20 mins walk to nearly all tourist spots (and only 15 min drive to Vatican City). A lot of great cafes and restaurants nearby. Staff were helpful. Room and bathroom were clean, but stairs and lift could do with a clean. Cons are that wifi isn't that great, no lobby, the hairdryer is ridiculously old and weak and no iron (there is however a launderette down the road). For what I paid, I was happy with the hotel.

Disappointed”
I paid more in order to get a Double Executive room with breakfast. The room was tiny and uncomfortable. The only difference seemed to be the shower with integrated massage jets which didn't work. You enter the hall to the reception and it says 3 stars as advertised but when you go to the rooms on the second floor it says 2 stars. the staircase is full of spiderwebs and dirt. the most disappointing part was the breakfast. the variety of food is incredibly small. you'll find plastic plates, plastic bowls and plastic mugs. the stated breakfast time is from 7:30-10:30.Be sure that the're will be no food left at 8:30! the staff is friendly but one receptionist and one in the breakfast room is not enough to handle the number of hungry guests. I could't see any bread except on the plates of guests and when I asked the staff he said that they didn't serve bread. It was obvious that they run out of it. All in all the location is good but I prefer another hotel next time.
