Great Basic Hotel, Awesome Location
Location, Friendly Staff
Really Basic
i admit, i was initially uneasy about staying at this hotel after the numerous negative comments. my partner and i have traveled quite a bit and had our share of pretty bad and good hotel rooms. this is definitely not a 4-5 star hotel, but doesn't claim to be one. the hotel is right in front of the hustle and bustle of piazza venezia and within spitting distance of the vittoriano. we took a cab from fco and cost us about. from the hotel, everything is within walking distance. the trevi fountain is a 5 minute walk, as well as the roman forum and 10 minutes to the colosseum and piazza navona and pantheon. bus line 64 stops right in front of the hotel to go to the vatican and the termini. the bus ride to the vatican was about 10 minutes without traffic. the lobby is somewhat simple and small with just one desk. not the usual long counters at other big hotels. the hotel lobby and hallways are well lit and beautifully decorated with pop art. the elevator was all glass and very unique. the room we stayed at 204 was simple yet functional. it's not big, but not small either. we stayed at smaller hotels in tokyo so room size was not an issue for us. room and bathroom was clean. sheets were clean as well. high ceilings actually made the room look bigger. it had a huge window overlooking the piazza which we liked. if you're sensitive to outside noise, then you should probably get some earplugs as it can get loud during the daytime. the noise didn't bother us though. the bed was firm but comfortable. there was a small flat screen tv in the room but we didn't find any english channels, only italian. the bathtub/shower does not have shower curtains, so you would have to sit on the tub if you want to shower to avoid water getting on the floor. it was fine with us although this might be an issue with tall people. the toilet was pretty narrow so this might be an issue with wider folks. there is a built in semi-bidet on the toilet bowl which was nice.

One of the worse hotel I have ever been staying
It;s in the center
Every thing
We got rooms on the 5th fl., where they had no AC., the fl. was under renovation. When we asked to changeroom, the seaff said everything was occupied, & No car park. Never stay there is my only recommendation.

Great location, shabby hotel
In the very centre of Rome this is a hotel for people who don;t travel to spend their time in hotels but enjoy the surroundings
Hard to find from the street, entrance does not look at all like a hotel, small rooms and even smaller bathrooms with basic comforts
Overall if it wasn't for the location this hotel would have very few pros. However this is really a big one it being placed right in the centre of Rome. Street in front is busy and loud but the fact you don't have to worry about getting anywhere on foot is a great advantage. Rooms (at least the one we were in are basic but clean, with very small bathrooms so not a place you want to spend a lot of time in. However another big plus is free internet (although more in the second floor common area than in the room) - but still a good thing a most other hotels I stayed in in Italy charged min. 5 EUR for 30 mins. I have not found a restaurant or breakfast room (although it was supposed to be included) but there are plenty of cafes and bars right outside so it wasn't a big deal. Cleaning staff were a little too eager to kick you out of the room in the morning to finish their cleaning but at least they did it... So this is a good hotel for guests who care more about the location that the beauty of the room.

Walking distance
Easy to get to from the bus or train drop-off areas.
No elevator/lift in the hotel.
There are no cars in Venice. I only made that connection when asking a taxi driver at the bus drop-off point from the airport to take me to the hotel: "I cannot take you there, it is in Venice." Fortunately, the bus depot is just a few minutes walk (albeit crossing two canal bridges) to the hotel. But trust me, it is much easier to walk to the hotel than to take a water ferry to a hotel further down the canal as they are overcrowded and have a baggage limit (1 bag per person). The hotel is old but clean. Our room overlooked the canal, but it was pretty small and the television (just fyi...there is a lot to see in Venice that you don't need to watch TV) did not have any English-language channels. The breakfast in the back courtyard was probably the nicest hotel breakfast I had on my trip and the setting is quite peaceful. And the hotel's positioning at the start of the water ferry system makes getting around easy.
