Great hotel let down by no air conditioning ”
We checked in on a hot Paris afternoon and we're given a room in the roof section. That would be fine if the air con worked. It was just blowing air and the room was like a sauna. We asked the front desk about it they said they would get an electrician to fix it. That didn't happen so we asked for a new room on a lower floor which they finally agreed to after expressing our dissatisfaction with current situation. Our air con still doesn't work (they finally admitted it is the whole hotel) but because it is on a lower floor the room isn't as hot. We have had the windows open which is ok but the weather isn't as hot today. Such a shame as the room is a good size, huge new bathroom, great breakfast, excellent mattress etc. So it's fine here if it's not an over 30 degree Celcius day. Thanks to the young lady who tried to help us. It's not the receptions fault but they are left to manage many unhappy guests. I have now read past reviews and it seems to be an ongoing issue for the hotel. I would stay here again but probably not in the height of summer.

check in verly late”
The earliest check in is at 3 pm, but the rooms, not only mine, had be ready only at 4pm. The staff was not interested to work quicker and not even excused for the delay. Check out is already at 11am!

Good location”
We were in Paris for 5 nights, 6 days. For me 4 nights is plenty as you will have very sore feet from walking. I do reccommend Paris. It does not feel like a capital city, and this in my opinion is one of is best features. The hotel is in walking distance from Bonne Nouvelle Metro, and the Metro in Paris is easy to use and very reliable. All we wanted from our hotel in Paris was a comfortable night sleep, inexpensive, and for it to be close to some attractions. Friends who have beeen have stayed up to an hour's journey away from Paris, and we did not want this. Prior to booking the hotel, it seemed that all the hotels within 2kn of Paris were very expensive, so when I stumbled on Provinces, I was aprehensive as it was very cheap, yet in a good location. It is situated next to a 4 star Holiday Inn. The hotel provided us with what we wanted: it was about a 20 mins walk to the Louvre and you walk along typical Parisian streets with cafe' bars, bakerys' and fruit shops which made it a nice walk. We paid a very reasonable price with Agoda for the hotel and as we literally only slept there, the cons that I mentioned before didn't really bother us, apart from the air conditioning. However, as I said it was very hot when we went. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel and it is 12 Euro's per person extra. You can get a coffee and a croissant for about 2-3 euros from most bakery's around. So, if your in Paris to sightsee, are on a budget and like us, only need the hotel to rest your weary feet, you will be quids in with this hotel. If however, you want to combine the sightseeing with a relaxing hotel that has many facilities, and you have more to spend, then the Provinces is not for you.

Cosy and ideally located next to Grands Boulevard”
Spent 2 night at Provinces Opera. Rooms and clean and quiet, hotel is ideally located. Staff allowed me to store my luggage in a store while my room was getting a cleaning before check-in time. I'd definitely recommend that hotel

Good experience”
We enjoyed the hotel thanks to the comfortable room, the fast internet and its location near the North Station (Gare du Nord). The area is not that good though. I wouldn't recommend it to girls travelling alone because it's sometimes not that safe. But the hotel in itself is very good.

Good value for money for Paris”
Hotel is fairly central and close to Metro stations (Bonne Nouvelle or Strasbourg Saint-Denis). The area is okay - go west down Grand Boulevards and it's pleasant, go east and it starts to get a bit sketchier (especially if you don't know Paris), but the hotel's street is fine and there's no need to venture towards Strasbourg Saint-Denis if you worried. Property was clean and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Bed was comfortable and furniture was basic but fine. Main issues were that there was a noticeable smell of cigarette smoke in the room and the air conditioning didn't work. Overall, a slightly dated feel and you shouldn't expect anything exceptional, but it's difficult to find decent budget hotels in Paris and this was better value for money than usual.

Good hotel for the money”
This was a great place to stay while visiting friends in Paris. The building is charming and the breakfast is very good. Staff friendly, hotel very clean. Our room was hot at night, as the AC did not do its job well, but otherwise we were very satisfied and enjoyed our stay.

Good choice in Paris”
I had been in Paris several times before. I chose this hotel for price and location, and I was positively surprised. Rooms are small but very clean and well presented but the best is the huge bathroom! Loved it. If only reception staff were nicer this would be perfect. They have free wifi but settings for surfing are very restricted so there were many websites I couldn't go...like hotmail and touristic sites... frustrating. Other than that, it is a very good choice for Paris.

Good Value hotel near metro”
I got a discounted rate and was very happy with my 1 night stay here. The hotel is clean & comfortable. The location is very close to a metro and a 15 minute walk to the Opera & Gallery Lafayette. Good value for money.

Location, location, location.”
The hotel has fabulous location, well served by 2 different metro lines and numerous cafe and brasseries. Extremely convenient when traveling to the hotel from CDG and to major attractions from the hotel to the heart of Paris. On a minor note, Bonne nouvelle station of line 8 that is near to the hotel no longer stops at Concorde where the US consulate is closest to. No big deal, you just need to do a few hopping to line 1 or 12, which are the 2 lines that do stop at Concorde.

Bad.The air conditioning did not work in the room.”
Terrible. Had to dodge water that was dripping from air conditioner over door. It also made an extreamly loud noise when on. It blew warm air and could not be turned off from controls in room. The staff had to turn the ac off from fuse box. I was told each day that it would be repaired, but it was not. I was also told that we could not change rooms, because the hotel was full. I would not recommend this hotel and I would not stay there again.

Review - Les Provinces Bonne Nouvelle Hotel”
Since I got a fairly good deal (€49 a night), I was fairly suspicious about what I was going to find, but my suspicions were truly unfounded. First impressions matter greatly and they were very good: the staff was welcoming and were able to communicate in English (from reception to cleaners) and were very welcoming and gave useful tips. The rooms themselves follow a simple and yet unbeatable formula: spacious, practical and comfortable (everything from shower to air conditioning worked). Neither eye catching or an eye sore, it provided exactly what is needed: a comfortable place to stay. All in all, a good experience.

Clean tourist class hotel”
OK tourist class hotel. The room was clean and for Paris reasonable large. But the wifi was bad in the room. Location very good near Boulevard Hausmann. Breakfast is not special with very few hot items. Not worth the 15 euro extra per day. Better book without breakfast and have breakfast in one of the many cafes nearby.

the overall experience, but something bad happened”
the hotel is nice, clean, and the price is relatively cheap. However, we had some bad experiences there: 1- the major one: when we checked in, we requested a twin room. The receptionist (whose name is Nacholas) was very helpful to try very hard to find us a room. However, when we entered the room, we found three beds. To make sure we can stay in that room, we called Nicholas and he said that room is for us. However, on the second day when we returned to the room, the third bed is gone. It's definitely ok because we paid for a twin room. The very bad thing is the staff just threw my stuffs which was originally on the third bed onto another bed. And they didn't rearrange the remaining two beds. In short, the whole room was in a mess!! They had every reason to remove that additional bed, but couldn't they tidy the room a bit after the removal? It's a kind of unforgivable disrespect. Afterall, we never asked for a room with three beds. 2- the minor thing: the receptionist working the night shift (a 30 something bald men with eye-glasses ) was rude when we tried to borrow an adaptor
