A delightful rest break in the clean cool air of Pyin Oo Lwin ”
We booked Hotel Pyin Oo Lwin for a two-night rest break during our 26-day independent tour of Myanmar, and were thoroughly delighted with it. Our bungalow was spacious and spotlessly clean, with a huge bed, dressing room, bath, shower, toilet, and front balcony where we could sit and read. The restaurant was excellent, and our two breakfasts and two dinners there were delicious. We sampled the Myanmar and Shan speciality menu - ask for this, as they don’t always hand it out. All the staff were excellent, most especially the chef, who was brilliant. Top location, right by Kandawgyi National Botanic Gardens. An easy stroll of 8 minutes to the main gate, but you can exit at the north gate which comes out opposite the hotel. Be sure to visit the Takin, and you may be able to feed the female, as we were. The huge males are way too scary! Value was very good, 4 stars, really closer to 4½. We would thoroughly recommend the hotel, and would certainly come back if we ever revisit Pyin Oo Lwin.

An unexpected and very comfortable gem of a hotel”
In almost 4 decades of travel, the Pyin Oo Lwin Hotel might possibly be close to the best small hotel I've stayed in. The accommodation is in bungalows, which are very well designed and fitted out, with great attention to detail. The bed, with a large and warm quilt, is very comfortable. The lounge/lobby area is furnished in warm timber, with soft lighting and comfortable lounges, a perfect place to avoid the winter cold outside, with a glass of very reasonable wine. The hotel is close to the botanic gardens, which in themselves are worth a visit to Pin Oo Lwin. The hotel has bicycles for a minimal cost, or one can use a horse and coach, which serve as taxis for the town. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

Great discovery, fantastic hotel”
Wonderful discovery. This hotel was nicely decorated in Christmas spirit when we arrived. Bungalows, and the hillside location are just beautiful. Bungalows are very cosy with warm wooden interiors and wood fire, and all the comforts of a typical ski resort n the French Alps. Staff is very attentive, making sure our needs are met. Surprisingly, they organized a breakfast basket for our 5am check-out and ride to the airport. Vey much appreciated The hotel is located 5min walk away from the absolutely stunning Botanical Gardens. You will see few foreigners but lots of locals chilling in the gardens. These botanical gardens are top quality and perfectly maintained - better than most botanical gardens I have seen in other countries. Top recommendation for Pyin OO Lwin. Nice restaurants close to the hotel - "Feel" is just 10min walk away and is located next to a lake. Great wide selection of good food.

Fantastic place -- only real place to stay”
We really enjoyed our stay here. It was easy to get to and from the railway station and easy access to Botanical gardens. The gap between this hotel and others in town was startling. The hotel staff was great, helpful, and eager to please. The compound is a miniature village of well-kept chalet-style bungalows, tastefully decorated and extremely clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and very easy to get some work done as well. There are even fireplaces (Pyin Oo Lwin is a hill station) for staying warm during the cold season. Staff can also arrange (in a clean hotel-owned car) tours to the local sites, including the Gokteik Viaduct, currently the 2nd highest railway bridge in the world (built in 1902). We would definitely stay here again.

beautiful resort hotel”
this is a beautiful resort hotel. the rooms are in bungalows are spacious and nicely designed, 2 units to a bungalow. the location is a ways from the ceenter of town, but transport by taxi or motorcycle taxi is easy. and you're just a short 5 10 minute walk to the national gardens, which is the one must-see in pyin oo lwin. the staff are friendly & helpful. the breakfst is good with a lot of choices, although not always as warm as they should be. the only downside is that as a resort, they charge resort prices for food & drinks, considerably more than what you'd pay outside. but overall, it's a lovely place to spend a few days.

Beautiful , comfortable , clean”
Only stayed 1 night and wished we had of stayed longer just to relax in the Hotel. Accommodation is in individual bungalows which are extremely clean and comfortable. Push bikes are available at a minimal cost. The hotel facilities are first class. There is no need to go out to eat as the catering is good. Location is a easy 10 minute walk to the botanical gardens which is the main attraction in Pyin Oo Lwin. Highly recommended

A wonderful, relaxing location. ”
I am not surprised that the British colonialists were so attracted to Maymyo, or Pyin Oo Lwin as it is now called. The hotel is beautiful, situated just a minutes walk from the botanical gardens. The staff were friendly and helpful and not many hotels serve such a fine breakfast. We stayed here in February and the water in the covered pool was far too cold for us.

Exceptional”
The hotel was located within walking distance of the beautiful National botanical gardens which are a must-see attraction in Pyin Oo Lwin. The wooden panelled room was very comfortable and the covered veranda was well used too. The staff were very helpful and friendly with personal service as two of only a few guests in the monsoon low season.

Yet another unique experience in Myanmar”
Pyin Oo Lwin was much colder than the other places we have stayed in SE Asia. We slept a family of four comfortably in a bungalow. We loved the down comforters and blankets that made us want to stay in a cozy bed and watch movies on the big screen tv. Breakfast was also excellent, primarily Asian food with great coffee. Negotiate your own taxis in town, most drivers are willing to transport you around the small town, wait while you shop/eat, for less than half what the hotel will find for you. Our major complaint was that the pool was not heated as advertised and it was far too cold to swim in.

this is a newly built hotel so rooms are in very good condition. it's on the edge of pyin oo lwin near the botanic gardens. this is the best location to be in pyin oo lwin so that's not really a problem. staff were very friendly and helpful. hotel has everything you could want including swimming pool, gym and billiard table.

A fantastic hotel”
I spent a week in Pyin oo Lwin and this has been one of my most enjoyable traveling experiences ever. This hotel is magnificent; the rooms are huge , very comfortable and beautifully designed. I stayed in this wonderful city because I could not find a hotel in Mandalay, and I enjoyed it much more than staying in a big city. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only weak point is the quelity of the restaurant food and its excessive prices; there are plenty of good places to eath in town.

A very comfortable and classy hotel in Pyin Oo Lwin. Great views, delicious food, fantastic breakfast and close to the botanic gardens. Very nice pool with professional staff, gym and guides. Get a horse and carriage to pick you up and tour the town. A gorgeous spot and a great hotel to renew one's energy, eat gourmet cuisine and enjoy the views

Good Hotel for access to Gardens”
The room was huge and had many amenities. It is located within walking distance to the gardens. The staff were excellent and even compensated us by giving a free dinner when the neighbor kept us up all night. One recommendation I would make to the hotel is to insulate the rooms from noise; as it could be noisy. But overall it is a beautiful compound, very clean and a good choice for Pyin Oo Lwin.

Quiet and spacious”
a little way out of the town of pyin oo lwin itself, but you can hire a bike from the hotel and get into town easily, and there are one or two other restaurants not too far away. staff are polite and helpful - they helped me to arrange my onward journey by boat to bagan, including arranging for a taxi transfer very early in the morning. although a very expensive option, accommodation in general is expensive in burma at the moment, and it was the most luxurious and comfortable place i stayed on my trip.

Very nice bungalows, good place to relax”
I enjoyed the stay at the hotel very much. It was one of the best hotels in my Myanmar trip. The rooms are large and comfortable, very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located a little bit outside of the center of Pyin Oo Lwin, but this is no disadvantage. You can enjoy the silence and easily reach the botanic garden. The hotel rents good bicycles, it't easy and good to drive around.

Beautiful rooms but out of the way”
First thing to say is be warned - this is not in the immediate Manadalay vicinity. Its about 75km out of town and thats 1.5 hours driving. We booked herethinking it was in Mandalay and that led to a lot of confusion. However once we got there it was a breath of fresh air (literally) from the steamy heat of Mandalay. Pyin Oo Lwin is a small town in the mountains and there's not a great deal to do there but you can pass a couple of relaxing days wandering the Botanical Gardens and walking into, and around the town. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Imprtant to note that you will have to be up well before dawn to get to the airport for your flight out of Mandalay. One thing this hotel lacks (and really needs) is mosquito nets on the beds. We were being attacked all night which was a shmae as the rooms were otherwise great!

Resort style & relaxing”
The staff is efficient & helpful. Simple breakfast in the morning with burmese traditional glutinous rice (black & white color) with beans, and some other items. The Staff tried to explain as there were no labels on it. It will be good if multi grain bread is available as only white bread is being served. The room with fairly high ceiling and it can be quite cold during winter season around Dec. There is no heater in the room. Dinn at Feel Restaurant serving European, Japanese, Chinese & Thai cuisine. Reasonable price and just about 10min drive from Hotel Pyin Oo Lwin. It's also near the Lake, cool, breezy, relaxing, good food & will enjoy the surroundings with both locals & tourists.
