2hour drive from Mandalay. Staff went out of their way to help and were very friendly. Not much to do in the area, but a beautiful location. The drive from Mandalay was very scenic, and uphill with a few hair pin bends.

              Great location”
Room was beautiful and the staff even more so. Will admit I spent a lonely Christmas Eve and day in POL but my hotel digs and the staff were helped ease the burden greatly. The size of the room and the grounds overall were amazing...I had no idea the amenities and staff would be so grand.

Disappointing stay at such a luxurious hotel”
I wanted to stay here for the experience but was disappointed. It's all ritz and no class. The staff seemed to have nothing to do which made the place seem very empty. Too many on the front desk and others wondering aimlessly. The TV in my room stopped working several times and the internet was almost non-functional. The pool is outdoor so too cold to use and the gym - basically let's say there's NO gym it's that bad. Overall, the breakfast was good and the location (within walking distance to the Gardens) fantastic! But I won't be staying here again.

Beautiful grounds, within walking distance of the gardens, very helpful staff, decent breakfast, huge room. Those are all pluses. But the room was pretty expensive, phone did not work, safe too complicated with no directions provided, too many light switches to figure out what went to which lights, fan, And the door was very hard to lock and unlock. Also the pool was freezing and most gym equipment did not work.

Stayed two nights. Near the garden, which is nice. It is a little difficult to get into town if you do not have your own transportation. The rooms/cabins were much nicer than we expected. Breakfast was limited, but the coffee was better than you usually get at hotels in the region.

Quiet, big rooms and near the botanical gardens
We had a great stay hear. The rooms are nice and big and the kids enjoyed having a bathtub. The hotel is within walking distance of the botanical gardens, which we enjoyed, but it does make it hard to get into town if you do not have your own transportation. Breakfast was okay, but limited. We were expecting more at breakfast just because everything else about the hotel is so nice.

An unexpected and very comfortable gem of a hotel”
Room design and layout, lounge/lobby area, staff
In almost 4 decades of travel, the Pyin Oo Lwin Hotel might possibly be close to the best small hotel I've stayed in. The accommodation is in bungalows, which are very well designed and fitted out, with great attention to detail. The bed, with a large and warm quilt, is very comfortable. The lounge/lobby area is furnished in warm timber, with soft lighting and comfortable lounges, a perfect place to avoid the winter cold outside, with a glass of very reasonable wine. The hotel is close to the botanic gardens, which in themselves are worth a visit to Pin Oo Lwin. The hotel has bicycles for a minimal cost, or one can use a horse and coach, which serve as taxis for the town. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

This hotel is located just five minutes walking distance from the beautiful Botanical Gardens which are the main attraction in this town. The hotel itself is a cluster of bungalows that are vaguely reminiscent of Alpine chalets, and that are located in a nice garden area. Staff is very welcoming and helpful.

              Clean, comfortable, big bungalows
We really enjoyed our stay here. It was easy to get to and from the railway station and easy access to Botanical gardens. The gap between this hotel and others in town was startling. The hotel staff was great, helpful, and eager to please. The compound is a miniature village of well-kept chalet-style bungalows, tastefully decorated and extremely clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and very easy to get some work done as well. There are even fireplaces (Pyin Oo Lwin is a hill station) for staying warm during the cold season. Staff can also arrange (in a clean hotel-owned car) tours to the local sites, including the Gokteik Viaduct, currently the 2nd highest railway bridge in the world (built in 1902). We would definitely stay here again.

we stayed here two nights. while more expensive than other guesthouses and hotels in the area, it is well worth the money--great value! the staff is some of the most helpful, friendly and accommodating that i have had. there was nothing they didn't offer to help us with. the room is large, comfortable and well appointed. the bathroom is spacious with separate dressing area and a separate tub and shower. there is free wifi in the room. all in all, of the nicest hotels i have stayed in and definitely one of the best values, even if on the high side for the area.

Beautiful hotel with nice bungalows, so close to fabulous botanical gardens, attentive staf
Wonderful discovery. This hotel was nicely decorated in Christmas spirit when we arrived. Bungalows, and the hillside location are just beautiful. Bungalows are very cosy with warm wooden interiors and wood fire, and all the comforts of a typical ski resort n the French Alps. Staff is very attentive, making sure our needs are met. Surprisingly, they organized a breakfast basket for our 5am check-out and ride to the airport. Vey much appreciated The hotel is located 5min walk away from the absolutely stunning Botanical Gardens. You will see few foreigners but lots of locals chilling in the gardens. These botanical gardens are top quality and perfectly maintained - better than most botanical gardens I have seen in other countries. Top recommendation for Pyin OO Lwin. Nice restaurants close to the hotel - "Feel" is just 10min walk away and is located next to a lake. Great wide selection of good food.

Great decor and furnishings in bungalows
This hotel isn;t cheap, but you get a good deal for your money. The bungalows are very plush - lovely comfortable beds, TV with a range of channels, great bath and shower with loads of hot water. All manner of toiletries etc. The pool was good, though I'd have to say the water was extremely cold. Breakfast was fine and the hotel was efficient around arranging a taxi for the railway station in the morning.

A delightful rest break in the clean cool air of Pyin Oo Lwin ”
We booked Hotel Pyin Oo Lwin for a two-night rest break during our 26-day independent tour of Myanmar, and were thoroughly delighted with it. Our bungalow was spacious and spotlessly clean, with a huge bed, dressing room, bath, shower, toilet, and front balcony where we could sit and read. The restaurant was excellent, and our two breakfasts and two dinners there were delicious. We sampled the Myanmar and Shan speciality menu - ask for this, as they don’t always hand it out. All the staff were excellent, most especially the chef, who was brilliant. Top location, right by Kandawgyi National Botanic Gardens. An easy stroll of 8 minutes to the main gate, but you can exit at the north gate which comes out opposite the hotel. Be sure to visit the Takin, and you may be able to feed the female, as we were. The huge males are way too scary! Value was very good, 4 stars, really closer to 4½. We would thoroughly recommend the hotel, and would certainly come back if we ever revisit Pyin Oo Lwin.

Winter in Pyin Oo Lwin is freezing. Can you imagine, after a long ride, you need to wait for 2 hours or more for a shower in this freezing winter with no heater in the room? Our anger comes from this point. Besides, the view is good, close to the interesting point. Breakfast is OK. Small swimming pool and tiny gym are OK for summer visitors.
