Super kind and helpful staff makes it all”
We had a very good time in Mandalay also thanks to our stay at The Rich Queen Hotel in the north-east side of the city. The family-run hotel is modest but clean and cosy, decent rooms with clean towels and sheets everyday. The shower might turn miserable, especially at upper floors level, but just need to ask the staff and they will sort it out quickly. Breakfast is good and the staff always looks after your needs and requests with responsiveness. The distance from downtown is easily coverable either by bicycle (15mins) or motorbike which are always available and in good conditions. We actually enjoyed being away from the crazy traffic of the center not just because the hotel is very peaceful but also because it is conveniently located for visiting both the north-east area off the fortress walls as well as the western one. There are a few nice restaurants in the area, some just 5 mins away from the hotel on the 26th streets, but once we were really exhausted and asked for dinner at the hotel: the staff and service was so quick and good, the food simple but delicious so we decided to go for this option again and again! This gave us the opportunity to connect with the family members and exchange basic English conversation which was fun! Highly recommended. Giada & Matteo

Nice budget hotel just 15 minute walk from center.”
Spent 4 days at the hotel which was only a few minutes walk form inexpensive good restaurants such as JJ cafe,Mandalay Swan hotel and the restaurant on the corner next to the Mandalay Swan. The actual phone number of the hotel is 02-74667. If you are on a budget and want to see some unusual sites and areas of Mandalay not seen by local tour guides, use these 2 motorbike boys who speak good English, very attentive, caring and inexpensive.I switched between them. They were best of friends, school buddies and working to help their Families. "Tin" has a couple of brochures you can go through to discuss what you want to see. Glad I met them. Phone: Tin at 09-49337064. Tell him Mr.Tommy referred you.

great new hotel”
The staff of this hotel is really nice. I stayed here for 3 nights. They has a clean and new room because the hotel already open for 4 month. It's like a big house with many room. They have a little dining room. The free wi-fi is ok and they also have a free computer in the counter for the guests. The important thing is a price that is very reasonable. I love this hotel the most. But for the restaurant is quiet far from the hotel but I suggest you to eat the noodle that located on the small bride near hotel. It's look not so clean but testy. It's not a restaurant just the vending food and very cheap. It's open around 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Unpleasant first night. ”
Unpleasant first night. Arrived late at the hotel and the room was not available so my friend and I were taken to another unfinished hotel, owned by the same people and we were picked up in the morning to the Hotel Rich Queen. The rest of our stay was pleasant enough for a budget hotel with friendly staff. The beds were not made up every day though, unless asked. All and all not too bad.

Budget hotel and obviously so.”
I actually thought it was ok for the money but it was too far from the city centre and there were little insects flying around in my room. I also heard mosquito's buzzing around in the night. I got about 20 mosquito bites in my 2 days in Mandalay and only about 2 more in my other 8 days in Myanmar. Maybe it is unfair of me to blame the hotel but I still think that is where it happened.

Sweet staff, quiet location”
We changed hotels because we wanted to get out of the hectic city center. The hotel is on a quiet side street. The staff went out of their way to help us, and even brought us a plate of pancakes as a "gift." We saw that this place was rated rather low, in our experience it is underrated. The room was spacious. The bathroom was a bit weird with a low ceiling, but there was great hot water. The breakfast was good, no complaints.

Budget hotel with a nice staff”
We chose this hotel mostly driven by a last minute price discount from 50USD to 17USD. Eventually, we realised that this is a 17USD hotel and not 50USD as we thought: so don't be fooled by the price :) the staff is really friendly and available, they really helped and welcomed us: nothing to say :). Room was tidy and overall it was matching a budget hotel expectation, even though the sheets had a big hole. The worst thing though is the breakfast: basically not existing/not aligned with any European standard and other (even cheap) Burmese hotels we went. In conclusion, if you are looking for a budget accommodation, this may work but look elsewhere for a proper breakfast ;)

welcoming and helpful staff,”
After the hustle and bustle of Yangon, this hotel suited us well. We were made to feel welcome by the owners and staff. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Location was within walking distance of town. There were several restaurants nearby as well as an early morning outdoor market where the locals bought their produce, fish and meat for the day. I would recommend this hotel as good value.

pampering staff in quiet location near to key plac”
This place is on the edge of town on a dirt path with the odd rooster roosting. LOL The staff are all 'children' running around like chickens with their heads lobbed off trying to please...while yielding the biggest smiles known to man! Their knowledge of the biz is less than zero so take care if you expect help. However we loved their eagerness to please. They never cleaned our rooms or even asked. It's just a 15 minute walk or a $2 taxi ride to nice restaurants and dance theatre. Wifi was not working in our rooms but did in the lobby. The make shift common room on the driveway turned out to be the perfect hub to meet and share stories with fellow travellers (-: So if you want a little adventure with your accommodations look no further than here. May god bless their little hearts...(-:

Comfortable, but far from centre and restaurants”
Staff are friendly and helpful, the hotel is clean. our room was spacious and had a big window, however it was cold during the night. The location is slightly away from the centre and you need either to walk 20 minutes or take a cab to get to the nearest restaurants. They have an internal restaurant were they serve typical Myanmar food.

Good for a night.”
This hotel is value for money. The downside is it's location: way out of town.

One night stay”
Hotel isn't located in the city like the map tells you it is. We payed for the best room and breakfast and got neither. The hotel staff are obviously new at running and operating a hotel. Spoke English very poorly and didn't understand agoda and tried to make us pay again ( which is how we figured out we weren't put in the right room). We had two twin beds in our room after requesting one large bed. The rooms were a good size and everything was new. although it looked clean it felt dirty and dusty. They have free wifi but it is very slow. I wouldn't stay there again.

Overcharged to move to larger room”
I arrived with a friend and was booked in a suite. This was a very small regular room. Requested to be moved to a room with two beds. They insisted on charging us much more than the difference on agoda and more than their full price as listedon agoda. Even after showing them prices on web the insisted on more money. The hotel was nice and new but located on a smelly garbage strewn canal. General hotel prices in Myanmar are too high for what you get.

Nice place to stay but far from centre”
็Hotel's location is far from town centre about 15 mins by car. It's not far from Golden palace (about 20-30 mins walk). So you should rent bike or bicycle. Room is ok and clean. We stayed at triple room. Staffs are helpful and good service. Breakfast is small choice. Wifi is not good signal, you can use PC at lobby.

Pokey rooms, wierd staff”
From the outside the Rich Queen looks quite good. But the rooms were so small with ½ a meter of space down one side of the bed and 1 meter at the bottom. The bathrooms were not cleaned properly, just wiped over with both rooms I stayed in having soap scum in the bathroom sink and grubby uncleaned corners. The ground floor rooms were impossibly noisy because the cleaners and go-fers were continually screeching and bellowing at each other in the corridors. I changed to an upstairs room for my second night which was quieter. The breakfast room was chaotic with no apparent system in place for delivering food. They couldn’t even fry an egg with the bottom brown and crispy and the top runny and gelatinous. Some reception staff was scatterbrained, not unable to answer simple questions even though their English was quite good while the one helpful person on the counter was continually interrupted by other staff bellowing at them when they were speaking to guests. I did have 24 hour hot water.

Family run, basic, nice hotel”
The hotel is safe, (many surveillance cameras), small and affordable. The rooms are not cleaned even if you stay for more than 2 nights, but there s friendly staff that will bring a plate of fruits in the evening. The Family is running a small guesthouse type hotel with small double rooms some with balcony. It s not that easy to find and be careful there s a hostel with the same name in town!!

safe, quiet suronding and internet”
The staff speak not good english, so the comunication was somtimes hard. The ground floors are very noice because the reception, kitchen and the rooms from the hotelstaff was on the same floor and the staff wasnt quiet till late and early in the morning. The rooms on the second ond third floor are smaller but quiet.
