DEFINITELY NOT A 5 STAR facility as advertised in their site. But....read on ”
Pros - beautiful peaceful out of the way spot. Very rustic and simple facility that is beautifully groomed. THE STAFF WAS WONDERFUL .... polite, helpful and attentive to our needs. Cons - VERY DATED and MINIMALLY functional rooms. Windows broken and won’t close torn window screens. Ceiling fan broken and no hot water on last day of stay. The main pool was so dirty we did not want to use it. But with all said it is a charming place that could be compared to rustic ‘summer cabin’ camping with MINIMAL amenities. Location inconvenient to off site activities and definitely be aware that depending on your room you may have a half mile walk up a VERY steep hill every time you want to come or go. All parking is at the bottom of the hill near the office. And it’s true.... NO WiFi in the rooms..... AND NO CELL SERVICE EITHER!!!
Awful stay ”
We had booked a deal at Agoda for euro 100 per night and it still felt like a rip off. The room itself was ok but it was not cleaned properly. The restaurants was horrible, dark with no atmosphere and very basic food ( tomato soup was ok) The staff was awful and we felt very unwanted there. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!
We have visited the Rio Perlas Resort several times over the last few years. The resort has changed ownership and the new owners have "Great things" planned. They need the changes bad. The facilities are very dated and need modernizing, Everything is as built about 20 years ago. Bathrooms are especially dated and dingy. The basic structures are great and timeless in design, but 1990's bathroom design is poor. One of my main complaints is no WiFi, except in the Reception area. We also only had 1 very snowy TV channel. Even the food for breakfast seems to be of poor quality. In a country with outstanding fresh bread available daily, the bread was stale tasting and similar to American white bread, i.e. absolutely no flavor, The toaster did not work. The Gallo Pinto beans were crunchy. All in all not a good experience. We will try again next year, after we inspect to check condition of the facilities.
A great Pleace with poor room ' bad food' dinner and breakfast.
Very nice place for a relaxing stay”
Very nice place for a relaxing stay. Comfortable rooms, nice swimming pool, good breakfast, friendly staff. The menu options and wine list are limited, but acceptable. This is not a hotel issue, but good to know: there is no cell phone signal, so don't expect to make or receive calls - wifi works reasonably well in rooms and restaurant, so communications through internet is the alternative.
