Fantastic hotel and friendly staff”
Booked the hotel at the last minute and were due to arrive just after midnight. Unfortunately due to bus failure we did not arrive until just after 5am to find a smiling night clerk who could not have been more helpful or efficient and also proceeded to tell us that we had been upgraded to a superior room. The room was a revelation, particularly for the price. Despite being sleep deprived we were still able to be amazed. The bed and pillows were the best we have found in Laos. The airconditioning was superb and the bathroom bigger than some hotel rooms I have encountered. Breakfast was close to the equal of any hotel I have stayed at in Australia and I have stayed at more than my fair share. Checkout was trouble free. Cannot speak highly enough of all the staff whose customer service skills were exemplory.
This is the best hotel in Thakhek. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfast buffet is adequate. There are some negative aspects to consider though. The wifi connection is very slow. The hotel, being situated on the river front road, is subject to the noise created by the locals drinking and making merry, into the wee small hours of the morning, at roadside bars. If you're a light sleeper I'd suggest taking ear plugs for a sound sleep as the racket by the locals, out on the street, went on until 4 am.
The best hotel in town”
Our stay has been relaxing and we felt well accomodated, grace to the excellent reception staff. If you stay in Thakek you should consider the Riveria hotel.
Best place in Thakek”
I paid a little extra for a junior suite with river view. Totally worth it. The view on the Mekong is just great. With the exeption of the recently opened "Boutique d'Or" hotel, this is by far the best place in Thakek. Rooms a mostly clean, including the bath room. As almost always in Laos, the staff tries to be helpful, but communication is very limited. Different from previous years, a breakfast buffet is not available anymore, and the selection of breakfast dishes that can be selected from a card is very limited.
friendly and helpful staff”
Stayed in hotel for (2) nites and received excellent treatment. Good clean room good maid service. Occupancy was low, so breakfast was off of a menue, but was very adequate with friendly service. Will stay again if in the area.
Very tired hotel – needs refreshing”
We stayed 1 night on 13 Aug 13. Arrived at 4.30 pm after a drive from Vientiane, and were shown to our room with no problems. On entry the room was like an oven – it was just a room, on the small side, nothing special – great view of the Mekong River 100 metres away. The balcony was useless. The air conditioner had little effect and we had to leave the room for the bar/foyer area, as soon as we could, to cool down. The bar staff were not that friendly, had poor English and were grossly undertrained. Ordering drinks was not easy. As a result we decided to take a tuk-tuk on a 7 kilometre ride around town, great value. On our return we went for dinner in the hotel dining room – we were the only people there. After being seated it was explained that the air conditioners on that side of the room did not work so we were repositioned to the other side. As the staff were the ones from the bar area ordering meals was difficult. We got thru our starter and main and were looking to order dessert. Unfortunately for us about 4 or 5 loud males (obviously drunk and with what appeared to be ladies of the night) arrived and received all of the staffs attention. As a result we went without our dessert. Breakfast was from a limited menu, acceptable and served in short time – the staff were far different from the night before. The hotel needs a refurbishment, the air conditioners need to be overhauled and the staff needs more training. What a let down from our stay at the Green Park Boutique Hotel in Vientiane. We would not recommend this hotel, however it is purported to be the best in town. Rating 5 out of 10.
Nice hotel right on the Mekong River ”
The location is superb, but not in the center of the town. Nice view to the river and to Thailand.
Godd hotel on the river”
had a good stay just passing through but stopped a couple of nights hotel good & manager is very helpful plenty of food places in walking distance
Probably one of the best in town”
The hotel is in front of mekong, not so far of the center. A good choice for quiet and comfort in this nice little town.
Probably the best international hotel in the city”
staff was very friendly and helpfull, superb view on the mekong and very comfortable room. we will definitely go back to this hotel in our next stay in the city.
Nice hotel out of the center with a large pool”
We endogeen the hotel and the pool. Arthur far from the centre, need a tuk everything time.
Modern hotel overlooking the river”
Very friendly hotel staff, although they speak almost no English. The Malaysian General Manager was very helpful.
Sweet Staff, Weird Hotel”
We have seen this building in many guises over the last 10 years from the frame of a rusting relic from the age of the '70s Asian financial crisis, to failed condo room development to its current state as the Furama Hotel Chiang Mai. The excessive interior design does nothing to make you feel that you are in a fully functioning hotel. Its in a terrible, no where near anything location, unless you have your own transport or taxi around all the time. The rooms are big but the one skin common walls are very thin and you can hear what ever is happening next door. The beds supper comfortable. We ordered room service twice as there are no restaurants close by. Whilst the food was ok, it was expensive for what you get. The room rate through agoda represents good value. But if you are paying the walk-in rate its much too expensive. All the staff are very nice and obliging. Our most vivid memory is of the view of the bird poop that covered the dirty window
Comfortable but lacking of personality”
Globally good but, perhaps due to the low season, breakfast was rather poor: no buffet, just a few choices from the menu. The hotel looks a bit old and need some renovations in the bathroom.
