Great location for Tokyo at a great price!”

My wife and I stayed here for 6 days! The hotel was in a great location to explore around Tokyo. A bit outdated, but the staff have excellent customer service. The room was a bit small, but it’s no surprise in Japan. They hotel provided great amenities and were very helpful. The only problem I had with the hotel was the bed. It was very hard, one of the worst beds I slept in at a hotel. It was very uncomfortable to sleep in after a long day sightseeing and walking around in Tokyo. I even asked the front desk for an extra blanket to use as a mattress pad, but it wasn’t enough. Hopefully the staff realizes this issue and can correct it. Overall, it was a great location for the price, they had free WiFi in the room and bring amenities and clean towels daily. They used economy cleaning, which they came in to clean the room one day out of my entire stay. It didn’t bother us, but just a heads up for future guests. In close proximity to Ikebukuro train station, restaurants, shops, and Sunshine City Mall.

Excellent”

Pretty good value if you want a basic place to sleep and a good breakfast to start each day. My only real gripe was that the beds were pretty hard. You get used to it after the first night especially after exhausting days exploring Tokyo, but be forewarned if you're used to soft beds! Overall, I liked how it was tucked away from the bustle of the main shopping area of Ikebukuro (it was nice walking through the area heading to and from the station). The hotel is right in front of the overpass of the Metropolitan Expressway, so it's a little loud if you leave the window open at night, but I didn't mind it so much.

Near Ikebukuro”

Near shopping district

it took us about 15 minutes to reach to the hotel from ikebukuro station.and we have to pass through a very busy street. if you carry a heavy luggage, it might be a bit inconvenience. the rooms are quite small, but very clean and well serviced. there are lots of restaurant or shopping nearby the hotel, like ramen, shopping mall, coffee shop. overall, will recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again if we return to tokyo.

Value For Money”

The hotel is located about 10 - 15 minutes by walking from Ikebukuro Station; very close to Sunshine Shopping Mall. It is a bit far from the station compare to other hotel in the area; but of course the price is cheaper. The room is very clean and not too big (as expected in Japan). But it is spacious and good enough for me. All the utilities are provided and they even provide international cable plug converter; for international guests. The wifi is okay; it is a bit lagging especially during early evening. However they provided LAN cable internet, which is very fast and smooth; as you may use it if you bring your notebook or laptop. Overall I am very satisfied with my stay in this hotel.

Location, price, tidy room

Great location, located at the end of Sunshine-Dori, close to city centre and shops. There are quite a number of convenience stores and supermarkets nearby. 24-hour shop is also in 10-minute walking distance. Clean and tidy room. Nice reception and helpful staff though not all of them could understand English. I am a female travelling in Toyko alone and would definitely recommend this hotel for travellers of same occasion as me. This hotel has been very popular among travellers and would recommend those who would like to live near to city centre of Ikebukuro to book this hotel early to secure a room.

Short walk from JR Ikebukuro, but not right in the middle of the hustle-bustle. Helpful staff and comfortable room. Certainly not spacious, but that's the norm for reasonably priced Tokyo hotels.

All hotel's staffs have very good hospitality and very willing to help. The location is also convenient for shopping anime goods shop in Ikebukuro. However, the hotel's free wifi signal is very weak. I have problems many times to connect it. That's the only bad point I found on my stay. I want to say big thanks for all staffs again for helping me during my stay. Hope I will have a chance to stay at this hotel again and it will be great if the wifi's signal improved next time!

God enough”

Value for money as it is very cheap compared to other hotel in Tokyo. Cleanliness could be improved though and the beds were kinda hard. The best thing is that it's in the heart of Ikebukuro but in a quiet and reaidential area. Minutes walk from lots of. restaurants and interesting shops. Very near trains too. Definitely recommended if you just need a reliable and convenient place to sleep after spending all day exploring Tokyo.

Ark Hotel ”

Service was good. Free internet excess in the lobby. Staff were competent and friendly.
There isn't anything to dislike. For the price we paid, suprisingly, everything was up to expectation.

In the first place, the hotel is totally accessible. 5 minutes of walking can get you to sunshine city, and the Ikebukuro train station. No fear of having difficulty finding food. There's a family mart just 5 walks away which you can find nearly everything you want to snack on. From bento sets, to sandwiches. The toilet may be small, but it has every basics you'll probably need. Price was totally reasonable.I would truly recommend it to whoever's on a budget and needs a place mainly for resting purposes, because you'll probably be busy exploring the shopping and eating areas.

Nice cosy hotel room”

1. Centralized heater 2. Clean & tidy, everywhere 3. Friendly, smiling English speaking staffs

I stay twice in this hotel during our trip to Japan as this is the cheapest hotel we can find on our Tokyo trip. 30 mins away from Tokyo station. 20 min walk from Ikebukuro station. No free breakfast though. But plenty of convenience stores, restaurants, shops along the journey between hotel and station that opens till late. You can get plenty of nice and cheap food here. Hotel rooms come with a centralized heater, which is essential since the temperature here was sometimes at 3 degree during rainy nights. Hotel staff are somewhat friendly and smiling. They speak English too. Not bad. Enjoyed overall.

Too small room but great location”

Tokyo teaches you that hotel rooms can be as small as your bathroom back home. This is the smallest room I have ever stayed in, but it seems like the norm in Tokyo, if you want to stay in budget accommodation. Location is awesome with probably 500 food joints within 500 metres. The wifi in my room had some issues and they gave me a router in my room, and it worked, although had a few problems still. There was a major problem as I was told I had booked a 'Eco plan' which means there will be no room cleaning, but my booking had no mention of that. I complained and provided the booking documents and after some back n forth, they agreed to get me the daily cleaning. The next day, new staff members raised the same issue and again some time spent but with the same favorable solution eventually. So beware of this clause when booking this hotel. The staff were friendly and accommodated my request finally, but there might have been a miscommunication between the hotel and agoda.

Great location but noisy if facing the highway”

The place is great value for money as it is situated right at the end of Sunshine-dori which is lined with food and game centre. It is about 5 min walk from JR Ikebukuro line that you can take the NEX line directly to the Narita Airport. Cons are the hard bed and that it is noisy if your room is facing the highway.

Convenient ! ”

The hotel is located about 10 mins away from the JR station. You can see many eateries, restaurants and clothing stores such as UNIQLO, America eagle on your way to the train station. The room is very small but just perfect for solo traveller. The bed is semi double and it is hard. You got the very basic amenities such as toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner and body wash etc etc. They will replenish clean towels, tea bags, toothbrush everyday (all in a bag, hang on your door). They clean the room every 3 days. If your dustbin is full, you can place the trash bag outside and they will clean it. Even though the room is small but there is a bath tub. Trust me you will need it! With all the walking in Tokyo, having a hot bath does relieve sore feet and body. The wifi in the room is working fine, no problems with surfing net and watching videos. The staff are very polite and friendly. One of them would say "welcome back!" which makes me feel at home :) I would definitely recommend this hotel for those who is looking for a reasonable priced room in ikebukuro!

Exceptional”

Great for humble solo travelers. I say this because I chose to stay here instead of with my group, as they wanted more space and cooking facilities. The room: You get what you pay for = basics. Very small, but I could fit 1 XL suitcase, 2 Large travelling bags in the room. The bathroom was also a tight squeeze but it had all the essentials. The only space I could use to stretch was on the bed, so if you can handle small living areas this is for you. Location: Great distance from major shopping points (such as Sunshine City), but the downside is that the hotel is positioned right next to a highway/vehicle overpass. The noise from the outside street did make it hard for me to sleep, but if you're a heavy sleeper then you should be okay. A bit of a walk to the JR station but other train-lines are available. The neighborhood is very safe (I was walking back to the hotel well past midnight after I dropped my friends off). Cleanliness: From the lobby, the elevator, hallway and to my room, my experience with this hotel was very clean. I have sensitive skin, but I had no problems during my stay - the bathroom, the robes and the bed linen provided were clean. The building itself looked very well maintained. Staff: Not all staff could speak English, so it would be wise to learn a bit of the language to make things easier. But they were all very friendly and eager to help. Best highlight was the staff were able to hang on to my luggage before I could check in so I could see the sights, and then also hang on to it after check out as I had a late-night flight. They were also able to help me find the closest post-office, but I struggled to secure a shuttle with the staff. Other than that, I was very comfortable and happy with the service. Facilities: Everything listed on the booking was there in the room. Had no issues with any of the furnishings or equipment. TV came with a headphone jack so it's good if you have blue tooth headphones so you can watch the TV without annoyi
