Professional service, renovated rooms are beautifu”

professional staff, cleanliness, modern decor and amenities, in the heart of Macau

I've stayed at Hotel Royal many times now. This is definitely my choice of accommodation whenever I visit Macau. Sure, I can pay a lot more for other 5-star hotels in fancy casinos, by why both? This place is small, cozy, in a convenient location, has its own casino floor but it's not crowded and requires very little walking. Almost all the rooms are renovated, so you get your large LCD TV, fancy bathroom, bathroom robes, safe, fancy toiletries, good bed and bedding, plenty of storage room, good broadband internet (wifi on the top floors is VERY poor, however)... even the slippers are nicer than most hotels'! I've always received professional service from their staff, including online communication via email. They even upgraded me to the premier floor so I can use their wifi, but sadly, their wifi is super slow and is not reliable. Luckily, their wired broadband is fast and solid. Their breakfast is also nicer than most hotels' at this price. They offer a decent selection of both western and Asian food (think cereal and porridge/noodles). I'm already planning my next trip to Macau, and -- yup, you guessed it -- I'll be staying at Hotel Royal.

Surprise surprise”

Hotel is absolutely value for money, great location and very clean

As mentioned, hotel is great for value and since my exploration of Macau is mainly by foot, the hotel location is spot on for me to venture to most of the places that I had intended to. After the second day which I had cut into the many back alleys around the hotel, it was even shorter distances to the places of interests and at the same time, many cafes or food carts are lined in those alleys which makes it just perfect to have my meals and they taste good too at a cheaper price. The hotel also has great services and the instant I step in I was greeted by a wonderful scent and check in was fast and smooth although there was quite a queue at the reception. Had requested extra pillows which was sent to us quite fast. Had to mention that the bed already had four huge pillows which I did not expect and I really had wonderful sleep throughout my three nights there. Two minors things which hotel can consider to improve was that I had arrive in Macau by the ferry and had difficulty locating the free shuttle bus berth to the hotel and can only find the berths for those major hotels. Perhaps they can consider just putting a small sign where the pick up point for hotel Royal is. Another is the service staff who had sent the pillows to my room was sort of grumpy which had sort of affected the wonderful experience from the first step into the hotel till into my room. However that did not really affected my ratings if you can see but those are the details which caused bumers in the whole experiences. I would definitely stay in this hotel if coming back for holiday.

A Very Royal Hotel”

Beautifully furnished rooms, 5 star accommodation.
Free Wifi access.

If you want value for money, this hotel is bang for the buck. Its cheaper than other 5 star hotels in Macau. But don't let the price fool you, the Royal Hotel is a proper 5 star Hotel. The rooms are beautifully furnished with all the the right amenities and the buffet breakfast is definitely a plus. Highly recommended for non gambling tourists who would want to soak in only the sight and sounds of Macau and for those who crave peace and quiet in Macau, due to the fact that this hotel is one of the few hotels in Macau that does not have a casino. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my stay at the Royal Hotel and would definitely highly recommend this hotel.

VALUE FOR MONEY”

It has a very good location. Hotel facilities are well maintained and has good amenities. Hotel staff were very polite, kind and accomodating.

It was excellent. I have been staying at this hotel every time i visit macau. It is centrally located to some hotel-casinos like grand lisboa, hotel lisboa, mgm grand, wynn hotel and star world hotel. It is 5min away from the macau ferry terminal where all casino shuttle buses (offering free transpo) are found. Royal hotel is also surrounded with restaurants offering good food for a good price. Just a block away from the marketplace. Few mins away from ruins of st paul and senado square. All the hotel staff are very kind, polite, respectful and very accomodating. They also give you tips on how to explore macau. Hotel price for a night stay is also affordable. They also have a casino (mocha) at the 1st floor. And swimming pool and fitness gym at the 3rd flr. Housekeeping staff also did excellent jobs in cleaning our room. Ambience is likewise excellent.

Good Value Hotel”

Location, Unbeatable Value, Airport & City Shuttle Service

I made an early booking with Agoda for this hotel at a relatively cheap price for Superior Room and even received excellent value as we were upgraded to Deluxe Room. We were not able to catch the free airport shuttle service of Hotel Royal because we arrived at 10:20pm as the last trip of the free airport shuttle service is only until 10:00pm. Hotel Royal might want to consider extending their free airport shuttle service until 10:30pm. Beware of overcharging of taxi drivers from the airport as they take advantage of the extra charges of luggage and airport surcharge allowed by the Macau Government. We were charged extra MOP20 on top of the meter charge for one luggage and two passengers. Whereas our companions were charged extra MOP25 on top of the meter charge for two luggage and three passengers. The Macau Government should look into this as tourists are being ripped off by the taxi drivers at the airport.

Big room, Friendly Staffs, Peaceful Neighborhood, Easily accessible to tourist attractions ”

We spend 2 nights at the hotel at .... room The room is spacious with all amenities provided even though we booked with promotions and without breakfast. The receptionist Michell is very friendly and she even allow us for early check in. We arrived to hotel around 12:00 noon. Right across the Hotel is small garden and you can relax there in the evening. Passing the garden and you can reach to bus stop which bus No. 25 goes to Taipa area where the famous casinos and hotels like Venetian, Parisian, City of Dreams, Studio City, etc are located. I really like the hotel room and it’s location as well. If there is any chance of going to Macau, I would definitely choose this Hotel Royal Macau. 👍🏽👍🏽

5 stars except for swimming pool”

Hotel Royal Macau is a very nice place to stay in Macau. You will feel elegant when you enter your assigned hotel room for you because their rooms are soooo neat and so called "pang-mayaman"! They have free shuttle bus going from and to the ferry terminal so no worries riding the bus or cab. Bellboys and receptionists are mostly Pinoys and they will guide you to the places to visit in Macau. Breakfast choices are also healthy. Unfortunately, we were not able to enjoy the swimming pool because we were told that swimming attire should be worn. In most hotels, they will allow board shorts for males but not in this hotel. Too bad because we chose this due to the proximity of the hotel to St. Paul Ruins and the pool. But overall, I am satisfied with Hotel Royal. Hope to come back soon!

Exceptional”

Our stay in Hotel Royal (9-12 March 2017) was excellent due to the receptionist, she welcomed us very warmly (beautiful smile) at the reception (she is a Filipino and we think her name is May [hope correctly spelt) and staff members in concierge especially Raymond, he is Filipino too). They were very helpful and friendly. May was extremely helpful as she gave us directions how to move around Macau, where to eat etc etc. Each time when we need assistance, she is always able to answer and extend assistance with a big smile without any sign of irritation! Another compliment are the 2 singers at the coffee lounge, they were very good and we enjoyed their singing entertainment. We like Hotel Royal as its not busy nor noisy with people walking in and out of casinos! Location is excellent to restaurants and touristy spots - all within walking distance! By the way their breakfast was good too. Will definitely stay in Hotel Royal if ever we visit Macau again.

Hotel rooms

From our Hongkong trip we went to Macau & stayed overnight at Royal Macau Hotel last Nov. 3, 2011. The location of the hotel is a little bit far from the casinos but a walking distance to St Paul ruins and Senado Square. The hotel looks old & not that attractive when you look at it outside but when you go inside you will notice the spacious and clean lobby and the friendly staff who are very accommodating and attentive. The room we had was big enough for an extra bed, inspite of having two single beds. The bed linens in our room looks & smells clean. When I asked for an extra bed they were able to provide it immediately eventhough there were lots of guests checking-in. The bathroom was spacious & clean and with complete toiletries. They also have a minibar, a complimentary bottled water, coffee & tea. Free shuttle bus going to the airport or in the casino areas were provided.

First time staying here and great experience! ”

Location, value for money, service

I'm glad that I chose this hotel! Firstly there is a free shuttle bus from the ferry terminal to the hotel (also to and fro the airport). From the ferry terminal, you have to use the underpass to get to the other side. Once you are on the other side, you can see the signs for many hotels like City of Dreams, Venetian, MGM on one end, and less signs on the other end. The shuttle bus for this hotel does not have a sign of its own and is on the end with less signs. Just walk right to the end and wait there. The shuttle bus is a small brown one. There is also a shuttle bus from the hotel to Macau Tower etc. You can check the hotel official website for the schedules of all their free shuttle services. Basically I made full use of the shuttle services throughout my trip, other than walking, and did not use any of their public transport. If you feel like visiting Venetian etc, you just need to take the shuttle to the ferry terminal and then catch the other hotel shuttles to the other hotels. It's very convenient and free. The location of this hotel is great. Guia Lighthouse, a public park and a cable car service are just around the back (5 minutes' walk). You can also easily walk to Senado Square, Ruins of St. Paul and Macau Museum (10 minutes). Just ask the hotel staff for directions and they will be happy to help. There is a 7-11 store and a local restaurant selling local fare like roast duck rice beside the hotel. If you walk along the streets, you can find more food options and there is also shopping to do. Service at the hotel is good. Checking in and out was fast and smooth, and they are always ready to help. As I was a solo traveler but only managed to book a twin room via Agoda, I put in a special request for a double bed if possible and I got a free upgrade to a Premier Room! That was a genuinely pleasant surprise. Overall my stay in the hotel was marvelous. I will definitely recommend this hotel to others who do not want to stay in a hotel with casinos.

What a good experience”

Location, Bed, Room, Services and all

Stayed in Royal on two seperate days. Love it at the very min i reach there, the recep staff n butler are all very courteous and helpful, althought they made some small harmless mistakes here and there. They have fillipino and chinese officers and butler, so definitely no communication problems. Loovely clean and big room with plasma tv, nice lamps and chairs, huge bed with comfortable bed, clean bathroom including the shower curtains is what u will be expecting. Well, I realise tt lots of hotel have clean rooms, but dirty bathtub n especially the shower curtain. Ok, back to Royal, the room is just so awesome, especially the bed. With a long n short pillow, with a very comfortable quilt, u will be ensure of a sound sleep. I then went to HK for a nite, the hotel is totally horrible so I just cant wait to come back to Royal Hotel, Macau. Upon my return. they quickly check in my new room, and upgraded us to the premier rm due to lack of deluxe rms.*Lovely* The room is newly renovated also and with new classy timber furnitures, and lights are more sufficient here. They do not have a bathtub in the premier room but a rain shower head compensate everthing, anyway we do not have time to soak in the bathtub too. Location is not so fantastic with limited eateries aroung. Alot of attractions and casinos is a walking distance away but u wouldn't wan to walk for 20 mins with nothing to see, so take a taxi cos its very near, therfore the fare is not ex. Overall, a wonderful and lovely experience.

chose this hotel because of the indoor heated pool (the only way i could swim during winter time). but of course we didn't have time to utilise the pool at all with all the things to do in macau! away from the casino strip, royal hotel is a quiet and peaceful area to stay at. there's also a shuttle bus service that brings you to some of the attractions such as the casino area & fisherman wharf etc. however, one can actually walk to the casino area and senado square - macau city isn't that big! the looks of the room is nothing to wow about, in fact the furnishing is a little backdated, however the room is really cosy, the bed nice and plushy, and the bathroom bright and suitably spacious. all in all, i had a comfortable stay and i would stay at royal hotel again for my next trip to macau.

Excellent hotel away from the casinos”

Very well-appointed hotel - 4 star standard - in a neighborhood that holds more local interest than the glitzy area most hotels are found in; able to walk from hotel to many of the sights in Macau
prices raise significantly for weekends (as many hotels in Macau do); a little isolated if you are looking for the casino scene, though it is walkable in a bout 15-20 minutes or an easy taxi ride.

The Royal is up on a hill near the Guia fortress - about a 15-20 minute walk from all the casinos, and and easy walk to the major spots tourists are interested in in Macau. I enjoyed the neighborhood feeling here - it was more interesting for the feeling of daily life in Macau and also access to the interesting sites than being in the midst of casinos. The hotel itself is very nice - room was clean, felt new; was well appointed and very comfortable. I selected the hotel because of location and a decent price during the week; Friday night the price was to increase by almost 50%, so I selected a different hotel for the weekend; otherwise, I would have been happy to stay there.

Good Location & Value for Money”

Hotel Royal is located away from the crowds, but still within walking distance (10 minute brisk walk) to the Ruins of St. Paul and about 15 minutes to Senado Square. Otherwise, board public bus #19 (MOP3.2) from a bus stop diagonally opposite the hotel (ask hotel front desk). Check in was a breeze and the friendly Filipina staff (Rose) at Reception was helpful to dispense advice on how to get around Macau and provide updates on the latest events (Dragon Boat festival) in town. Hotel is not within the hectic touristy areas, thus, it is relatively quiet, which we liked. The Vasco Da Gama Park (heavily concreted park with underground car park below) is directly in front of hotel. Thus, request for higher level rooms facing the park – unblocked views. We got to stay at the 17th (highest) storey, which offered fantastic views towards Zhuhai. Room is well appointed and neat. Although not big, it is sufficient to accommodate 2 guests ( three would be a real squeeze). Water pressure is strong and the air-con works. Bed is comfortable enough. One side of the bedside drawers had been tastefully modified into a coffee table – nice touch. LED TV has many channels (in several languages). There is a convenience store on the left of hotel (as you leave hotel) and several eateries on left and right of hotel. We discovered a night bazaar catering to budding artists and craftsmen at nearby Tap Seac Square. The lush Lou Lim Ieoc Gardens is within a 10 minute brisk walk. Location wise, it is ideal – quiet neighbourhood and yet within walking distance to the cultural areas. There is an in-house casino as well, but we did not patronize. There is a gym & indoor swimming pool at 3rd storey – ideal for swimming in privacy amidst a densely built up environment. Hotel provides free shuttle buses to & from the Main ferry terminal from Hong Kong (30 minute intervals) as well as a daily afternoon shuttle to Studio City in Cotai area (check timing with front-desk). I’ll probably stay here aga

Decent hotel and service with a smile”

15mins walk to attraction, affortable price and comfortable room

This is my first time in Macau and Royal hotel really gives me a great memory for it. Royal hotel provides comfortable, tidy and clean room with affortable price. Two thumbs up for their great service such as shutter bus service, taxi rental, tips for attraction etc. I'm so surprise that they willing to spend times for each customer to explain their shutter bus schedule, discount ticket to Macau tower and many more. I'll definatelly recommend this hotel to my friends and family who visiting Macau.

Royal Treatment”

Excellent rooms Free coffee at the casino Great location for casinos and cultural sites
Some rooms have no view (view of a wall) Small casino

The Royal Hotel is tucked away in the heart of Macau. Its location is closer to St Pauls ruins than the casinos but this is what makes the hotel really great. Still walking distance to the casinos the surrounding streets are full of interesting restaurants and culture. If your looking for a real Macau experience this hotel is the best option. The rooms and facilities are excellent - and its one of the cheaper hotels in Macau. Service at the hotel was the best I have seen in Macau - friendly staff who are genuinely happy to help. Casino is small - but they serve free coffee 24/7 and have a decentl variety of computerised 'table' games.

An excellent choice”

Good location, new and clean, nice decoration, friendly staff.
Hard beds.

At first I doubted the hotel since the location is at a narrow one-way street. However, when I entered the lobby, I was greeted by a friendly bellboy who kindly took my luggages and even called for the receptionist to serve me when someone cut my queue. Royal Hotel is located near the city center. Senado Square is just around the corner and it takes only about 10-15 minutes walk to reach Grand Lisboa hotel/casino. Opposite the hotel is a small park, and there is a 7 Eleven nearby just in case you need something urgently. The room is nicely decorated, everything is new and clean, and there is also complimentary internet in room. Staff are friendly. The only thing that disappointed me was that I was given a smoking room not as I requested. Nonetheless, Royal Hotel is good choice and I will return there again the next time I visit Macau.

Our place in Macau”

Value for money, excellent rooms, well located to soak up the history of Macau, staff very helpful, in-house restaurants were well priced and excellent quality. Now our place to stay in Macau.
It's hard to fault it even though there was a major renovation going on to the exterior of the building this did not affect our enjoyment. We would have liked to see Wireless Broadband as we have given up carrying the PC anymore and rely on the IPhone; however, access to the internet is provided in their Business centre.

We chose the Hotel from the Agoda booking site and hoped that the photos and script were accurate - and we were not let down and we will stay again. Our arrival was faultless in the Hotel provided coach from the Ferry terminal and check-in was handled quickly and we were delighted to find the room was exactly as advertised and photographed and spotlessly clean. The location served us well since this time in Macau we wanted to take in all the historical sites and we found everything within easy walking distance. We took advantage of the Executive rooms deal that included buffet breakfast which set us up for the day; it also included cocktails in the early evening but we were rarely back in time for this delight. We were pleasantly surprised to see that their free shuttle bus included a couple of trips a day to the new Venetian Casino/Hotel which is certainly worth seeing, actually quite mind-blowing what they have achieved there and a pleasant way to pass an evening when the historical side of Macau is not available.
