Twice I have used the Hotel Ruby and both times I have been extremely pleased. Not only is this hotel a great value but it is extremely clean and comfortable. It is in a great location, in the middle of Ponderay/Sandpoint, near many restaurants, stores, and recreational areas. But the best thing about this hotel is its very friendly, helpful staff. You win every way!

Great hotel. friendly staff”
Very nice room. Everything was clean. Bed comfortable. Allowed dogs for $15 per night. This was not mentioned until we booked in, but was sort of expected. Continental breakfast included was a wide range of yummy food. Having a bit of a mobility problem not having an elevator was a hard . We had to maneuver dog cage and our cases etc up stairs. This is our only negative. For most people this would not be a problem.

Perfect Stay-Cation”
We loved our time with our daughter and her boyfriend. In the hot afternoon, we sat outside on the patio that adjoins the indoor pool to enjoy the sun. The pool has all glass windows and huge glass slider door so you still feel connected to those in your group who are enjoying one of their hot tubs. When it got cooler, the Ruby Crew came outside and started up one of the fireplaces for us. What a perfect place to unwind.

Comfortable stay”
We had a pleasant stay at Ruby . It was clean, and quiet. The breakfast was good- yoghurt, fresh fruit, cereals, waffle maker, bagels cream cheese. The room was small but served our purpose.

Overall”
Upon arrival, room requested was not available. Went from double queen bedroom to two single queen rooms, but did not get for same price (higher). No frig or microwave in rooms. Had some boxes to go to trash, so ask front desk if they could have cleaning crew remove...they said yes, but didn't happen. Pool and hot tub were clean, but dominated by children (loud).

Hello and thank you for your feedback. We're sorry that your stay was not as desired. The hotel has changed management and many strides have been made to ensure everyone enjoys their stay. For instance, we have a two hour period at night when only adults can use the pool and spas. Additionally, in the event of overbookings, we do not add an additional charge when changing from one room with two queen beds, to two rooms with one queen each. We have many options for adjoining rooms to turn into a "suite" of sorts. All rooms now have fridges, and most have microwaves. We're happy to place a microwave in any room at a guest request, however. We hope you will give us another try. We would like to give you the best stay possible. Vacation ”
Stayed in the back to the 50’s room. Later heard they convert the room to a regular room. This would be a huge mistake. When you have something memorable leave it along. We would come back to this room not just this hotel.

One night stay”
We stayed the night on our way to Schweitzer. The location is pretty good, just 25 min drive. The pool was nice, but there were not enough towels. The air conditioner in the room struggled to keep a constant temperature, so it kept getting too hot or too cold all the night, which made it hard to have a good night sleep. The breakfast was ok, other similar hotels offer a better breakfast.

Poor staff”
It’s was clean hotel. No staff at desk at lobby. Made 3 trips down there with no luck and they kicked us out of pool at 9pm cause we have young children, when there was other young families

Hello and thank you for your feedback. We're very sorry that service was not up to our normal standards during your stay. We did experience some serious staffing shortages over the summer, which did impact front desk operations, especially in the late evenings. We also understand the desire to use the pool later than the time stated on the door. We reserve the last two hours for adults to enjoy the pool while it is quiet. We will work with staff to ensure they are asking all users under 18 to exit the pool at 9:00 pm as the policy states.
We showed up for check in and they had given our room away. After 30 minutes we finally got a roo. ”
They had given away our room and then tried to give us a one queen room with 3 people, one being an 11 year old. We stated no way and they began to state they would just issue a refund and send on our way. By that time it is 930 and we are miles away from home. We said we would try to make the one queen bed work, even though we were not happy because they had a sun bed in the window that we were going to try to use. After about 10 minutes the clerk said he had a room that was down for maintenance and we could use that room. We were grateful. However, the room had a weird musty/wet smell to it. All in all, we most likely will not stay here unless there are no other options. We did think the feature of the outdoor fireplace was very neat.

The room was so small that my husband went bonkers. There was not even one chair to sit in. The pool was too small to actually swim in. The room was clean and the staff was helpful when we cancelled the rest of our 6 day stay after one night. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who’s claustrophobic like my husband!!!

Booked an accessible room which I didn't get. Bathroom floor extremely slippery, which being disabled only made things worse. Evening staff was not friendly, wasn't personable and wouldn't fix my problem of the kind of room. Hotel reeked of marijuana the first night. Possibly staff. Breakfast skimpy.
