Great Location, Excellent Staff, Delicious meal”
Hotel Sanrakuso is at great location next to the beach. It is easy get to by bus, with stop right at the front door. The view of Shirahama beach is spectacular. The staff were quite friendly, even for those can't speak English, they did their best to address our needs. The food was delicious and well served. Down-side was the overall facilities are relatively old and worn.

Best location to enjoy Shirahama Beach view”
Shirahama Beach is right in front of the hotel, which gives the best experience to enjoy the open-air bath and enjoy the panoramic beach view at the same time. Facilities are well maintained despite the hotel has its history. Staff is very nice and helpful and made you feel welcomed during the stay. Will come back again when visiting Shirahama next time!

Perfect location right in front of the beach”
I would say that it's a perfect experience staying at this hotel. Especially the in-room food service, a must-try item. This hotel provides hot spring service as well and the famous Shirahama beach is just right in front of the hotel. Highly recommend for family and couples, and I'll surely stay at this hotel again next time:) If there is something that need improvement, It will be even better if the staffs converse in English though, but not much issue about that even if they don't.

Excellent service, food, onsen with great location”
We spent 2 nights in this hotel and i would rate the overall stay experience 9/10. The hotel is abit old but very well maintained. the in-house onsen is awesome where u dont need to share the onsen with the others. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel which provides easy access to the major attraction places in shirahama and the shirahama beach is just located opposite of the hotel. u can see the entire beach from the room balcony and wr really love the traditional japanese kimono provided by the hotel which we weared to roam around in the hotel.

the hotel all room facing beach. only 2 minutes walk across the road then u will reach the beach. walking distance 5 minutes to eating alley. and 10 minutes walking distance to Daiso shopping. infront of the hotel got bus stop , hotel provide free shuttle to shirahama station.

Great Ocean Side Hotel”
Hotel is not really new but very comfortable. Japanese Rooms give you an authentic experience - mattresses are put up in the evening by hotel staff. The Spa is nice (though not open air) and directly in the hotel. Staff is really attentive and friendly. Transportation from Shirahama Train Station to the Hotel can be very easy (free Shuttle bus! check timetable!) or a bit more complicated with local buses. The Ocean view from the rooms is just awesome.

Worth It Just For The Onsen ”
Absolutely loved this hotel. It is right opposite a beautiful beach with restaurants within walking distance. If you arrive outside of the free hotel shuttle bus, get the Meiko Bus from bay 2 to Hashiriyu bus stop. It is stop number S-16 and costs ¥400. It virtually stops right outside the hotel. Be prepared for a steep climb up the driveway though. We had room 515 which had a lovely view of the water and was on the same floor as the restaurant. The room was large and had all the amenities needed. We had booked a bed and breakfast package but in hindsight it might have been better to book a package with dinner as well. The first night we were a bit lost but soon found some good restaurants about a 10 minute walk away to the right as you come out of the hotel. To the left is Fisherman's Wharf. Just follow the road around until you find it. Lunch there consists of choosing the seafood that delights you and having it cooked on the spot. Very reasonable prices. The best thing of all is the hot baths in the hotel. They are on the 2nd floor and alternate daily between the two i.e. male and female switch each day so you get to experience both. This was our first experience of a public hot bath and we LOVED it. All included in the price of your hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an early train trip and they arranged a box breakfast for us. Wake up calls were spot on and taxis arranged. If you do need to take a taxi to the station it is under ¥2000. We paid ¥1780 I think. This hotel delivers the goods and is well worth staying at.

Nice hotel but should be renovated”
The hotel service and staff was great, but the building itself should be renovated. Almost everything is old (rooms, corridors with old and dirty carpet, wifi only available at the lobby does not work well...). Nobody to serve a coffee at the bar in the morning, and beverages are poor in the evening. The restaurant is not enough big to welcome so many guests for breakfast and dinner. The time to eat is not enough large. And there were TOO MANY GROUPS (Chinese tourists are too noisy and disrecpectful!!!!!). We would appreciate if there were several departures of bus shuttle from the hotel to Shirahama station with a booking system (not a first come, first served...). The hotel can be a high-end one if services and facilities are improved.

Generally good but could improve”
We really enjoyed staying by Shirahama beach and our room was in a perfect position to enjoy lovely views of it. The location was great (less than a minute to the beach and 5-10 mins from the fisherman's complex which had some really nice restaurants). The hotel provided a free shuttle to key sights but this was only once per day and there was no return journey offered. The staff struggled a lot with English. At one point we asked for an iron over the phone and this was not understood. I asked to speak to someone who spoke English and this was not understood either. Most of our requests required 2 or 3 staff members to try to interpret what we were saying. The rooms were spacious albeit a little outdated but the futon beds were put away every day while we were at breakfast and not put out again until 7pm which made it difficult if you wanted a rest in the day. Definitely our favourite part of the hotel was the karaoke rooms which were cheap, had a wide variety of Japanese and western music, a bar and the friendliest member of staff that we came across in the hotel. This is a good hotel in a good location at a reasonable price. It's suitable for non-Japanese travelers if you don't require any assistance and are willing to find out bus times, local restaurants etc. yourself.

A pleasant stay”
The hotel is across the street of the beautiful white sand beach. The room was a bit old, but it's clean. Dinner was served in the guest room, so expect some oily smell in the room. The food was very good. Breakfast was buffet style, both western and Japanese food, served on the 5th floor. The Japanese breakfast was delicious. The staffs were nice and friendly. Their English was limited, so plz do your research before you go. It's a bit hard to ask their recommendations around the area. Their souvenir store on 2nd floor has a good variety of selections at good prices. By good prices I mean they're the same as you will get them from the market or else where. So if you don't want to spend time shopping around, the store is a good choice to shop.

Friendly staff, awesome seaview room with balcony, delicious japanese dinner but breakfast is so so. Hotel constructed in 1980 style and ceiling a bit worn Hot spring bath good and. Can used almost 24 hrs but no towel provided at bath so you hv to reuse your room towel if go more than once. I like the waiter who explain the Japanese dish to us and how to eat in a better way. You hv more fun and enjoy more. Hotel conveniently located and we'll connected by public bus to other tourist spots. It is a value for money hotel

Exceptional”
I had my stay with my girl friend on the 9th floor, the luxury floor, the view of the beach was excellent, I could enjoy this view while having a hot spring in my room! The staffs services were stars too, they introduced and explained a lot with fluent english! While dinner time a staff serve us inside our room, it took us about an hour and a half to finish the whole meal. It was excellent and delicious! Traffic there was not a problem for us because we had a car, family mart was just a 2 minutes drive from the hotel.

annex is building next to the hotel ”
the room we booked was in the annex , or the building located next to the hotel and connected with a walkway. No shower room in the room, and we need to walk out through the walkway to the onsen in the hotel main building which is very inconvenience to us with small kid. the room is spacious and there is nice sea view right in front us, coz the beach is right in front of the building. The dinner and breakfast were in the main hotel building and the dinner is ok, breakfast is buffet style with good varieties of choices.

I booked onsen included room, breakfast and dinner were served inside the room. The meals were rich and delicious. Although the hotel lobby is a bit old-fashioned, my 2-days there was very satisfactory. The onsen is good, convenient location.The beach just in front of the balcony is awesome. However, the male staff there are not what are expected as polite as the general Japanese do. They look like the disco bouncers to me.
