Old but Okay”
If you are travelling on a tight budget, this is a decent hotel. We choose this hotel cos of the close location where we wanted to go. Steep staircase cos no lift if you are at the upper floor. No more free breakfast as before. But overall good stay.
I guess best CP in Sandakan city”
But government tax(10RM/Night) is still a monetary burden.
Hotel was basic and needs some refurbishment No lift which means you carry your bags upstairs Hotel located near bus station and restaurants, but next door to Karaoke Bars which play music until 2.00am. Value for money
An acceptable classic”
I say that one of the bet things I liked about this hotel was that it was not centrally located. That is because I spent one night in a hotel that was centrally located, and even though I was 3 floors up from the ground floor it was so noisy I had a hard time sleeping. There was still some music noise from the clubs across the street, but I found sleep much easier to come by here, and if I wanted to be back at the original hotel I only had a 10 minute walk in front of me- great trade off to me. Additionally, the city center is rat infested- I had no problems with critters (other than one little gecko) during my stay here. The hotel is close to the mini-bus station, with the regular bus station just a little farther towards the center. The long distance bus station is a long ways away, though- 20 ringit by taxi if you are in a hurry. My room was clean, but one light was out (acceptable, the room probably would have been too bright with the second bulb) and the fan in the bathroom was broken. This is a classic building, you can see it standing in pictures from before the city was razed by the Japanese and then again by the Americans, so, yes, there is no elevator and the staff wasn't helpful with my bags. I had a corner room, though, and the corner rooms (X05 and X06) can see water, which was nice. I didn't try the breakfast, but I rarely ever eat in hotels even when they include meals- I would rather eat where the locals think the food is good, and that certainly wouldn't be this hotel. My biggest annoyance was the lack of hot water dispensers either in the room or at least one per floor, at this price in this area it should be a requirement. The electrical control (where you plug something in to enable electricity) was a physical switch, so a business card was able to keep my A/C on all day, important because the A/C wasn't good enough to cool the room to a tolerable temperature (24-25c) within even an hour of turning it on.
The stay was pleasant. The room was ok, considering the fact that I pay only RM51 per night. The toilet is a bit small, but it was not a beg deal to me. The hotel was really close to city center. Shopping complex and historic sites in Sandakan were just a few minutes away. However, it was the staff who steal my heart. They were attentive, very friendly and very helpful. They even help me organize my trip to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center, Gomuntong Cave and the Kinabatangan River Cruise.
Below par performance”
The hotel has no lift, so we have to walk up to the second floor with our luggage. The room is of standard space, and of average standard. The toiletries appeared to be like age old stuff. And there was an illegal pub across the street, so it was noisy up till 4am. Taxis gathered below the hotel and I hope I didn't bunk into a brothel. @@
Good hotel with valuable price”
good pricing for the hotel/Unfortunately, breakfast provided are all the same for everyday. No lift provided and for those who carry heavy luggage, need to climb up the stair case and it is too suffer. nothing attraction at nearby area besides the seafront
Recommended to stay in this hotel fair rate room with all basic need and clean can enjoy sea-view. Good location walking distance to shopping malls, restaurants and central market. The staffs were good manner, friendly and good performance.Worth booking with breakfast.
Location is good. Staff could not speak English. Hotel is original a shop front convert ion to hotel, so, no lift. You have to take your luggages to climb to 3 floors and the staircase are a long and steep one. The room is small and smelly. It is a very budget hotel with very basic stuff. The bed sheet and pillows are smelly and the co our looks very dirty too. The only good thing in this hotel is cheap and centrally located in the town. However, there are three small town in sandakan, and apparently this is the main old town whereby the other two, are new and hotels are better. Not recommend anyone to stay here.
we did enjoy our stay here.. the rooms clean, large bathroom, and for what we paid with agoda breakfast was ok for a budget hotel. everything is very near to the hotel bus stop, shops, and the waterfront with lots of resturants. the staff very kind and always having time to chatt.
Clean affordable hotel”
room smallish but neat, clean and tidy. most fittings are new and the desk staff are helpful and polite. the location is great; a block away from town centre and the lovely sandakan central market. the hotel is also a stone's throw from the esplanade with a beautiful view of the islands off sandakan.
Bedsheet, towel, carpet, toilet not clean. Staff not friendly. ”
The price is standard at rm59/night for twin beds. No discount as per you advertised. No drinks in room at all even if they provided glasses and jug. Not being inform if we need to bring in our own drinks from outside.
I don't fancy carpeted flooring especially so that the hotel is old and run down. The staircase flights took my breath away especially at the 4th floor. Well what we paid is what we get; budget price.
No water ”
No water . Air cond not function staff not friendly . As a reception u should serve your guest so kind . Please retire if you dont want to be a reception
It is a nice place to stay. The staff is helpful and friendly.
clean quite place. would go back. very high value for money.
Clean, cheap, hot water friendly staff. No lift
- near laundry shop - walkable distance to downtown - cheap - clean - cigarette smell in corridor
Best Budget Hotel”

Good location and friendly staff”
Despite the name this is not a seafront hotel. Do not expect much - the wi-fi connection is erratic. You will get there the soap size of the holy communion. One egg, one toast and coffee for the included breakfast - ask in advance because they need 20 min to cook it. But it has central location and budget rates.
