A Superb Hotel ”

Location, Food, Friendly Staff

This hotel is a legendary hotel in Sigiriya area, and most famous for its Sigiriya Rock view directly from its swimming pool. The Standard Room we stayed in is also nice, although it is quite obvious that certain parts of the room are aging and therefore require renovation. The bathroom is newly renovated, as it looks new and modern, with powerful shower and stable hot water. Guests who stay at this hotel most likely will need to have dinner at hotel, because there is virtually no good restaurant nearby as Sigiriya is a very small village. Food for both dinner and breakfast is very nice, with a great selection of both western and Sri Lankan food. We arrived very late in the afternoon, so we had little chance to spend time at the swimming pool that offers amazing view of the Sigiriya Rock. Therefore, it is advisable that those who would like to stay at this hotel to arrive around noon or early afternoon, and then spend the rest afternoon at their swimming pool.

First night of honeymoon in Sri Lanka ”

My husband and I stayed in Hotel Sigiriya the first night of our honeymoon. We landed in Colombo at 3 AM and made it to Sigiriya by 6:30 AM so our room was not ready upon arrival. We ate their breakfast buffet which had a good spread of tasty options. The hotel itself is very clean and you can see them constantly cleaning common areas. Our room was no different- clean, comfortable, with all the basic amenities needed. Our only gripe was that our TV remote wasn’t working, which usually wouldn’t be a big deal because we rarely spend time in the hotel room, but it happened to pour rain for our day there and we resorted to watching TV. Because of the rain, we did not get to use the pool either, but it looked very well maintained. The hotel staff was very friendly and polite. We noticed that there were a lot of big tourist groups staying at the hotel, which made for a very congested morning when the tours would depart around 8AM. Location-wise, it is a quick drive to Sigiriya Rock.

Pool with a view!”

View from the pool, friendly staff, walking distance to Sigiriya.

Excellent stay. Friendly staff (special note for the young lady at the front reception as she was exceptional in personality and customer service - her previous experience hotel experience in Singapore has served her well). The ability to walk 10 minutes or so and be at the base of the Sigiriya rock was the reason that we booked the hotel (along with the pool view picture of course) and we were not disappointed. The breakfast buffet with omelette bar was a nice touch too. For our other meals we went into the village where there are several small restaurants/street stalls, so we contributed to the small businesses as well. The only reality for tourists that enjoy alcoholic beverages is that the prices are very high in comparison to everything else in the country - stock up at the airport is my friendly advice. Also, entrance to the Sigiriya park is 3900 rupees each and only in cash.

Hotel Sigiriya Rocks !!!”

The ambience of this hotel seems to have been radiated from the presence of the Rock itself , as there was such a calming energy ,especially at the pool area ( where Sigiriya Rock Peak is visible ) Special mention to the staff , who were very professional . The hotel also provides drivers accommodation with food. Some good bargains at the Jewelry shop as the hotel group has its own mines . Tips: Room 2 was very comfortable . Order a Mojito , Climb Rock at 7 am, to avoid crowds if you're claustrophobic like me as there is an enclosed spiral staircase which gives a bit of panic which you could be stuck in if walking with crowds - it takes less than an hour to climb both ways , take photos and hurry back to pool at hotel . Don't bother with venturing out - the food is better and approx same price as the few local eats nearby

Exceptionally good service by Front Office”

Our one night stay was just awesome. We had driven 7 hours to Sigiriya from Colombo and reached Hotel Sigiriya at 7:30PM at night, only to realise that we had mistakenly made the reservation for the following night and not that night. Which meant we were at a hotel, deep in the forests of Sigiriya with an invalud reservation and a 100% fully occupied hotel! The reception team however were awesome and were very understanding. They still managed to find a room for us and accomodated us with perfect hospitality, and smiling faces. The rest of the stay was wonderful with an early morning climb to the top of the Lion Rock, and departure soon afterwards. The restaurant was very nice too with extremely friendly and efficient staff. The fiod was yummy too. Thank you Hotel Sigiriya.

Couple of days in Sigiriya”

Great value for money, amazing breakfast and dinner, stunning view of the Sigiriya rock

We checked in at the Sigiriya hotel after one night at the Sigiriya village hotel next door. We couldn't be happier for this decision and regret we didn't check in here in the first place. Newly renovated rooms, clean, great plasma TV.. Everything that Sigiriya village didn't have at half the price! The restaurant is also very good with cooks making your dinner in front of you. Sigiriya rock is very close and the view on it from the pool area is stunning.

Fantastic hotel in a most beautiful place”

monkeys, service, bature

The nature of Sri Lanka is so beautiful. This hotel is located solitary in the nature with a magnificent view of Sigiriya. The entire hotel has been built to fit in with the nature and I must say I have not stayed in a hotel like Sigiriya before, it is quite unique. As the hotel lies in the nature expect to see monkey jumping around close to the pool and on the roofs, there will be monitor lizards crawling around and bird song everywhere. For me this was fantastic. I enjoy nature and get relaxed when being close to nature and for me this was a fantastic place. I loved to be able to sit outdoors and watch Sigiriya in the background while the monkeys were playing the trees not so far away. The food at the hotel is very good and the rooms are of good size as well. The staff is friendly, they smile at you and greet you all the time. Also, service is quick here, in the other hotels we stayed at in Sri Lanka it took forever to get any service and you had to hunt the staff to get something done. At this hotel they responded every time within minutes to fix whatever problem we had and we never had to wait a long time for food. In summary, this hotel gives you a unique experience combined with good service and if you enjoy nature don't miss this hotel.

Good view and Good service”

Good view of Sigiriya Rock and Comfortable room

Most favorite point is the view of Sigiriya Rock from the lobby and swimming pool. When I checked in, staff brought me to the lobby where we could see the rock and gave me welcome drink so that I felt very happy with forgetting my tired caused by moving from Colombo. The hotel is a little bit far from the entrance of Sigiriya Rock but it is possible to walk on to there and enjoy wild animals such as monkey and land monitors. And also, staff were very kind and gave me an arrangement of charter of three wheeler for sight seeing.Meals at restaurant were very nice. Totally, this hotel has very good value to stay and enjoy at Sigiriya.

great hotel, recommened ”

Hotels view of the sigiriya rock is as fantastic in reality as it is on the photos, arrived and offered a cool drink in front of the pool. Great hotel, fantastic location, good base to explore the rock fortress and ancient city, a really enjoyable part of our holiday. The room was very good indeed, everything you could wish for, even an elephant made out of towels for turn down service. A few minor issues but these were resolved by the friendly front desk staff. This was a really nice room, close to the reception. The meals we had in the restaurant were good as was the breakfast buffet.

a wonderful place to stay”

a wonderful hotel which we highly recommend. the location is great with walking distance to sigiriya (lion rock) and a short tuk tuk ride to pidurangala rock (we paid 700rs return). you are greeted with smiles and a welcome drink while you sit down by the pool and get the stunning view of sigiriya in the background. the rooms are very comfortable with a nice bed, air conditioning, complimentary water and coffee every day and toiletries. the bar is great and they have an al a carte menu for lunch and dinner. they also have a dinner buffet options. for breakfast there is only a buffet which we recommend with a big range of hot sri lankan and western dishes as well as fruit, porridge, cereal and pastries. we're both vegetarian and there was a good range of choices on the al a carte menu and buffet. you can charge everything from the bar and restaurant to your room and pay by card at checkout which was great to save using cash. if you're after a taxi/driver service it's best to ask outside

Its a beautiful hotel with an ancient village looks. The service is also really good

Hi, I stayed at the hotel for 1 day. Its a lovely hotel with all the facilities like swimming pool, spa, massage dining facility. The rooms a beautiful and spacious with all the facilities like lockers, mini fridge almiras. The staff is nice and cooperative. Also the location of Hotel is excellent. You can see the view of Sigiriya Fort just from the Hotel premises. The Sigiriya Rock fort is located 1/2 Km away from Hotel. If you are planning to visit Sigiriya Fort, then I would completely recommend to all the people to visit this hotel.

Comfort and view of the rock..”

Stopped three nights in late January. Room spacious and well equipped, bottled water provided daily. Lounge/bar area open sided to the pool, alcohol at fair prices for Sri Lanka (large local beer or glass of wine under £4). Buffet for breakfast and dinner has huge variety of western and Sri lankan foods. Breakfast starts early to allow for those who wish to climb the rock in relative cool but also ends promptly at 9:30am if you were thinking of a lie in! Everywhere is clean and all staff will greet you with a smile. The approach is not impressive over a rough track but position of hotel gives a great view of Sigiriya rock so perhaps unavoidable. Would definitely go back.

quality rooms, awe inspiring views and the staff were incredibly friendly

Awesome. We booked hotel sigiriya from a website that didn't offer great photos and so when we arrived we were surprised by the resort and the services the hotel had. Incredibly friendly staff followed by a very nice room with cold a/c and amazing shower. The view of the rock is impressive and we spent many hours with cocktail in hand staring and relaxing. Their spa was great but i do recommend mosquito repellent for evening treatments. The cocktails were a bit pricey but considering the standard of the hotel a good value. Highly recommended place to base yourself when visiting Sigirya Rock. Enjoy!

Fantastic hotel with great service”

Clean rooms, clean pool, great grounds and big selection of food

i stayed in a triple room at hotel sigiriya with two other friends. it is the perfect base to climb sigiriya rock and visit nearby habarana and polonawurra. the hotel is large, clean and has beautiful grounds - it is more like a resort than a hotel. the service cannot be flawed and the buffets are the best i have experienced in sri lanka. there is no wifi access but there is a free business centre that can be used. the bike hire was unavailable but otherwise the hotel cannot really be faulted.

Beautiful pool and grounds, great view of Sigiriya Rock, decent restuaurant, nice spa

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Sigiriya. It is a lovely resort set on tropical grounds. The pool is very nice and has a great view of Sigiriya Rock. The rooms are clean and modern and have all the amenities. There is a full bar and the restaurant has a great selection of food. There is a spa and I got a wonderful massage. Overall, this is a great place to spend a few days and relax, and to see Sigiriya and tour the area.

Comfortable hotel in good location for sightseeing”

Quiet, friendly, jungle setting, good service

a very nice hotel with all rooms at ground level in a bungalow style. room comfortable and big enough and as long as you are not expecting 5-star it is fine. service friendly and discrete; they always seem to remember which room you are in. pool refreshing. food very good in the open air restaurant, music provided one evening. set in a quiet location, one has the feeling of being in the jungle. ideally located for excursions to sigiriya rock, elephant safaris (don't miss the chance to see 150 elephants), dambulla cave temples and other ancient sites. i was there 2 nights, but could envisage spending a week, doing all the surrounding activities one at a time each day, relaxing near the pool with a good book when it got too warm. not for people looking for an active nightlife, but rather those wanting to relax and unwind from their daily bustle.

This hotel surpassed our expectations. The food was amazing in the buffet restaurant. The view of the Sigiriya Rock was incredible. The pool was clean and refreshing, lovely to enjoy with a cold drink after a warm day out climbing the rock or on an elephant safari (a must by the way! the absolute best way to see the elephants, don't ride them, go and view them, their babies, the amazing birds and other wildlife as they should be - the friendly staff at the hotel can help you do this). Our driver also seemed pretty well looked after by this hotel too.

We stayed 2 nights in Feb 2016. A great hotel in a great location a short distance from Sigiriya Rock ( walking distance if you are keen). Rooms are truly 4 star. The hotel has beautiful gardens and a decently sized sparkling clear pool. The food is exceptional and reasonably priced. We had breakfast, lunch ( by the pool) and dinner here. The chef has tried to cater all tastes and nationalities and has done it very well.
