They falsely claim to be on Dashaswamedh Ghat, its actually on Chausatthi Ghat. Not approachable by any vehicle not even by cycle rickshaw. If you have some luggage with you, its going to be a burden. The doorman doesn't have any courtesy and a greedy man. The Pics are far from real.
The hotel is very good. Owner is very helpful. Room was nice with Ganga View. I would definitely recommend the hotel for young people. The main problem is the entrance. You have to use a remarkable numbers of stiff stairs for going to the hotel, which is very difficult for aged persons. Though the owner of the hotel gave us the way to enter from the first floor so we were able to avoid at least 50% of the stairs.
5 * location - 4 * price - 3* service”
Pros first - 1.Excellent location couldn't be better. 2.One of the Maharaja rooms(406) can accommodate 4 adults though the space remain for any movement will be really cramped. 3. Wheel chairs from reception was arranged promptly for elderly people. 4. Lift is available. 5. Food is ok but overpriced. 6. Boat tours were arranged through reception promptly & reasonably priced too. Now Cons 1. For room cleaning we have to ask everyday . 2. Everyday we have to ask for teakit & hotel management is not sure who will provide it , room service or restaurant. 3. Towels need immediate replacement with new ones. 4. For replacement of towels also we have to remind. All in all I shall recommend the place for location & few staffs but be ready to walk a while ( 6/7 minutes) for transport & 12-15 mints to Kashi Viswanath temple.
Nice spot right on the River”
This was my first time in Varanasi, so it took a little effort to find this place - literally, right on the river - but I'm happy about the location. The staff were really nice, the food upstairs was good and they were helpful in arranging a side trip to Sarnath.
A very friendly hotel”
One must take into account the City of Varanasis as a whole when making a review. It is a very old city with mainly crumbling buildings, narrow laneways and lots of poverty. Our hotel was in a perfect location. Rooms are small but have all one really needs, without beig lavish. Pay a little extra and take a room with balcony overlooking the river and not stop movement. Very good food in the rooftop restaurant with pleasant service, although slow. But hat is all over India. Lovely staff, particularly Amid. He will go out of his way to make sure you see everything in Varanasis. He will also help with other travel plans and booking throughout India. He is more than just the perfect guid. Will be your friend.
Excellent view of the Ganga and the Ghats”
The distance and the approach to the guest house are suitable for the able-bodied and the not-so-old. So if you plan to book this place, ensure you do not have people who've difficulty in walking and climbing/alighting the steep stairs. The Housekeeping needs to be spruced up. They've excellent, helpful and courteous staff. Pandey ji the Manager, Vishu the guide, Manoj, Prashant and Yadav ji in the restaurant are ever so forthcoming. If the quality of the food improves a little more (since Varanasi offers a great cuisine), the place is an excellent one. The focus of the guest house however seems the foreign tourist. i'am however told that the Management soon plans to introduce a viable transport system from the motorable road to the guest house. All in all, a good place to stay.
Best property in Varanasi on a budget.”
A great property if you want to be close to the Ganga. Right on the steps. Very close to The Ganga Arti as well. Also the Ghat is a very good for bathing as the steps are clean and go well inside the Ganga. If you stay in Room 407 the views are the best only other property with a similar view is Brijrama Palace with a price 46k per night plus taxes. So this room at 7k is a steal.
Location is good for young people but not so much for old people. Only good point it's on the banks of ganga otherwise dirty ,zero value for money.dont even have menus in room .room com doesn't work .
Right by the riverfront ”
Our room overlooked the Ganges river which was wonderful. You can see the sunrise from your room. There is a rooftop restaurant as well but the prices are a bit pricey. The staff was kind and helpful.
thanks for ur review we are very happy to know that u had a memo0rable stay here .hope to serve u again at hotel sita
Amazing views and friendly helpful staff”
Hotel location and views is why I chose this hotel and that didnt disappoint. The best part of my stay was how friendly and helpful the staff were with my needs. Rooms are very basic and the impression I got is that's the standard around the ghats so don't have high expectations. Watch out for the crazy monkeys that hang around the hotel.
Fantastic location and hotel where Goldie Hawn once stayed. Also, the local guide Ragesh has wonderful knowledge and conducts really informative walking tours. Note to Ragesh, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org as it will be my pleasure to build you a web site.
Great location, very noisy at night managers are very disorganized ”
I stay here for two nights and couldn't sleep at all because of the large packs of howling and barking dogs beneath the hotel windows. Even with earplugs. Managers botched our requests for pick up and drop off.
Excellent spot on the Ganga to explore Varanasi ”
This hotel is somewhat hard to get find but a local will help out- ask. Vehicles can't get down the narrow lanes that are above the Ghats. The rooms are clean and tidy- the food is fine and the roof top resturants has a 180* view of the Ganga. Your only 10 minutes walk along the river ghats to get to where the nightly Puja take place. Catch a boat at sunrise to view the new light bathing the ghats full of Hindus who come to this Holy river .
The best hotel in Varanasi”
SITA Guest House is the best hotel we stayed in India during our 3-weeks holidays! The owner and his sons are really friendly and helpful. They organised us a boat trip (fair price), they allowed to take shower in the evening, after check out (it was about 50 C, and we were really in need after whole day sightseeing). They told us where to sip really good Masala Chai in the neighbourhood (and it was the best Masala ever). The owner cooked a dinner specially for us, though the restaurant was already closed. The room was quite clean, AC was working, hot shower, nice river view - there was everything you need for this price :)
Great location at the ghatts in Varanasi”
Enjoyed our stay very much. Great location. Wonderful hosts. Food in the rooftop was good (we prefer to stick with the Indian menu), the hospitality was great. Contact the hotel for pickup from the airport. A taxi will leave you at the main road, about a 10 minute walk through narrow alleyways to the hotel. If course you will immediately be picked up by a guide, but knowing your guide is from the hotel makes the experience a bit more comfortable. Notes to management: a squeegee it mop in the bathroom would be really useful. Also a shelf for toiletries would be great.
Great location and good food”
Difficult to rate this place, it's less a hotel than a run-down guest house. But it's overlooking the Ganges, and it's relatively cheap. The bed and room was big enough, comfortable bed, but quite shabby room. Don't expect it to be like a standard hotel. But the TV and Wifi and shower and hot water worked, though not strong water pressure. If you can cope with the basic standard of the hotel I would recommend this place because of it's location. The rooftop restaurant overlooked the Ganges River and served surprisingly good Indian food, all vegetarian.
hotel on Ganges”
Staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant on the top floor. It's a good basic hotel close to evening Arati place. The only small inconvenience you have to walk by foot to reach it, there is no way to access directly by car. If you want to stay in the Old part of Varanasi that's a good place. Beware of drug dealers selling hashish on the ghat, don't talk to them or take anything as they may try to drug then mug the tourist
Opinion from parents staying at SIta Guesthouse”
As Parents, we have enjoyed retired life for a few years now and it was our desire to visit the holy city of Benaras or Varanasi/Kashi and this visit was truly enjoyable. We had a good stay at Sita Guesthouse visited the River Ganga for a boat ride seeing all the sights, viewed the Ganga Aarti in the evening and viewed the early morning sunrise as well. All in all it was a great trip and I feel this hotel is good for its ambience, location close to ghats and also for visits to the Kashi Vishwanath temple and Kali temple. Thank you Agoda...
good budget hostel if you know Varanasi”
I suggest this hotel to whoever already knows how Varanasi is. It's suitable if you want to stay reasonably, safely, and most of all facing Ganga. You don't need to take a long walk on the complicating narrow street to the river. The manager and his son are friendly and kind if you are friendly to them. Some staffs are sometimes rude but it may be acceptable as you know it before. It's not the hotel for whom want to stay comfortably like city hotels in Mumbai. Overall it's the best budget hostel that I have ever stayed along Gandis river. I will stay here again next time. You had better ask them to taxi arrangement if you don't know well
Great location, helpful staff”
At first sight, looks a wreck as is under renovation and some rooms missing windows! But the completed rooms are fine. Ours faced the Ganges. And we could see sunrise over the river. The manager went well out of his way to help us and make our stay memorable. The restaurant on the roof is only small, but the cooking is excellent. Good to tell the cook in advance and he will shop fresh! As there were few other guests, it was like having personal staff and service.
