Hotel Sixty3, great value of money”

easily accessible and it's new and clean

Hotel Sixty3 is very conveniently located which is on 63, Gaya street. That may be the reason why it has been called Hotel 63. The hotel is only about a fifteen-minute taxi ride from the airport and it cost only 30 Ringitts and there are a lot of shopping malls around. The Hotel is located in a busy street, but the room we stayed was not noisy and our two little children had peaceful and comfortable sleeps at night. The Sabah Tourism Board is just opposite to the Hotel and you can also find many locally famous eateries in Gaya Street or streets nearby. Although there is not a restaurant or cafe in the Hotel, looking for eating places was not at all a problem. There are also a food shop with a bakery and a convenience store next to the Hotel. The staff at the reception were very helpful. During our stay, I requested the staff at the reception to help us arrange a taxi to different places of interest, they explained to us how long it took us to get to these places, how much time we might need to finish visiting them and how much the taxi rides would cost. All the information provided was useful for us with little children to plan our journeys ahead. The staff were also very nice and friendly and they alwayws made you feel welcome. Also, there is a 24-hour polyclinic behind the Hotel, we thought it would be easy for us to get help just in case if our little children were not feeling well during our stay in Kota Kinabalu. For the room that we stayed, it was very clean, spacious and it was well-maintained each day. In all, I would say Hotel Sixty3 is worth staying and my two children had a pleasant and enjoyable stay there. I would highly recommend it to my friends.

I am coming back here again!”

This must be one of the best hotels in Kota Kinabalu! It is very near Suria Mall. The rooms are very clean and very spacious. Good for travelling families! It is a completely smoke free hotel. I love their water bottles! They are made of glass. They do away with wasteful and environmentally hazardous plastic bottles. I will definitely come back here when I next visit Kota Kinabalu. Thank you AGODA for giving me such a great deal for Hotel Sixty3! :o)

Centrally located, walking distance to attractions”

location, cleanliness, large room

Hotel Sixty3 is located right at the city centre with the major bank branches within 5 minutes walking distance. This provides convenience but at the same time made car park very difficult to find. We rented a car in Kota Kinabalu (a must if you wish to travel a little further for local food, national parks, river cruise etc) and we had to make rounds in the city centre for parking. Location of the hotel was superb. Walking distance to Jalan Gaya Sunday Market, Suria shopping mall, Jesselton Jetty for Tunku Abdul Rahman marine park and the sabah tourism office opposite the hotel. There is a nice Chinese restaurant at the back of the hotel too. High speed wifi available at the lobby and common area but signal is weak inside the room. We booked a quad room and room was big and comfortable.

Best location with superb service”

Strategically located with restaurants, tourism center and all city features and attraction within walking distance

The hotel was very clean and the service was fantastic. We had our itinerary planned to the last detail but followed the suggestion of the hotel staff which turned out for the best -- the staff were all warm and very helpful in managing our expectations about KK (they recommended we get more value for money by going to another grocery and changing our early morning job route to a safer area). Our room was spacious for our group of 4 adults and 2 children. The room was also clean with all the necessities available. Wifi connection in the room was a bit weak but this is compensated with 2 available units for free use at the lobby. In a nutshell, we loved it at Hotel Sixty3 and will definitely book here again when we return to Kota Kinabalu.

Pleased with our 4 days 3 nights stay at sixty 3”

Quality of room, service level , location

We had an excellent stay at Hotel sixty3 during our 4 days at Kota Kinabalu. Although it doesn't have any facilities, we are more than satisfied with the quality of family room which we stayed in, their housekeeping services are very prompt and good, towels are clean and fresh ( not worn out like some of those in other 3-4 star hotels). It is surprisingly quiet despite it being on Gaya street which has lots of traffic, and shop houses. It's proximity to a wide variety of food outlets was a plus for any travellers! We definitely will stay here again for our next trip and will highly recommend to all.

clean and spacious rooms

Our stay at Hotel Sixty3 in Kota Kinabalu was so convenient since it is situated at the heart of the City. Though Kota Kinabalu is not such a big City, the hotel has made it possible for us to get a good access to the bay, to the museum, restaurants nearby and the shopping centers, too. The hotel room is so clean and spacious and new. I would not have any second thoughts to book with the hotel during our next visit.

Big beds, good location, rainshower

as it was my first time in kota kinabalu, i had no idea what to expect in this unknown city. i went to trip advisor to check out on hotel reviews and got to know of hotel sixty3 and booked it through agoda. little did i expect it to be so wonderful. we booked the family deluxe room and we got double queen sized beds, a large room with a nice lcd tv, very lovely toilet with rainshower to relax, but a pity that there isn't any bathtubs; and furthermore the location was great because it's near to a large shopping centre and the famous gaya street with amazing food. downsides includes shaky wifi and lack of a breakfast cafe. but gaya street provides all the lovely food.

Everthing positive”

Clean and good location

nothing negative here. stayed in standard room with wife, very clean and wifi works well in the room( strong signal). next to hotel is a bakery and a 24 hour convenience store and 100 metres further up the road is a good supermarket with a lot om imported foodstuffs. the hotel is opposite the sabah toursim office so excursions can be easily organized from there. plenty of restaurants within a few minutes walking distance. only had two days in kota kinabalu so chose to vist mari mari cultural village on one of them as an out-of-town tour. 150 riggitt per person (about $us 50) with hotel pickup and drop off included. its about 45 minutes drive from the city. noted previous reviews on mari mari sometimes said it was more entertiianment than educational but i disagree. i learnt a lot and its quite educational especially if you are prepared to ask questions, and everyone in the tour group we were on enjoyed it. left hotel around 9am and returned to hotel around 5pm so it is effectively an all day tour and for $50 i reckon very good value given there is also a meal included which was quite good. what i liked most about it is learning how the native people utilize all the resources of the jungle to live, and i know bamboo has many uses but on this tour you will see just what an important material bamboo is for all kinds of things in their daily life. and you do get to use a real blow-pipe which is a buzz!! had a second attempt but still missed the target!!

Staff was just super. Always asking to assist”

Location and room Amenities

During our brief 3 days and 2 nights stay at the Hotel63 in Oct2012, we found almost everything to be above our expectations. All of the Hotel63 staff was excellent they met and exceeded out expectations. The location is so convenient for travelers. With in the same building complex of the Hotel63 on the sidewalk level there is a bakery/eatery and a well stocked 24 hour convenience store. Banks and ATM’s are within 1 block. Hotel63 being located directly across the street from the Kota Kinabalu tourism center makes it easy for first time and returning tourist to plan their visit. With a large and new shopping mall only a 5 minute walk from the front door makes it east to pick up those things you might have forgot to pack or even want to add to your collections. On the lower level of the shopping mall you can find a money changer also. The very large room had amenities that were all inclusive. Everything from an iron and ironing board to house slippers. Travelers can pack lightly when staying there although not all branded, they were still good quality products. Only negative we found was the free wifi and even the main business center internet in the Hotel63 had very slow speed and prone to completely drop your internet connection. I believe it may be a city wide problem as everyplace we visited in Kota Kinabalu with wifi available had the same problem of slow to no speed connections. We will certainly stay at the Hotel63 again if we find ourselves to be visitors there again.

Hotel sixty3 definitely Exceeds Expectations!!”

The massive clean room, The big rainfall shower head, The price, Room Atmosphere

After reading so much good reviews, we decided to stay at this hotel. Unfortunately, all the superior/deluxe rooms were full on Agoda (but available if reserved direct to hotel). So we booked for a family deluxe, reason why; when enquired for a standard room directly with the Hotel, it costed More than what I would be paying for for a family deluxe on Agoda. Might I add, on the downside- the sales lady i was liaising with in Hotel Sixty3 lacked friendliness, not very welcoming or informative. That aside, upon reaching the hotel, the kind man at the front desk was very helpful in giving directions, taxi fare, etc. and check-in was very fast! The Room looked like the ones in the pictures but BETTER! Central (?) A/C was adjustable. Wi-Fi available in the room (but need to keep logging in, it logs out every time the phone sleeps). There is no Room Service food menu (which is fine because there are so many restaurants nearby) Cons: TV Channels were quite limited. (More Chinese Channels than Local/International). But the Flat Screen TV connects to the internet - on demand movie/music buffets available at a cost. All in All, We paid for a budget hotel and got a 5 star hotel. I will definitely recommend this hotel to others and will be making this hotel my top choice for accomoddation in KK.

Spacious room and great location”

Good downtown location

the room is nice, clean and spacious. good location at downtown within easy walking distance to restauants and banks. there is nice bakery just next to the hotel. a supermarket within 200 yards. the spacious room is a gem you don't find too often in kota kinabalu. water is hot and pretty much has all the modern facilities. in my first four days here they were having issues with their wifi so i was not able to go internet for four days, which was a big problem for me as a business man internet was a critical factor. anyway, they finally got it fix and its been great since then, however, i still believe they can improve it better since i cannot connect using my windows 7 64 bit laptop, but have no problem with my windows xp pro laptop, weird! this hotel however, does not have a gym to workout, which is a hassle because a business needs to keep fit. accommodation is great, but some facilities such as a gym and massage service are not available.

We stayed at a 5 star resort which was a distance away from Kota Kinabalu and since it was our first trip to sabah we wanted to see a bit of the capital before flying back. Sunlit hallways with great black & white photos.”

Very clean, convenient location, friendly staff

From the outside Hotel Sixty3 doesn't look like much with it's almost 'office lobby' like feel when entering and big blue & white logo ...but this renovated boutique hotel is in a great location, the staff is friendly and accommodating. Plus the sunlit hallways with all the black & white photos add the warm historic touch which connects Hotel Sixty63 back to its neighborhood and being in Kota Kinabalu. The black & white photos are also inside the rooms. Otherwise, the decor is not very memorable except that the rooms are superclean. There is a bakery next door, Old Town Coffee across the street and lots of little eateries along the tree-lined street. Excellent value. Will stay here again when passing through.

A pleasant surprise!”

Location, Design, Staff

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. Definitely did not expect it to be this good - the room (we asked for 4 bedroom room) was spacious, clean and in simple modern design. TV channels were basic but ok. The bathroom also had a modern touch - loved the shower head on the ceiling (it was like showering in the rain). This was definitely not something we expected when we first checked into the hotel. It's a good value for what you pay for. the bed itself was comfortable, although in my opinion the pillows require replacement as they were too soft. Woke up to sore necks the following day. Aside from that, the only issue we had was with the fridge as it was not working and hardly kept our drinks cold... but that's just small stuff. Staff was attentive and very friendly... always greeted us with a smile and a nice hello. The location of the hotel is in the city centre, just to the end of gaya street. Less than 5 mins walk to Suria Sabah mall and the Jetty (to catch the boats to go island hopping). Opposite the street is a 24hour popular coffee house where it is bustling with locals, offering cheap local grubs. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would have no problem staying here if i come back to Kota Kinabalu.

Hotel Sixty3 has the charm of a classic hotel, with beautiful photos depicting Borneo and Kota Kinabalu's history in the rooms and common spaces. Before arriving KK, we received an email from Agoda that our booking at Hotel Sixty3 had been relocated to Horizon Hotel which is of the same standard. Upon checking in at Horizon Hotel, the hotel staff informed us tht they have not received our booking from Agoda but the staff at Horizon managed to get us a room and later deal with Agoda. The whole stay at the hotel was very pleasant except that from time to time we can smeel the paint odour from the aircond as the hotel was newly open a few weeks back we were told. Overall, the hotel has friendly staffs and beautiful and modern design and is located just within a walking distance to the boat terminal, sunday market and other eating/nightlife outlets.

actually this is the best choice hotel in sabah, kota kinabalu. the value of charge is worth as service and room is good. we can say is 3 stars charge but 5 stars hotel service and room design is modern and comfortable. also many restaurants around this hotel and the sunday market just infrant the street. only the problem is house keeping. the day we stay in excutive suite for business but early morning we go out and switch on the housekeeping light. till 2.25pm we back to hotel with many of my business friend for meeting in room but the room not serve yet. call to reception they mention today is fully booked will call to house keeping to solve the problem. when i go out the house keeping just near the lift to serve room, i asked them why early till now didn't serve my room? they reply as fully booked and aslo not friendly. i am angry to told them that we stay in excutive deluxe room, it is unfair for me and also i am no face as all my business friend go in to my room but room still not clean. actually this is the best hotel hope the manager can concern about this as fully booked is not a good reason to explain to the guset of this hotel.

Hotel right infront of Sabah Tourism building. Great for travellers looking for local informations. Our hotel room were very spacious. Would love a bathtub in the shower room tho. But it did worked out for me and my partner as we were out most of the time and only came back to the hotel for sleeping basically. The view from our room are not something to brag about. But doesn't bother us. The staffs were very helpful and friendly! My partner and I had a big night out! Addy and Jorin (if I spelled it right)helped us to get into our room safely!! Pretty much embarrassing actually. But they re making sure the hotel guest are being assisted! Well done! The hotel are close to shops, restaurants, banks and shopping malls. All are only short walking distance from the hotel! Couldn't ask for a better location than that! Will definitely stay at Sixty3 when we return!
