beautiful new boutique hotel with great rooms”
we stayed at the hotel solo 2 on our last night in bangkok, so we really spent less than 8 hours at the hotel total, so this is by no means a comprehensive review. we arrived rather harried because we had just been ripped off by an airport taxi driver, and also because we had to get a taxi to the airport at 4:30am. the staff was nice and patient with us, even though i was a bit flustered. we received welcome drinks upon arrival and were upgraded to a superior deluxe room, which was fabulous! this was my favorite hotel we stayed in during our 10 day holiday in thailand. i'm often in bangkok for work, and this has been my favorite hotel so far. the rooms are very modern without feeling space-agey. everything seems clean and sparkling new. the bathrooms in the superior are quite nice, with the shower and bathroom in their own little "rooms" to either side of the sink. which is nice if someone needs to brush their teeth while someone is taking a shower. they rooms come with pod coffee makers and plug-ins for hdmi and usb cables to the big lcd screen. there is a wifi router for each floor and it worked really well. we didn't stay long enough to enjoy breakfast, but it was sweet of them to offer us a free breakfast when i had booked only a basic room. the manager was very nice and accommodating, and spoke really good english, but not all of the other front desk staff had similarly good english. but that was a relatively minor note to an otherwise brilliant, albeit short, stay at the hotel solo 2 sukhumvit. i'm only sorry that we didn't have more time to stay and enjoy all the hotel's amenities. fyi - don't order drinks at the rooftop bar. or at least if you do, don't order caipirinhas. probably serves me right for ordering a caipirinha in thailand, but it was the worst either of us had ever had in my life. it didn't *taste* anything like a caipirinha and the bartender knew very little english, which made the whole exchange quite painful. pricey, too, at 180
The Land of Smiles”
This is the first time I'm visiting Bangkok & true to many other friends review on Bangkok, it is indeed the Land of Smiles. Everyone is so helpful & friendly. My boyfriend and I enjoyed coming back to the hotel everyday as the front desk officer(s) will always carry a smile with them which gives you a cosy & fuzzy feeling - I'm back home! The hotel room is clean and spacious. Super comfy beds. The only downside was that I felt that the hotel room was a little too dim to my liking. Since the hotel is located away from the main road, there is a shuttle service that ferries you back & forth to the main road. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Solo Sukhumvit 2. And for the price we paid, it was indeed worth the stay.
Great hotel - Nicest place we stayed on our trip!”
This was by far the nicest hotel we stayed at during our trip to Thailand and Cambodia. I'm assuming this place is very new as there are no signs of abuse or wear. Solo was exactly as shown in the pictures on the website and our Deluxe Room was fantastic. Very ultra modern and chic. We were very impressed by the king size bed and amazing shower. The rooftop pool is also very nice. The staff at the hotel was fantastic and allowed us to keep luggage at the hotel during our 4-day side trip to Siem Reap. The location is fantastic as you are right in the heart of Sukhumvit with easy access to the skytrain. The only thing I can mention was Solo is about a good 10 minute walk from Sukhumvit road but this is a plus as its location on Soi 2 is very quite and peaceful. Would definitely pick this hotel as our base in Bangkok again. You definitely can't beat the value vs. price.
I found this hotel through Agoda's website. The discription appealed to me, and never having been to Bangkok, this small hotel was a very pleasant surprise. Very friendly staff greeted me with a fresh glass of fruit juice on arrival. They were also very helpful in answering my questions about the area and how to get get around Bangkok. This hotel is only a few months new. My room was the cleanest I have seen anywhere and had all the modern conveniences, including internet access, flatscreen TV and a wonderful shower stall and dressing area, including a user-friendly Safe for storing your valuables. In most hotels, Mini Bars are a rip-off, but Hotel Solo's mini bar was well stocked and very reasonbly priced. This hotel is a reasonably short walk from the overhead Sky train station (Sukhumvit Line), which connects with the MRT Subway. Nightlife, restaurants and shops are only a 10 minute walk away. I will definitely try staying at Hotel Solo again on my future visits to Bangkok.
great little hotel”
really enjoyed my stay at solo. it is on soi 2 sukhumvit, only one block from nana, but a world of difference. a very quiet soi- no bars, no massage parlors, no ladies wandering about. it is mostly a residential area with a few hotels scattered about. a bit of a walk to sukhumvit, but their tuk-tuk will take you there. room was clean and comfortable, nice breakfast, and the pool area looked nice. so if you are looking for a nice hotel at a reasonable rate in sukhumvit (without all the sleeze) this is a good bet.
Fresh and friendly”
we stayed 3 great nights. short walk to ploenchit bts. the staff were so friendly, the food was nice and the lobby area so bright and cool for meals and the roof top funky for dinner/drinks at night. loved the pool. room and bathroom spacious and spotless. there is even a cappucino machine in each room. eff the tuk tuk man will give you a ride down to the end of the soi if you can't be botherd walking the short distance. we highly recommend solo sukhumvit 2.
Stay in the Sukhumvit area 2x per year, Bangkok stop-over to and fro journeys Australia-Germany (work). Over the years, have stayed in several hotels around the area, and Solo is my favourite. Best mix of size (small enough to offer personalised service), value for money- not the cheapest, but you get all the features of more expensive places, and right distance from everything- you don't step out the door into the midst of hussle and bussle, but it's not far away if you want it. Great friendly (happy?) staff, good breakfast, quiet and groovy modern atmosphere. Love it here.
Outstanding Service beyond expectations ”
Solo 2 Hotel is an excellent choice for the money. Highly recommended, 10 start experience in all categories, professional staff, clean and quiet , spacious rooms with high ceiling, great value for the price. It was a last minute booking and upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by ACTING SUB LT. PUTTACHAT PAYAKWAN. She was very professional, kind, attentive, well spoken in English, to my circumstances. During my tenure there, She spent a few hours helping me sort out my situation by translating, arranging or providing the services or information needed, while still helping other patrons. The entire staff went out of there way to make me feel at home. Provide advice or giving me rides to major streets. Room service was quick to make up room. The food provided my the restaurant there was very tasty and reasonably priced. Thank your Solo 2 for the great experience in Bangkok. .
nice boutique hotel,spacious rooms,good location”
i stayed the first time in solo hotel but will sure come back.its a new boutique hotel, with nice rooms with lcd tv and everything you need, the location is on sukhumvit soi 2 and there is a free shuttle service to sukhumvit road on request wit an electric car.parking for your acar available and within a few minutes your on the highway
Lovely hotel and excellent service”
we have an enjoyable and memorable stay in hotel solo sukhumvit. the room is in excellent condition with very comfy bed. the hotel provide ironing board, coffee maker and complimentary water bottles everyday. though this hotel is a bit far from the main road, the hotel provide free tuk tuk to the main road. it is very near to many halal food restaurants. 7 eleven and family mart also very near. internet wi-fi is also free but sometimes got disconnected.
Good value for money in central Bangkok”
Modern decor in a relatively small hotel (for Bangkok!) and very friendly staff were helpful and there was no problem in us leaving some luggage with Reception for the week we travelled. The room was spacious and very clean with a good shower and comfortable bed, something we found wasn't easily achieved at other hotels in Thailand. Breakfast is very basic and not worth setting an alarm for, there are plenty of pubs on Soi 4 that do a full English if you are so inclined. Hotel Solo is a handy find for a reasonably priced hotel in central Bangkok, around a 12 minute walk to / from Ploen Chit BTS station; a walk that is reduced to 5 minutes if you utilise the tuktuk service provided by the hotel to Ploen Chit Centre, however we didn't ever see the tuktuk to get back down Soi 2. The walk down the So in darkness was questionable for me, purely due to the rather large night rats around the street food truck, obviously nothing to do with the hotel.
You can find better for less in the area ”
I always stay at another hotel further down sukhumvit but because my work was paying, thought I'd try something new. Its not a bad hotel by any means, but not as good as other hotels I've stayed in for the same price. Had I actually paid the full price and not the internet deal I would say it wasn't worth it. It's a pretty hotel with a great pool and breakfast buffet was good. However the room I stayed in, you could hear everything coming from the neighboring bathroom (including some uncomfortable noise from the man next door!) and it's quite cramp- especially in the design of the bathroom. The pay per sachet of coffee seems a bit excessive and think the room could have done with extra lighting. I found staff courtesy to be really inconsistent. One staff I talked to was extremely helpful and warm and other seemed uninterested in answering my question. Furthermore, I was a bit annoyed to watch a female traveler struggle in the lobby to put on a 40lb backpack while 5 employees hung around the corner chatting (no one offered to help). At other hotels at a similar cost and rating, you usually have to fight staff to handle bags, especially as a solo traveler. In addition, the hotel is set rather far away from the main road, which I didn't think was very great. This would be a great hotel for a three star or for considerably less the price, but for what it sells itself as, I was unimpressed and will go back to my standard four-star hotel down the street.
Nice, new and well managed”
Solo is a well thought out hotel and had everything you need in the room. Most rooms are on the small side but good enough for a stay in Bangkok. The hotel tuk-tuk will take you to the main area of the street as Solo is far enough away to be very quiet. The roof pool and bar are superb but could be cramped if hotel is full. Food is reasonably priced and nice and the staff are as friendly and helpful as any in Bankok. Internet is free and wireless is room.
Our stay at the Solo hotel was very agreeable. It is situated in a very quiet area and still close to the centre of town. I myself liked the room very much and especially the shower was splendid. A very convenient aspect of this hotel is that it is situated close to a toll road exit. Not being used to Bangkok traffic I avoid driving in Bangkok as much as possible and the place of this hotel helps me. I would surely recommend the hotel to any of my friends. Close by are shopping malls and for solo travellers there is a lot of entertainment.
Second Stay always great Hotel”
stayed again at the solo hotel arrived late from a really bad flight they upgraded me to larger room which was really great too. the room was fantastic my first sty at this hotel was good the second stay was even better thanks again to the staff at solo hotel sukhumvit soi 2
Beautiful hotel great staff Excellent location ”
In have stayed in the Hotel Solo on 2 seperate occasions and will most definately stay again. The staff are respectful and curtious. The prices are second to none great value. The location is 300m fron the Nana Plaza area 500m from the transport system and they have a curtesy cart if you feel lazy. The local train network will take you to the Soi Cowboy area within 2 minutes or a 30 minute walk. It also takes you directly to major shopping centres 10 minutes away on the train. Better than taxis as they will see the forigner and take you miles off thee path (happened to me, had to travel 2km and I knew the way and turned out traveling 30km, lol didnt pay). The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff are honest well mannered curtious and respectful of your privacy. I would give them 100% and am happy to leave a substantial tip.
Best Hotel in Bangkok”
Love the hotel was bummed the pool was under renovations wish Agoda had posted that so I could have made other plans Great location super quite Soi 2 strange thing the hotel doesn't supply soap so bring your own, amazing staff, every one is so nice, and helpful I travel to Bangkok 2-3 x a year this hotel is my new home when I am there, great tuk tuk service just after they drop u on the corner you have a bit to walk too the BTS, and they will pick you up as well love that extra sevice Clean, and so quite what a great Hotel thanks Solo loved staying with you all
Solo Sukhumvit 2”
Solo Sukhumvit 2 is a lovely, well kept hotel. the staff is courteous, and helpful. The pool is on the rooftop, and with great drink deals and a nice view of the city. The rooms are very well kept and one gets a feeling of luxury while staying there, thanks to the espresso machine, the electric kettle, and tea and coffee bags, glass window bathroom and digital weighing machine!
value for money and in sukhumvit”
we stayed in the hotel for 4 nights during a weekend. the hotel is located almost at the end of the sukhumvit soi 2, a small road with no exit, it might seem a little far at night to walk from the main road back to the hotel, but it is also good because there is no noise from the main street or the neighbours. very quiet location but very close to the nightlife in sukhumvit. The staff is very helpful, when you go out from the hotel during the day they offer you to bring you to the main road with the electric caddy to save you 5 minutes walk. and also the checkin/checkout process goes very smooth. the rooms are really big and clean, the water works good and the toilet is also very functional.
Very pleasant stay”
We stayed in room no 501 and 505. The rooms were very well maintained and clean. My friends were always telling me about worn out old hotels in Bangkok, however, I found Hotel Solo to be quite new and well maintained. The staffs were very helpful. We got discount coupons to the Ocean World. The free shuttle service saved us the walk to the end of the road. The break-fast spread was quite good. Although we were out most of the time, we enjoyed our stay at Hotel Solo. Highly recommended if you want a nearby accommodation to the Bamrungrad Hospital, Central World and Siam Paragon. I wish to come back again :)
