We stayed in the Japanese Tatami Room - they provide free towel and free room cleaning daily - free coffee/ tea making machine at each of the floor... Staff only able to speak very very basic (a little bit of English) The hotel is located perfectly right beside the JR Beppu and the bus station. It took us like a min walk to the hotel. Convenient for those who plan to go for Hell of Onsen Tour. Inside the JR station there's a small local grocery shop, we bought some fruits , snacks and drinks there. There's coin laundry as well and located just beside the hotel. The downside is the hotel doesn't have Onsen... but we can go to their sister hotel- Sea Wave Hotel which is just opposite the JR station (about 3 mins walk from Hotel Star) for free onsen. They have 2 Onsen - indoor and outdoor onsen The hotel corridor is quite smelly... bad odor but the room is ok The washroom is quite small tho...

On the outside it seemed like you're average dirty cheap business hotel, but actually the rooms was really nice. It was really spacious by Japanese standards and the bathroom was redone recently. You can use the onsens at two other hotels around the station for no extra cost which was nice. The laundry room closes at 8pm which is a little inconvenient. That was the only downside I found. The staff were very helpful and nice, but their English is very limited. Overall good stay

Front staff can't speak English which might be a bit difficult for foreigners when there is something needed to ask or confirm. The location is more than comfortable for commuting since there are several options available nearby.

Everything was so good. Price is reasonable and service was so good. Hotel very near from Beppu station. You can use onsen at sister hotel for free. After check out, their have luggage storage service for free. Very recommend this place!!

Some rooms may inevitably have minor noise from the nearby rail track, but if you are not early sleeper nor intending to wake up late, then the rail track annoyances ain't likely to affect you. Even though the hotel itself does not have its own onsen, guests can make use of onsen from three of their sister hotels all scatter near the other side of Beppu station, or otherwise, the hotel room does have its own bath tub anyway, with full bath amenities. However, it's worth nothing that my tiny single room may not be suitable for patrons with a larger build, as the bidet toilet is rather cramp. The hotel also have free tea dispenser and microwave on every level. Coin laundry is located on the ground floor of an adjacent building, but it only operates 8am-10pm. Lobby is at Level 2, and there is 1 lift serving the entire building.

Pros: 1. Affordable 2. Room is clean and more pleasant than expected 3. Kind, helpful staff 4. Great location, right next to Beppu station Cons: 1. The pillows are bad. Very hard, old and flat 2. Only basic amenities provided. Eg. no iron Note: We had the room on the side furthest from the train station. We could hear just faint sounds of train, which didn't bother us. I imagine if you're closer you can probably hear more.

Right next to the JR station with lovely shops and bus stops. Five minutes to nearby restaurants and ten minutes to a department store. Basic facilities. Drinks were provided by the machine in the corridor. Love the peace and quiet of Beppu.

Worth the money ”
Good location which is just one minute walk to beppu station. Room is spacious for 2. One complaint is there is smoking smell in the toilet some time of the day even though it is a non smoking room.

Super good and value hotel ”
The hotel located with just 2 mins walking after you arrived Beppu Station. It is super value hotel if comparing to the nearby one. The staff don’t speak English but are very friendly and used translator to tell you the information you need. You can goes to their sister hotel and enjoy the Onsen available for free and buffet breakfast also are good with 700 yen. Highly recommended to stay at Beppu Star if you plan to visit many must visit places at Beppu.

The location of this hotel is excellent, just next to Beppu JR station. The room is big if compared to the hotels in Hakata. Hotel with free onsen at their sister hotel which just few minutes of walking. The staff is very helpful and nice.
