I request a room with two twin beds and the other room 1 Bed. In the moment I did the reservation. We did not got the room with relain beds because they said they did not had, next day the lady at the front said she did an upgrade that was not true, when I said I was going to made the complaint she said she made a mistake, we did not Get an upgrade.
Dirty. Small. Cheap”
The bed linens were dirty, bed mites bit me all night. The room was really small. Water pressure in shower was really low. Not well ventilated. Room service didn’t replace new body wash and shampoo. Called room service they put me on hold and never picked it back up. No way for a second stay even if they pay me to.
Not the best location”
Overall the hotel was okay, just very cramped and pretty stale smelling. The staff were pleasant and although there were a couple of issues with our room, these were resolved quickly. The main detractor was the location, it didn’t feel particularly safe though I suppose this is hardly the hotel’s fault.
Can’t beat this location”
Old hotel with old furnishings but excellent service from staff
Hotel Stratford, not again unless...”
Stayed at Stratford in 2007 and I was impressed. so I returned after 11 years. But so much have changed (perhaps including management/owners) except the location which is the remaining saving grace of Stratford. Carpets have seen better days. Our room has no ref & aircon. Room was very warm; made up every morning though. Felt itchy with bed and linens that I suspect were infected with bed mites. The in-hotel breakfast is gone though there are many restos near the hotel. Elevator is very slow and entry/exit is disorienting. Hallway is smelly. Needs a good cleaning. Front desk is manned by staff of different moods. Some are courteous and the rest are not. Will return only if...
The location of the hotel was the biggest plus, although the vicinity is home to a few homeless people. At any rate, i enjoyed my stay at the hotel.
Staffs are nice but there's only one staff in the lobby all the time.”
The light in the bathroom doesn't work and the fan cannot be off. At first the staff said she could only have maintenance guy next morning but we only stayed for one night but finally she agreed to switch us to another room. After we checkout for couple hours we realized we left a stuffed toy in the room and when we came back they helped us find the toy.

Value for money”
+ location, price, staff - smelly room, kind of wet carpet featuring mold smell, other room window is 2m away
The hotel does not have air conditioning. We had to open the window. Given the prime location of the hotel, it was very noisy and we felt like sleeping in the street.
Excellent location, decent room”
Not luxurious and not much facilities to speak of but it is a decent hotel room at an excellent location. No air conditioning, only ceiling fan, but it didn't matter to my husband and I because we stayed during winter and temperature was cold enough in the room with windows opened up and fan switched on. Staff are helpful and friendly. Breakfast is basic but sufficient to start the day.
Great location and great staff
Good location and nice staff!!!”
Great staff, clean and location
The only good thing with this hotel is the location. Staff is also nice and friendly. We knew the rooms were small, but this was ridiculously small. No space to even put one suitcase. Bed was awful and was leaning down on both sides. The worst was the heat. The room was boiling hot, and the window could only open a tiny bit and there was no air condition. Awful!
Best hotel in San Francisco”
The hotel has an excellent location, right down town. The staff were incredible nice and very helpful. My room was clean and confortable, one of the perks is the breakfast buffet, just right to start the day in the city. Thanks a lot!!!!
Great location and super friendly staff!
Great hotel, great location”
Great location right in heart of San Francisco. Staff friendly but had a few issues with incompetency of front desk staff - incorrect booking of tour, not passing on delivery....
Expensive sh!t hole.”
For $149 a night I wasn't expecting a room with no natural light. Half bathroom in the room. Tiny space. Awful smells. The guy at the front desk was pushy trying to sell the airport shuttle service and got very rude when we said we preferred Uber instead. We won't repeat same mistake. For sure.
Location is A+”
Can't say anything bad about the location. Right in the middle of Union Square, a busy shopping district with plenty to do, shop and eat. Super close to all transportation as well. Staff is absolutely lovely and helpful. I'd warn against staying here in summer though as the rooms have no aircon and the rooms get VERY HOT (even in winter). Rooms are quite small (but i guess thats every hotel in that district), but clean and usable. Breakfast is just basic bread and muffins. I'd come back again in winter as it is good value for money and conveniently located but probably not summer
