Great Location ”
Booked the rooms for my parents-in-law and they are very happy with the location of this hotel. Two minutes walked to Qing Guang Market and around five to eight minutes walked to the mrt station. Very convenient and easy to move around the area.
Reasonable hotel in the city. Recommended!”
Our stay in this hotel is great although the room and toilet are a bit small but it is acceptable to us. You have two train stations nearby and a lot of nice restaurants around. So, there will be no problem on food. Internet access is fast and I can do my office work without complaint on slow links. The hotel also arranged transportation for us to the airport with reasonable fee. Cheaper than getting a normal city taxi. Highly recommended for those who are going for leisure and business. Another great experience we encountered in the hotel was two occasions of 6.1 earthquake in one of the morning.
Convenient location, tidy room”
location is convenient - close to two metro stations on red and orange lines. airport bus station is just in front of the hotel. room is japanese style - tidy and bright, though a bit small. staff are kind and helpful. the hotel offer good value for money. will stay there again when i travel to taipei next time.
Nice clean hotel at a convenient location.”
This hotel belongs to a Japanese chain, so it caters to Japanese clientele which is good because service is of high standard. The room is clean and the location is great - within 5-10 mins from MRT stations and just around the corner is a nice food street where you can buy local food from stalls.
Clean but small room”
Check in is very fast because they have already prepared everything. The room is clean but it's small. The window is big and they have better quality sandals than the other hotels that I have stayed in. There are 2 computers with internet connection at the lobby which you can use for free but the connection is not so good. When the Cafeteria where the computers located is closed, the light is turn off without notification to the computers' users which I think is rude.
Clean room and good location but small room”
My wife and I have stayed here for two night. Although the room is a bit smaller than the usual but equip with all the necessity. We like it very much because the room is very clean and it is about 5 mins walk from the Zhong Shan Elementary School subway station. Furthermore, the Guo Guang airport shuttle bus just stop right in-front of the hotel. :)
Nice hotel with good facilities”
the room is excellent, i will not say that it is a big room but it is a decent room. have ironing board (you need to request from the reception counter) and connection to internet free of charge (connect via cable network). overall good stay
Decent hotel - small room but comfortable bed”
the room was comfortable. it was a pleasant stay. they still use old technology for access key - using the traditional key instead of card reader. more japanese oriented hotel. the breakfast was decent - everyday is the same though.
It was a pleasure to spend two days at Sunroute. The staff are helpful and always smiling. They fielded all my questions about Taipei or the neighbourhood politely and very well. Room big enough, bed good and location super handy for the Red MRT line.
Very nice hotel”
Hotel well located in a rather clam area, close to MRT station, but may be a bit far from shops. Very clean, modern, and staff is nice. Highly recommended
Good location excellent staff”
Located between two mrt stations so easy to get around Taipei. Bus 1841 from airport stops at intersection in front of hotel for 83nt dollar. Trip takes 1 hr with many stops along the way. Small night market just behind the hotel. Rooms are typical Japanese hotel rooms...small, very clean and wiell maintained. I will stay here again on my next trip.
Overall was good”
We like the washroom as it is like Japanese style. The toilet seater is equipped with heater where it is warm in the winter day! The bathroom utilities were being changed and added everyday regardless you use it or not. The location wise is near to MRT station. Just about 5-mins walk from either Zhong Shan Elementary School station or Minquan W. Rd. Station. But it's kinda hard to located local breakfast shops to enjoy local taste in the morning.
back after 15 years.”
My first stay there was 15 years ago, only old building complex around; therefore, walking at night time was so boring to me. But this time, felt the whole area is like Singapore. Whichever direction you go from the hotel, there is something for morning, day, or night.
Small and tidy business Hotel”
It is a typical Japanese business hotel, the room is small but the interior furnishing is clean. Further, the staff is helpful and the room cleaning lady is very efficient as well. The niche of this hotel is the price. For the business travelers, I would highly recommend this hotel within this price range.
A functional hotel in a good location”
It's a Japanese hotel chain so expect good service and attention to details and cleanliness. The other good thing about this hotel is it's location. It's located between 2 MRT stations which makes it convenient to travel to the RED line (Main Station, Shilin and Tamsui) and the YELLOW Line. There's Starbucks in the building next door and there's eating places and convenience stores nearby: McDonalds, MOS Burger, Gloria Jeans and a host of other restaurants and cafes if you are not into street food and night market stuff. However, if street food is your thing, there's one somewhere behind the hotel which opens around 5pm until midnight offering local fares such as Oyster Misuah, Stinky Tofu, Ramen, Sausage, BBQ's, desserts and fresh fruits. It's mostly the locals who eat here (compared to Shilin which is kinda touristy).
The second impression was better than the first ”
This was our second time staying at Sunroute. The location to town definitely wasn't the best. And it is a perhaps 10 min walk away actually to the train station. But yet we like the location because it has a food street close by which operates till 2am. And there was a very yummy seafood stall that sells really yummy and fresh seafood dishes , soup , porridge , noodles etc. You could also find almost anything within the proximity. On this 2nd visit , the cab driver broke one of our lugguage handle but the hotel counter staff were very helpful with our request and needs. Directions were clear with a map marked out telling us where we could find the hardwares that we requested, very willing and polite when I asked for some information of the broken lugguage which the staff help me googled for it and also lend us some tools that we would need to fix our lugguage. That's nice of them . And we would go back again.
You can only stay in this hotel in winter only ”
I can only rate it as an okay hotel. DO NOT stay in this hotel in summer. It was cool in Dec but you just need to turn on the air conditioner when you are staying in the room. However, the air conditioner control was useless. If you are lucky enough and has been given a room with room number like 701-706, you should feel the cool air but I was given the room 712 (towards the end of corridor) and was boiling!! I booked 3 rooms for 6 adults and we needed to allocate to the rooms on different floors and 2 rooms were at the end of corridor. The front desk manager explained the the ventilation system was old and offered to open the window for me as a solution. The rooms are tiny but consider the price, it is still value of money. BUT won't stay there next time and would prefer to pay for a bit more for another hotel.
Clean room and great location”
Very pleasant staff. It is nothing fancy, but very clean and relaxing room, staff were friendly and helpful, and the location great. Starbuck's right next door and a small night market just around the corner!
Simple and no-frills hotel”
This is a typical Japanese managed hotel - clean and friendly. The hotel can be reached from the different subway lines and there is a bus stop right n front to catch a local bus to the airport. The location is quite convenient but the surrounding is not exciting albeit he usual convenience stores and a few restaurants.
OK as base for sightseeing, shopping, & restaurant”
To set expectations, SunRoute is the Japanese equivalent to Fairfax or Hampton Inns, only with smaller rooms. We had one of their larger rooms, which I estimate to be about 2/3 the size of a regular American express hotel. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel. We were within 4 block walk to an inexpensive Chinese breakfast restaurant and 2 blocks from food stands. The only real issue I had with my room, was with the bed. It was like sleeping on a board, which it probably was. For an American perspective, think camping, sleeping in a sleeping bag on a hard ground. I could do that when I was a teenager, but not at 50+. The only good thing about the bed was, it was about queen sized. OK now for some kudos. The hotel staff was extremely helpful, friendly, & patient. Both the evening and day staff were willing to take however long was necessary to explain how to get to the underground metro, particular shopping locations, etc. Even the cleaning lady was friendly and helpful. Since we were there for a whole week, I needed to have some shirts cleaned. There is a laundry/dry cleaner a short 4 blocks walk. The hotel also provides cleaning services. The outside laundry service is much less expensive, but the turn around was 4 days. While the hotel service was more expensive, they guaranteed same day service, deliver to the front desk by 10:00 am and pick,up clean clothes after 7:00 pm, also at the front desk. I used both services. The convenience of the hotel's same day service was worth the extra cost, especially the day before I was to checkout. For the price, this is a good hotel in which to stay. I would suggest making reservations through Priceline or its partner, Agoda. I'd also suggest that you pay for the larger double room, which, as I mentioned before, is very small.
