Couldn't be better - well managed & super value 4 money”

I've just come back from very enjoyable holiday in Osaka/Kyoto, part of which is attributable to this Hotel - 1) very quiet even w/lots of Mandarin-speaking Chinese visitors spotted - which I believe is due to the fact that these independently travelling Chinese (like those staying in Hotel Taiyo or other Dobutsuen-Mae/Nishinari budget hotels) are mostly repeaters & well-seasoned, who are quite different from fellow noisy & bad-mannered (reputedly) mainland Chinese group-holiday makers. 2) Clean room w/a firm bed, mini-fridge, warm/cool air-conditioner, flat TV - all well maintained, 6 shower rooms available 24/7 w/free shampoo/conditioner equipped, big/small towels & toothbrush, Japanese-style bathrobe - all more than expected from only THB 390.44 or USD 12.5 per night. 3) location, convenient to every major must-sees in Osaka/Kyoto, needless to say walking-distance Shin-Sekai and hustle-bustle Namba/Shin-Saibashi which offers all levels of shopping experience from Donqui to Chanel

Near Nankai/JR/Subway, Valuable”

Hi, Pat. from Thailand. My plan is about sightseeing, shopping and USJ!!. I stayed for 4 nights in Osaka. I chose this hotel because 1. Near railway and subway!! and 2. Exceptable price!! for 1 private room for 2 persons (I don't mind to use public toilet or public bathroom). It's such a great location just 2 minutes from Shin-imamiya JR station, 1 minute from Dobutsuen-mae subway station (which you can reach many popular places, next city or Kansai airport in 1 line.) The staff are good English speaker. They offered us to use Yukata and the towel and guided us to the restaurant at midnight which is 5 minutes walk from hotel. Public bath is good, separated time for men and women. There are 4 private bathrooms in 1st and 2nd floor with shampoo, showel gel and every floor has toilets. the elevator looked old but it's good. I strongly recommend to you guys who are planning like me and looking for the accommodation to stay in Osaka. :) **

Great service, clean, small rooms”

great location, friendly helpful staff

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at hotel Taiyo. Location was great.. it's right on a subway line and about a 5 min walk from the local train station. Dotomburi / Nara / Osaka city are only a few stations away which made it really easy to get around. We stayed in a japanese style room which was very basic and small but expected for the price. The futons and pillows weren't too comfortable but acceptable enough. I think when I stay there next time I will opt for a western style bed. Shower/toilet facilities are clean and an Onsen is available also(Spa world is across the road too). We ended up extending our stay for a few more days there as it was so central and for some reason just felt homely!! Across the road from the hostel is a large strip of restaurants known for it's 'Osaka-style' skewers and sushi.. great food! The men at reception are absolutely lovely (especially Steve who helped us above and beyond!!

Best hotel in the area”

staff were very kind and welcoming, price was amazing, location isnt bad

I've been to this area 2 times prior before and stayed at a different hotel. Hotel Taiyo is the best hotel I've been to in the area. The staff are very welcoming and will help you if needed. On my first day from arriving a staff member cleaning the grounds helped me out, he dis speak English. It was this that made a lasting impression on me for the people and the hotel it self. It gave a good impression that I and any other people going to this Hostel are welcome. I highly recommend this hostel if you are able to get a room. Great location, which isnt too far from Namba and a trainstation and at an excellent price.

Best Experience in a Japanese hotel”

Location, staff, room

Hotel Taiyo is located within walking distance from various railway and subway stations which makes it accessible to most of tourist attraction points in Osaka. It is also really easy tp get from and to Kansai airport. Staff is super friendly and speaks English well. Around are a lot of local restaurants, which serve delicious food. The room is in traditional type with provided Yukata. You also will have a TV in your room to entertain when it's raining outside. Perfect experience for backpackers, especially when the price is affordable.

Nice cosy hotel with great service”

Great service, comfortable room

hotel taiyo is located in the tennoji vicinity of osaka, and strategically located right beside the subway station as well as convenience stores. the staff spoke excellent english and gave a brief tour of the hotel facilities, and i felt this service was excellent. with an extremely cheap price, the size of the hotel room was considered big enough for anyone who is staying alone. a wardrobe, tv and single bed is provided and there is enough walking space. the hotel was also very clean in general. however, a con is the unusual public bathing time for men, which ends at 9pm, while women's start from 9pm-12am. during that period, i wasn't able to use the public bath (as a male) and had to use the individual bath. the problem is, there were only 2 individual bathroom stores for the entire hotel and this caused quite a queue even late at night (for men). perhaps the hotel could look into this. other than that, a great hotel overall, which is on par with mikado and toyo which is also located beside the hotel.

good location, not suitable for claustrophobic”

right outside exit 2 of dobutsumae station on the midosuji line

This is not my typical concept of a 'Hotel' that I know of.. Since as you all might know the bathrooms are located on the groundfloor of the hotel.. There's a common toilet in each floor, you'll just need to get out of the room when natural calls.. There's a public bath too, you have to try it to experience this part of Japan.. It's quite an experience. It's situated exactly outside Dobutsumae station exit 2 of Midosuji (Pink) Line. Staff speaks English and are well-prepared with all the tourist attraction you can go to, it's all printed out for you, even with a map of the hotel surroundings.. There's 2 family mart/convenient store near the hotel, and something like a foodstreet across the road through the tunnel.. It sells about almost the same thing (yakitori/skewers), which is kinda common for Japan I think.. You can get to the hotel from Osaka Intertional Aiport/Itami (idk why but it only serves domestic flight) via Shuttle bus to Namba station (right outside the airport).. Go across the street, you can take the midosuji line to Dobutsumae. Down point for the hotel is that if you're claustrophobic, it's not advisable for you to be staying here, as the room is very cramp.. It can only fit a bed, a small table just right to put a TV on it and some space for your luggage. There's a mini refrigerator at the side too.

Good value in Osaka”

Cheap, clean, good location

Hotel Taiyo is a great option in Osaka. It's suited to the budget traveller in that it is located close to good cheap eateries plus you can self-cater to a degree (there is a mini fridge in the room and microwaves / hot water urns in the ground-floor lobby). Rooms are standard Japanese tatami, but surprisingly roomy and not claustrophobic. Excellent strength wifi (free), shared bathrooms, and onsen. Highly recommended.

Great for me”

Convenient location to Shin Imamiya station, about a 5min walk. Staff are very helpful, friendly and knew English. They have all the kitchen facilities you need. I used the hot & cold water the most. You need to ask how to use the hot water, its not a standard kettle and doesnt have English written on it. I was happy that cups, plates and silverware were provided. Especially the mini fridge in each room was a big up side for me, only if I knew about it I would have booked here earlier instead of my previous place. There's also a scale on the ground floor level if you need to weigh your bags. Wifi speed was ok, but it kept cutting off when I was in my room. My room was on level 4. Room was comfortable, but felt a bit stuffy so had to sleep with the window wide open, although you need to close it when you leave. Fresh bath towel, hand towel and oshibori were provided. The toilet facilities were not to my liking on level 4, old style and run down, only used when others were used. I always went to level 2 using the stairs, it was much more upgraded. 2 showers on level 2 were its own room with a step up to the shower area and a small round unsteady table to place your stuff on. There are 2 other showers on ground level as well, all clean. Common area on ground level was comfortable, gets a bit busy after about 9-10pm when other travellers come back from sightseeing and are hungry. There's only 1 lift, I dont like waiting too much so I used the stairs 90% of the time which felt like a very short distance. Overall great. I would come back and stay for a budget place. Thank you Hotel Taiyo

Quick and Convenient ”

Location, Price, Great Staff

Stayed here briefly so my opinion is very limited of what the place has to offer. That being said, the rooms were very clean the price was good for the location. Showers and bathrooms are well kept and the internet connection is solid. The staff at Hotel Taiyo is very helpful and friendly, especially Taka. He was very helpful in answering questions we had regarding shopping and things to do. I would recommend staying here longer than what we stayed, it seemed like the hotel had a few perks to offer like a Sauna and Spa Room. Location is great as well, very close to the Dobutsuenmae Train Station and restaurants.

Worth the money”

Hotel Taiyo has a great location. It's just a couple of minutes walk to the subway and a few minutes going to the JR Shin-Imamiya Station. There are food places and convenience stores near the place. The hotel staff are very kind and accommodating. The check-in and check out were very easy. The hotel place is old so do not expect something fancy. Maybe if they could add another elevator that would be better and shower rooms. Although they have a public bathroom,it will be better if they have nore shower rooms. As far as I know they only have 5 for the whole hotel. They are on the 1st to 3rd floor. They also have coin laundry and hair dryers on the 1st floor and a public space too. The twin room that we got has enough space for 2. Overall, I would recommend this to those who are on a budget.

Good budget option in Osaka”

Cheap, clean, comfortable, great wifi signal

We were pleasantly surprised by Hotel Taiyo, which turned out to be a perfect introduction to Japanese accommodations. The rooms are small, but are clean and sparsely decorated, so you don't feel claustrophobic. You sleep on the tatami-matted floor on a thin futon-like mattress with a small pillow, but it is surprisingly comfortable. The room had a television, as well as a small refrigerator that was handy for keeping drinks and snacks cool. There is a large shared (communal) bathing area on the ground floor (where men bathe from 6-8.50 pm, and women from 9 pm to 12 am) plus there are two private showers that are open 24-hours for those of us who are a bit shyer!

I was satisfied with my stay at Taiyo.”

location, wifi, price

I always book at Hotel Taiyo for around 7 to 8 years now whenever we go to Osaka because we already feel at home here. The frontdesk staff are friendly and can communicate in English, there's good wifi even inside your room and 2 desktop computers at the lobby (you can use for free). There's coin-laundry facilities inside the hotel and nearby too such that packing light is possible. The Hotel is situated near train stations that it is very convenient to move around. I love Kansai for its food, shopping Centers and historical places. I will always come back to Hotel Taiyo as long as it is there.

CONVENIENT LOCATION”

Convenient location to railway stations and Spa World, friendly fluent-English speaking front desk staff, reasonable room price

Happy with accommodation for the price paid. SMALL room (about 5ft x 10ft) but good enough for me since I only used it to sleep at night. Western-style toilets and separate shower rooms were available. VERY FRIENDLY front-desk staff who speak fluent English. Rooms have their own key so I do feel somewhat safer with my belongings locked up instead of being stored in a "cabin" unlocked at guesthouses/capsule hotels. SUPERB location to railway stations: Midosuji line (direct stops at Korean town, Namba area, and connection to KIX/Kansai Airport) is 30 meters right IN FRONT of the hotel, and JR loop-line station is less than 150 meters away). Two Family Mart convenience stores open 24hr within 50 meters of hotel; great for buying snacks and/or other personal items. There is a small noodle shop less than 50 meters away (face the street - turn right - walk 50 meters - across from a Family Mart and bicycles parking area - don't cross the street) - GREAT place for a DELICIOUS morning bowl of ramen/udon noodles. Spa World is just across the street - cross street at the traffic light and walk up a flight of stairs on the left (sign says "Police station"). 1,000y fee for a whole day (if you use only the spa/baths and not the extras such as water slides/games...). This is not a hotel for MY family but I would definitely stay here again when traveling alone because it has everything that I need, allowing me to save some money to spend on other things/souvenirs/Spa World...
