Excellent location, clean and comfortable rooms, helpful staff”
Right in the centre of the city, located so close to Central station. Our room was quite small but very comfortable and very clean. Towels were changed daily. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would 100% stay here again if visiting Amsterdam. Small cafe located downstairs that serve delicious paninis, pastries and coffee
Location is good but room is tiny ”
We stayed in a double room, but there is no aircon, only fan. Lucky for us that it’s winter, so it’s still cooling in the room. Location is superb, on the busy stretch and near main station. Opposite the most renown mall in Amsterdam and one block away from red lightning district. My only complain is room being way too small. Some rooms require you to climb half a flight stairs, not suitable for people with huge luggage.
Best located Hotel!!”
Central location to station and heartbeat of Amsterdam. Rooms were clean and serviced everyday. Heated floor in bathroom was a bonus in winter-cold. Suggestion: more storage (shelves perhaps) and a kettle for early money coffee would add value). Complaints: Nothing, we had a great stay!!!
The location is amazing, you really can’t beat it. The hotel is super cute, wifi works well, and the staff are sweet and polite. Am coming back to Amsterdam in April and will stay here again, it’s clean and quiet and right in the heart of the action.
Great location with a homey feel”
The best part of this hotel is it's location. Very near all the starting point of our tours and the hop-on hop-off bus terminal. It's old but well-maintained. The wooden floor reminded us of the old houses back home. The interior has an eclectic, sensual (at least in our room) touch that constantly reminds you you're in Amsterdam. We didn't have air conditioner but wtih the cold weather in May who would need one. The bathroom has heated pipes that act as dryer, very useful in doing laundry for underwear and small garments. We got the economy room which is quite cramped but we don't stay indoor much. I didn't unpack much of my stuff so the room wouldn't be messed up. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We got to buy a prepaid taxi ticket going to the airport in the morning while we went out to do our last minute sightseeing. However the staff didn't endorse us to the afternoon shift receptionist who called the wrong taxi company. Lost money there. All in all it was a blast.
Good location, enjoyed my stay”
Good location - very near to train station, trams and above row of shops and eateries. But the hotel is hard to locate though with a small billboard, might miss it if you did not pay much attention. The rooms are clean and each comes with design of its own - boutique hotel. However, the room is small thus not suitable for big family... Overall, enjoyed the stay due to its location...
I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel! It was far better than 3 stars. Will definitely stay here again if I come back to Amsterdam. We walked everywhere because the location was so central. Highly recommend this place.
Outstanding Hotel, Staff, and Location!!!!”
I stayed at Hotel, The Exchange for 16 nights and loved every one of them!!! The rooms are so nice, the staff is so friendly, and they keep the rooms and hotel extremely clean. I can not say enough about how much I enjoyed my stay. The rooms and building are quaint and so unique. The restaurant downstairs, Stock, is outstanding! The best paninis I had in Amsterdam. Their location on Damrak is ideal for those on foot. I walked to every major attraction in Amsterdam within minutes! My mind is made up. I will stay at Hotel, The Exchange every time I am in Amsterdam forever!!!
Small but clean and quirky”
Lovely welcome, couldn’t check in till 3 pm though were happy to store our bags. Each room has own theme. Rooms were small but clean and modern. Plenary of places to eat drink and shop therefore not having a restraint didn’t matter.
Excellent location ”
Along the main busy street of Amsterdam city center. Hotel entrance is small so be careful not to miss it. Room is small but clean. I believe one will have problem to move around in the hotel and room with a big luggage.
Excellent hotel in a very central location ”
We arrived early and the receptionist was more than happy to look after our luggage as they were when we checked out and still had a few hours of exploring left. Room was ideal for our weekend stay. All clean and well presented. The hotel had a great quirky feel to it. Night time was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Overall would definitely visit again.
Tiny hotel but excellent location ”
Room is tiny but clean and comfortable bed. Excellent location alot of eateries nearby and walking distance to Amsterdam central.
Top Pigeon Removers”
Even when our room was invaded by a pigeon struck with diarrhoea, the staff made the room spotless & cleaned everything perfectly. Nice decor in the hallways too.
Great hotel, great location! ”
This hotel was tucked away via a small door entrance and sign but it was located in a great area of town. Buses, trams and trains were very close by. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. We did not want our room serviced every day, but were left clean towels every evening. It was a nice touch.
Very central location along the Damrak and walking distance from the central station. Right smack in the middle of the tourist centers so no need to rush for your tours. Very clean and nice themed rooms though relatively small. Highly recommended specially for quick stops in Amsterdam.
Located right in the centre of Amsterdam centre. ”
A hotel with a twist. We had the mattress room, very quirky and usual but spotlessly clean. Safety deposit box was included in the room. Great location, directly in the centre of Amsterdam Central. The train station can be seen from the hotel and all other areas can be easily walked to such as the red light district. Which is great as it saves on the cost if travel. There are lots of eateries right on the doorstep too. A great base to explore Amsterdam!
Lovely hotel! We had room 106 which is based on pleats of a white tee... so it was kind of like being in an optic white cocoon! Our stay was great, slept fine as we were very tired each night - couple of things worth noting though... - Couldn't open the curtains because we'd actually be about 8 foot away from the people on the main strip! (1st floor room). - This also meant it was quite loud... - Shower is quite weak.
Creative but Impractical Design of Rooms”
I love the modern and creative interior designs of the hotel. Each room of the hotel (including the cafe, the "dining area", the cosy couch area) has a different theme and reeks with individualistic style. However, creative design is always secondary to the practicability and usability of the room. The Economy Double room is way too tiny for for 2 persons. We have no place to put our luggages and there is hardly any walking space. The stool and side table which took up the scarce space seem unnecessary. There is no wardrobe and only a hanging rack. There are only few power points and I had to unplug the TV to use the power point. I was in room 220 with the turkish lamps and cloths are drapped on the entire wall, ceiling and window, making it dark and gloomy. And I have to be extra careful not to shower too long because the floor of the entire bathroom is level, which means that water can flow out of the bathroom into the room.
My room was postage stamp sized (with a huge balcony) but super comfy ; the staff is friendly and lovely and the decor in the common spaces is quirky and idiosyncratic with appealing nooks. Loved too that the cafe is attached - v convenient for breakfast. Close to the train station and pretty much everything is within 15 min walking .
Great location, pity about the price ”
In the heart of the city. Unusual decor rooms. We had a first floor front street facing room which was bright but a bit noisy. Very clean. Asked for kettle, as no tea making facility in room. Cafe downstairs. And lots of restaurants on street. Great staff. Great place to stay but unfortunately price is way too high.
