choice hotel, great staff, wonderful location”
I booked Sacred Valley Inn after reading so many positive reviews. They were all spot on. I arrived, planning to spend several days. However, I had an asthmatic reaction from the air in Kathmandu and felt I needed to leave the city. After speaking with the staff, they were most supportive and facilitated my move out of the city. It was the first time I have ever canceled due to feeling ill, and I was taken by all the support and care I received. Consequently, when I went to Pokhara later on, I sought out Sacred Valley Inn (their 2nd location) and booked a long stay. Of all the places I visited in Nepal over a month, SVI is top on my list for accommodation (both locations have charming facilities), service, service, and service...Bishnu arranged my trek, made suggestions for dining out that were always choice, and most of all, there was a friendliness that felt so genuine, I wanted to stay longer. I noticed all the other guests were also in bliss and enjoying all the good care provided by the staff. So I experienced 2 locations of SVI, one in Kathmandu, the other in Pokhara....both choice. I hope to return and this time, stay several weeks. This is one of the best deals going.
My first ever trip to Nepal was memorable because of its beautiful and fascinating sites - Pashupatinath, The Great Boudha Stupa, Patan, Nagarkot, Bhaktapur. The cuisine is wonderful. Hotel The Sacred Valley Home is the perfect place to stay in Kathmandu, giving guests great value for money and utmost hospitality. It is centrally located in the shopping district of Thamel. Owner/manager Nabin Giri, his son Ashish and his lovely daughters and their staff made sure I was taken cared of and helped me enjoy my trip. Thumbs up!
another great visit to sacred valley home”
I have visited Nabin at the Sacred Valley Home on various occasions over a period of many years. His attention to detail and commitment to the happiness of his guests is second to none. From first entering and being greeted by his two daughters Indu and Saruna who work as receptionist and chef respectively, you are made to feel most welcome. The room cleanliness and facilities are perfect and the added breakfast in the morning leave you requiring no more.. I cannot recommend the Sacred Valley Home highly enough and will always return when i visit Nepal
Outstanding service and location”
Parts of the Thammel area of Kathmandu are very noisy. The Sacred Valley is a short walk to the heart of Thammel, but It is on a quiet street. The new owners are very accommodating and pleasant and the hotel is an excellent value. I highly recommend it. I have stayed in at least three other hotels in Thammel, but the Sacred Valley has been by hotel of choice for the last three visits over the past ten years.
I enjoyed my stay”
I very much enjoyed my stay at the Sacred Valley Home . The staff are very helpful and friendly . I got turned around one night and they even sent someone to lead me back . The food was good on the rooftop and they were great at helping you find other places to try . Within walking distance to shopping and food . Close to one of the best pizza places I've even been to , Fire and Ice Pizza and Big Daddy Burger was tasty also . Who would have thought Nepal would have good pizza and hamburgers . The boss even had me eat with his family the last night I was there and it was tasty also . Helpful about getting you to and from the airport too .
Perfect place. A cut above the average.”
I stayed here for two nights. I had a very big room with lovely comfortable bed and crisp linen. I always make a point to check the pillows in the cases. The ones in the Sacred Valley Home were very clean. A good sign. The shower was amazingly strong and piping hot. The owner and staff were very attentive. The rooftop location for breakfast was lovely. The breakfast included homemade bread and jams, a terrific fresh fruit salad and a French press of organic coffee. Really top notch. The location was in the heart of Thamel but in a quieter street. I would certainly stay here again.
Great for everyone. ”
My business partner and myself had a wonderful stay here for two weeks in total. We got to know the staff quite well, not only was the service was excellent but at the same time they were very down to earth and friendly. Here's a few points: -Breakfast was great value- the apple pancakes are amazing! -The wifi was good (for Nepal standards). -The rooftop has a great view and gets lots of sun. -Rooms were spotless and cleaned often -The location was right in the heart of Thamel, yet quiet. -Beds were comfortable -Hot water -Food is a little bit of expensive than restaurants nearby but you get what you pay for. Overall the best place i've stayed at in Nepal and the amazing staff really made it feel like home. Definitely try KC the chef's momos!
Nice room but big noise of power generator”
we stayed in The Sacred Valley Inn just for 1 night, people are nice here and room is big and clean. The only problem is the big noise of power generator, but I guess it's not inevitable as the power supply pb. of Kathmandu.
A home to where to stay and not just a hotel”
An excellent place to stay right in the heart of Thamel yet away from the hustle and bustle. The staff and service was excellent. We felt we were staying in a home with friendly people who really took time to ensure our stay was the best it could be and not another hotel. Highly recommend and can't wait for our next stay - thank you to everyone.
Kathmandu post earthquake”
This was my second stay after a year. I was concerned that there would be changes after the recent earthquakes but found the hotel the same as usual, as was Thamel, albeit much quieter. There were no major concerns during my stay either with the hotel or the area although I believe things are worse in the surrounding villages.A warm welcome awaits you.
Good people, good value ”
More of a traditional family-like stay. The staff was very helpful and the room was good. My son complained that the TV was an older style, but if you're in Kathmandu for watching TV, you're probably doing something wrong. Food was good and reasonably priced. The rooftop dining was a nice touch. Service was excellent.
Excellent stay in heart of Thamel”
We wanted to spend our last three days in Nepal in comfort so we booked one night in this recommended hotel. The price was not extremely high, but more than we were used to. However, as soon as we were inside, we immediately booked two nights extra. Now this was clean and tidy. Moreover, we had the luxury of staying in a familiy room with lots of space. The bathroom also was spotless, hot shower was delightful. The roof terrace provided a very nice view of Thamel's roofs. The restaurant serves great coffee at breakfast. Location is top, though you have to look for the entrance (behind Jiathi) the first time, Thamal is literally around the corner. If you can afford it, book this hotel, it's worth it.
Great location and a perfect choice.”
I stayed here for two nights. Well located in Thamel but not too noisy. Very attentive staff. Large comfortable room with crisp linens. All very clean. Strong shower with lots of hot water. The rooftop breakfast spot was very nice. A cut above the rest with a French press of organic coffee, homemade bread and jam and fresh fruit salad.
Our 5th visit. Excellent location in quiet street near Thamel. Friendly helpful staff. Rooms are being refurbished and are kept very clean. Nice roof garden but other communal rooms average.
Pleasant stay at sacred valley Inn”
We really liked the hotel. The hotel is clean and located in the center of Thamel. The staffs are very friendly.
Away from the madness”
Great to find a spot just off the main drag of Thamel, in quiet backstreet. They've been refurbishing and entry area is a pleasure to see on arrival. Really helpful front desk staff!
Not as expected”
This hotel is not as good as what the comments on internets. The room is quite dark and the wifi is very weak, also the staffs are not very friendly, just provide ordinary service. Kathmandu has a shortage of electricity problem so there were at least 2-3 times out of electricity during our one day stay. The hotel seems like no back-up electricity. It is centrally located in the midst of the shopping Thamel district, one can find nice restaurants and shops everywhere.
Descend hotel for the price”
stayed in the hotel for 4 nights in april 2012. average 2-3 star hotel but for the price what else would you expect. no major concerns or problems. staff is friendly. used laundry service - they lost couple of items but were very polite and done some discount because of this. in general pleasant stay.
Good location ”
The hotel location is very near to Thamel and the staffs are helpful. However, there is no hot shower in the morning and only applicable in the evening/night. Shower curtain and comforter linen can be changed to a new one.
great value for money and friendly attentive staff”
all I couls ask for. Would certainly return there when I return to Kathmandu
Take a look at these facilities:
