This budget hotel opposite the Van Gogh museum offers great value for money close to the museums and within easy reach of the city center. The Hotel Van Gogh in Amsterdam is perfect for visiting the museums, including the famous Rijks Museum, and Leidseplein and the Heineken Experience are within close walking distance. The tram stops close to the hotel and takes customers into central Amsterdam in 10 minutes. The hotel has spacious, very clean rooms and bathrooms, and satellite TV. The hotel also serves an excellent Dutch breakfast, and the surrounding area has many lively cafés, shops, restaurants, and bars.

Just great and fantastic staff”
The staff and location
Perfect location, but the room was really small but good. The worst thing was the noisy room next to me. There were young people yelling, laughing and singing. The rest, was ok for me. The good thing, I had a nespresso machinne in my own room. That was nice.
Good place for groups”
We had a private triple room, which was basic but had plenty of room and was clean. The bathroom was good and the shower was nice and powerful. Our room was on the ground floor which isn't ideal as smokers congregated outside the window, which my friend could smell while she was in bed. Also, there is a primary school right outside, so don't expect a lie in on a weekday. Location is ideally placed for the museums and quite quiet at night. Staff were all super friendly and helpful.
We were originally given a very cold room. on the top floor at the front, which was cramped and had a few cobwebs but thanks to the very helpful young man on reception we changed rooms almost immediately to one on the third floor, overlooking a quiet street which was spotless, much more spacious and a lot warmer. I must say though that the bathrooms are cold as there are no radiators or heated towel rails to take the chill off. However we left the door open to the bedroom and as the shower was so excellent (one of the best I have ever had in a hotel) it warmed up quickly. The bed was extremely comfortable and it was quiet at all times. The TV had plenty of channels, English language films on each night. The location is super, trams stop a few yards away on the main road and it is a two minute walk to the Van Gogh Museum and a ten minute walk to the centre. An ideal hotel for a first trip to Amsterdam and I would stay again and recommend it.
- Perfect location, walking distances to all major touristy attractions!!! - Room has been very nicely decorated and very clean - Insteand of instant coffee, they also have Nespresso machine and free capsules in our room So overall, highly recommended to everyone who is looking for a decent hotel to stay with relatively reasonable price
The location is amazing! I just took a bus from and to the airport which saved me a great deal of money. It’s surrounded by tons of museums to visit. Very convenient. You can also purchase the breakfast at the reception for just 5 Euros. Spacious rooms though I was quite disappointed with the designs since my wallpaper didn’t actually show the whole picture of Van Gogh’s painting. Friendly and helpful staffs. I’d go back here time and time again.
Everything you need a little more”
Upon entering the room, we were welcomed by the spacious room and surprised with a lovely Nespresso machine! The bathroom is big and spacious, the room is comfortable and the location of the hotel is also very convenient to get to all the major museums in Amsterdam. Trams are also nearby with major tram routes that brings us into the city within 10mins. Cheap breakfast but if you want something more, there's a cafe next door that will definitely not disappoint you too. Great place and will be my top choice for future bookings!
The main reason I chose this hotel is good location, 10 minutes by tram or 30 minutes walk to the city center. It’s easy for shopping and surrounded by nice restaurants. It’s opposite Van Gogh Museum and 1 minutes to Rijksmuseum.
so convenient. So close to museums etc. Nice man at desk helped us by informing us that a bus outside the hotel would take us to the airport. Saved us a trip to the train station. Only downside: They put us in a ground floor room which did not feel totally secure as the websites/door did not fasten securely.
Rooms are not huge but definitely more spacious compared to other hotels around the same area. Walking distance to trams and Van Gogh museum. Overall very satisfied with our stay. Will choose this hotel again if we visit Amsterdam.
A night at the Museumplein”
Check in went smooth, offering early check in. The staff was very helpful getting directions and suggestions. They checked my bags without complaint. The breakfast was good, included with my booking. They don't have ice machines, a gym, a bar, or a pool. They do have a great location to the Museumplein (Stedelijk, Ritjks, Van Gough, House of Bols, Diamond), the area around the core city museums; Large windows with a sort of view (maybe ask for a better one); Close to Vondel Park; close to good restaurants and tram hub.
We stayed as a couple of Grandparents with our son, his wife and 8 year old son staying elsewhere.”
We were strongly recommended to stay with you by friends who had been with you before loved it and are very happy to continue to spread the word. Your staff were awesome, the situation perfect and we even scored a street party outside our room as the nearby school broke up for the year. We hope to return one day.
One of the staff shouted at me for not clearing a breakfast table , I did not know we had to clear up after breakfast she was so rude a shouted can’t you read and shouted at me in front of a full restaurant,I felt so embarrassed,so they really need to lol at there staff as you cannot speak to paying customers in that way we paid £1,200 for our rooms for 2 nights and I don’t like being shouted at in front of others .so I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for this reason
Stay clear. This hotel will double charge you”
When i first arrived at the hotel, they insisted that i have not made payment. Because I just arrived in Amsterdam after a long trip from Singapore, i was too exhausted to argue with the staff. (The staff could not be bothered that we look tired - the hotel staff is not trained to handle travellers, they need proper training) The next day, when I checked my bank account, there was double deduction. One was by Agoda and the other by the Hotel. I am surprised that AGODA allowed such hotels to do double deduction. If I didnt check my account, i would never know that there will be double deduction. So stay clear of this hotel if you want to avoid double deduction. I hope AGODA reads this review so that they can weed out rogue hotels that do double deduction secretly.
We stayed two nights before boarding a river cruise. Igor at the front desk was very helpful when we asked where to find restaurants and other destinations. We walked a lot in Amsterdam and the hotel is centrally located for many of the museums and sights. Breakfast is included and plentiful. I'd stay there again.
Truly great location for the best museums, the Concertgebouw and the great city and airport transportation, all within a 2 to 7 minute walk, incredible really! Classical music lovers MUST attend a performance at the Concertgebouw at either the main or the recital halls. Went to a fantastic performance of the Apollo Ensemble at the Recital Hal.; get there early and take advantage of the free wine, coffees, juices , soft drinks, etc. offered before the performance AND during intermission, while relaxing with the highly cultured locals, who, I must say, really know how to live . . . what a city!
Excellent hotel for travelers”
I would definitely recommend this hotel for travelers. The rooms are small but you won't spend much time in them anyway. The beds are super comfortable and they offer free luggage storage, printing of tickets, and power converters. The breakfast is very basic, but an excellent value for 5 euros. The rooms were clean and updated. The only warning I would give is that it is located directly across the way from a school and during the week it's very noisy with kids playing all day. But for most people, that won't be an issue. It's walking distance to everything. Great place to stay.
I have never written a comment to judge a hotel because I am a lazy man. However, I have to say this is the best hotel with everything! Much much better than I stayed in Paris and Berlin and other place! And the price is cheapest! Definitely it will be my first option for my next Amsterdam trip!
We had teenagers on another floor which was a little dissapppinting but was ok. Little info in room ”
Great position. Clean. Not a very welcoming start but improved. Was told I hadn’t paid when I had. Could have been more info in rooms and had hoped for more of a Van Gogh experience. Great shower. We didn’t try breakfast but looked good. Excellent position to walk everywhere
Good location in the museum area. So it was easy to get to the museums early, avoiding the queues. The 5 Euro breakfast was a good value.
