Great, but not so clean and no fridge inside the room. ”
room a bit dirty, esp the floor. No fridge inside the room, a bit inconvenience. the closest subway station, 39th st. was closed for construction. I had to go to 36th st station, which was like 6-7 min walking distance. Overall great deal!
Ideally situated on Long Island City, across the East River, 1 minute walk to subway.! Great.!”
1 min subway ride across Queens Boro bridge to Queens Boro Plaza.. Easy train connections to anywhere in NY. We train, bus & walked. Go walking in Astoria, Queen's or Brooklyn. Meet, see, hear, smell & taste real America, AND go touristy places. Shop in real shops, not Maceys, drink coffee in mom n pop shops like in the movies, not Starbucks. We walked miles. Met weirdos, met travellers, met every ethnic I knew & some I didn't. Travelled with my 14 year old. We drove to Arlington Cemetery, White House (its NOT the one you see in the movies! I'm slightly embarrassed, but hey, the beauty of travel is it broadens the mind!) & down to Key West, finished in Orlando. Snow to sun. I had no problem stayin in bed while my kid went out to Dunkin Donuts to get 'her' breakfast. American people are mostly super polite & helpful. Service is THE best. Food however looks good, but is THE worst in the world! Processed everything. It cheap & plentiful for a reason. Taco Bell? Your butt WILL ring.!
It was ok”
Pros large room comfortable good views close to restaurants n train my room was clean , cons couldn't check in as early without paying half the cost of another night even tho I had requested early enough n wasn't told, no continental breakfast even tho noted on line , no cups plates pots or utensils in the kitchenette or coffee maker even tho u see it on the web site pics, no parking anywhere even to just be dropped off with your luggage
Good value for the money”
We stayed in Hotel Vetiver for a week during Christmas time. The hotel is located in Queens and an easy 10-minute walk will bring you to the 36th Avenue metro station or the Queens Plaza station. Both stations have direct trains to Manhattan. The neighborhood is not ideal and it gets quite dark at night, but I think this is reflected in the relatively low price of the hotel. A number of convenience and laundry shops are available near the hotel. There are also a variety of restaurants and takeaway shops near the 36th Avenue station. We highly recommend Arepas Cafe which does great and affordable Venezuelan food. The hotel is clean and simple. We had a standard king room which was spacious for the two of us. We think the room can accommodate a small coffee or dining table and two chairs, which were lacking and could be of great use! Overall we are satisfied with the hotel and its staff, although our room key cards went unusable multiple times throughout our stay :)
We Enjoyed our stay,”
Hotel is good for the price, not far from the subway. Staff was nice, you can smoke outside of the hotel. They offer to hold you luggage after check-out if you want to shop some before heading to the airport. We really had a nice time in NYC. I would recommend this hotel for the price. I would stay there Again....
Nice place with some caveats”
The rooms were nice. However, 1. The phone number to the hotel doesn't work. You can't leave a message of any kind. 2. When you get there, they tell you that you need to pay another $100 deposit for "incidentals" refundable on departure. 3. A bit quirky in the rooms ... the two headboards for the double beds didn't even match. Seemed odd.
They commit fraud ”
That’s a felony I think , they forced me to sign something and lied to steal my deposit - when I asked for a copy (she lied and rushed me into signing) she crumbled the one copy up and threw it away - it’s all on video and I plan to press charges if I’m not reimbursed by them
Nice hotel lovely clean comfy beds good size room and bathroom don't have facilities for breakfast but minimarket next door would be handy if kettle in room but there wasn't very near subway and only few stops to manhatten I would stay here again good value for a lovely hotel
Myself and my partner chose to stay here based on the value for money. It’s much cheaper to stay here than to stay in central manhattan and it’s just a 15min subway from Times Square. At $30 for a 7 day unlimited subway pass this is 100% a better solution for anybody travelling on a budget. Hotel staff are helpful, decent location(shops and subway station nearby). Perfect hotel for us, couldn’t recommend it enough.
Good Location and valued price! Old facilities ”
39 Street Ave. station was under construction. Closer station is 36 street and it is 5 minutes walk. Price is reasonable in comparison with hotel at downtown. Check in is very slow and the staff is playing around their own stuff via computer. After checked in, what the hell is that. No air-conditioning control. You need to call the housekeeping to have the remote control to turn on the air conditioning and they will not leave the remote control for you. They said that they are the green hotel, but not leave the remote control for us. Whole three days and the air-conditioning is on even when we are out! What a waste of energy.
Why could it be that the reviews about Hotel Vetiver are so different? Maybe because the rooms are very different so that the experiences of the guests are completely different? In any case, I had a room with which I was very satisfied. It was very clean, quiet and very spacious. Thank you for the free upgrade to a larger room (I had booked studio which seems to be very small in particular for two people). Also the staff in the hotel was very friendly and helpful. I will return gladly and soon.
props: its much closer to get about to central manhattan with the n & q trains than it seemed on the map. whats more its close by the subways, a great plus indeed! the room is large & clean. cons: an annoying $100 deposit?? never had this with any other hotels i stayed in nyc. youd be ended up losing out in then, even though with complete refund due to currency exchange. its pretty noisy as the walls are so thin. breakfast was average, pretty poor actually. i wouldnt bother. recommendation: yes if it meets your budget. but if you think it seems pricey to you, then perhaps it is. considering with all the cons
clean hotel with easy access to Manhattan”
I've stayed in a lot of hotels, and I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the rooms in Hotel Vetiver. It's very spacious, which was something I did not expect off a New York hotel. I applaud the front desk for being attentive to the comings and goings of hotel guest, and I love the fact that it's a "green" hotel. I would definitely stay here again when I come back to New York.
I stayed there one night, but it will surely be the hotel I will stay in next time when I return to New York. The staff at the hotel is very nice and helpful, the room was clean and nicely designed, all utilities there. Really thumbs up for this hotel!
December Short Break”
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Vetiver from the 5th to the 10th of December 2018 and we knew that the hotel was not expensive so we weren't expecting too much. Our first room on the 1st floor was noisy due to the Reception Desk but we asked to be moved and the 4th floor was fine. Generally the room was clean and comfortable with daily clean towels and loads of space. Recommendations - additional bedding during winter, tea and coffee facilities in the room, PC for customer use. ie printing return boarding pass's. Having said all this we found most of the staff generally helpful and bearing in mind the low cost we would certainly stay again, especially when trying to avoid the extortionate Manhattan Hotel costs. Also great bar, Dutch Kills Centrall, just 100 yards away.
A great little hotel outside Manhattan ...”
I liked this little hotel a lot and it was all I needed for a quick stopover through New York. I had a nice view of Manhattan from the balcony, and it is close and easy enough to get into Manhattan for the day, without having to stay with all the hoards in the city. It's a cute and "gentrifying" neighbourhood that has retained some of it's charm with a latino influence. There are a few restaurant and deli options nearby, but they're really no cheaper than Manhattan so better to find something there. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. I loved that it is a complete no smoking hotel. No stale left-over smell of other people cigarettes. The one thing that I found a little weird for a hotel that wants to be "green", is that there was no remote for the air-conditioning in the room which meant that you either had to have the ac running all night, or call house keeping to come and turn it off which was a gamble in the height of summer. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay
This hotel is reasonable ”
Pros is the staff was friendly and my room was nice and clean and the location was 20 mins from almost everything. Cons are the ice machine is all the way on the last level , every uber I order they couldn't find the hotel, and none of the housekeepers speak english.
Room very crump ,staff only half is friendly”
First impression when we arrive , staff no uniform with open shirt greeted by Miguel the receptionist ,, special mention RICHARD the receptionist he is excellent , porters are good ,,,, housemade on the 9th floor is very rude , receptionist that looks like a Portuguese just don’t care until I lift up my game , for me it is not acceptable cause I work in hospitality for a long time ,, no restaurant in the facility but got 24 hour coffee and tea at the reception , 10 mins walk to subway , for a solo traveler it ok
The call center parole are so helpful but the company policy was terrible and I'll never book again or even recommend it to anyone I know or don't know. I have booked three hotels, two in NYC and one in DC. I completed my stay at the first and second hotels whithout problems and I went to the third hotel which I booked through them as well in NYC but when I reached the hotel they informed me that my booking is not existing so I called agoda and waited very long time until they response to my calls and he said that they sent mail to me needs some documents, I told him I have booked two hotels last two weeks with you and you didn't ask for any documents because basically the hotel takes my original documents when I reach, I checked my mail and didn't find their mail and sure that they didn't send anything!! anyway he told me if I send the documents now there's no sense cause there is no rooms available on gorgio hotel which was my distinction, WOW!! I waited one hour with my laugage in front of the hotel until they answered my calls then no rooms, after that he told me to book another hotel and I did, when I reached the other hotel which was armada they told me no rooms available and the same thing happened to me in the same day. I'm really have a very bad experience and I'm so disappointed of agoda. I'll never recommend it to anyone. Lastly I booked with a mother famous website and I got my booking finally.
