THE Home I Found in New York”
new york was recovering from the devastation of hurricane sandy when we stayed at hotel vetiver. i tried this hotel due to the good reviews written in many websites. it is located in a very quiet community and nearby are 2 subway stations that brings you to downtown manhattan in a few minutes and 1 ride to jfk. the room (double bed) is huge by new york standards. beds and linens are so clean, size and quality for a 5-star hotel. unfortunately, we missed the complimentary breakfast for waking up too late. what's best about hotel vetiver is its staff. the porters, front desk officers, room service can't be described merely as "friendly." they are a family! they don't only go about their individual duties promptly and attentively; what i love most about their staff is the personal touch that makes one feel at home. they start a conversation and we as guests just find ourselves immersed in such happy talk by the time we walk to our rooms, we're still laughing. they wouldn't mind doing everything and anything to make our stay in their hotel most pleasant. one staff even volunteered to forward to my home country a package that did not come on time while we were there. i emphasize here: she volunteered without my asking! maybe she saw too much worry on my face for the late delivery but what really matters is her attentiveness in solving my problem instantly. in my future trips to new york, no more searching is necessary. hotel vetiver is one place you'd love to stay in whenever you visit the big apple. this i have to spread around to my family, friends and colleagues who want the best value for their money while getting the service that put to shame 5-star hotels in manhattan!
Cheaper alternative to staying in Manhattan”
We didn't know what to expect when we arrived at Hotel Vetiver, but after our 2-night stay, we were very pleased with the hotel location, price, and cleanliness, that we recommend this hotel for budget-conscious travelers to NYC. Pros: - Fantastic location. Good alternative to staying in Manhattan. Just one block from the N/Q/R line (at 39th Ave). - fair price considering NYC's already-pricey hotel market - new hotel, so everything was fresh and room/bathroom amenities good quality - staff pleasant and welcoming (we were upgraded from a standard room to "penthouse" for free because they had the room available) - complimentary breakfast was great, complete with bagels from Brooklyn - we could check in early because our room was open, and the hotel also held our bags on the day we checked out so we could spend a few more hours in the city before going to the airport - easy transfer to LaGuardia: a few metro stops, then a 15-20 min bus ride (using metro card) ... Much cheaper than catching a cab. Cons: - hotel still under construction, I.e. painting, tiling, but nothing intrusive in the rooms - some room-design things not thought through, I.e. not enough outlets, no closet for hanging clothes, paint on walls is matte (easily scratches/chips) - construction across the street was noisy in the a.m., but hotel can't help that - not really in walking distance to restaurants or shopping, so need to take the metro to town for that
First Visit to NYC”
Very clean and simple, modern accommodations. Request a higher floor with a balcony. Daily room service was spot on. The location is ideal for getting in and out of the city because the subway station is very close. Market next door with a lots of restaurants nearby. Overall, good experience! Friendly staff, very helpful! Made my first trip to New York very memorable! Thank you, Hotel Vetiver!
clean hotel with easy access to Manhattan”
I've stayed in a lot of hotels, and I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the rooms in Hotel Vetiver. It's very spacious, which was something I did not expect off a New York hotel. I applaud the front desk for being attentive to the comings and goings of hotel guest, and I love the fact that it's a "green" hotel. I would definitely stay here again when I come back to New York.
Excellent Hotel and Professional Friendly Staff”
I have to rate it a 9.5. I would really give it a 10 except there were problems for the first 3 days with Internet. They were upgrading wireless and had problems for 3 mornings in a row. As a business owner that was not very good since I could not communicate with my staff, Other than that, the staff was friendly, professional and the best. They made you feel at home. They greeted you at every opportunity. The rooms were top notch...clean and spacious enough. Breakfast (continental) was very good (cereals, bagels, muffins, croissants, tea, coffee, juice, etc.). The room was clean and had someone there to keep it that way! Small exercise room but enough to keep you in shape. The neighborhood is good and safe. It is not 5th Avenue, but LIC is nice and mostly quiet for a NY neighborhood. Only 1 short block to Subway and 5 minutes to NYC. Bravo to entire staff at the Hotel Vetiver for making our stay enjoyable!!
Good value for the money”
We stayed in Hotel Vetiver for a week during Christmas time. The hotel is located in Queens and an easy 10-minute walk will bring you to the 36th Avenue metro station or the Queens Plaza station. Both stations have direct trains to Manhattan. The neighborhood is not ideal and it gets quite dark at night, but I think this is reflected in the relatively low price of the hotel. A number of convenience and laundry shops are available near the hotel. There are also a variety of restaurants and takeaway shops near the 36th Avenue station. We highly recommend Arepas Cafe which does great and affordable Venezuelan food. The hotel is clean and simple. We had a standard king room which was spacious for the two of us. We think the room can accommodate a small coffee or dining table and two chairs, which were lacking and could be of great use! Overall we are satisfied with the hotel and its staff, although our room key cards went unusable multiple times throughout our stay :)
Great service, ideal location and clean room”
We were impressed by the warm welcome of the front desk staff. They were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the towels were freshly washed. The free wifi was fast. Breakfast was good for the price. The support staff at breakfast was efficient and friendly attending to our needs with a broad smile. It was very easy to take the train into the city as the station was located just a few meters away. We had a great experience staying at Vetiver Hotel. Will not hesitate to return to this hotel.
A great little hotel outside Manhattan ...”
I liked this little hotel a lot and it was all I needed for a quick stopover through New York. I had a nice view of Manhattan from the balcony, and it is close and easy enough to get into Manhattan for the day, without having to stay with all the hoards in the city. It's a cute and "gentrifying" neighbourhood that has retained some of it's charm with a latino influence. There are a few restaurant and deli options nearby, but they're really no cheaper than Manhattan so better to find something there. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. I loved that it is a complete no smoking hotel. No stale left-over smell of other people cigarettes. The one thing that I found a little weird for a hotel that wants to be "green", is that there was no remote for the air-conditioning in the room which meant that you either had to have the ac running all night, or call house keeping to come and turn it off which was a gamble in the height of summer. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay
Excellent location ”
This hotel was recommended to me by a friend. Excellent location - 3/4 stops on subway straight to Central Park and very easy to get too. Just 100 yards up the road from 39th. Hotel was good. Very comfy bed, good sleep at night and very powerful and hot shower too! As it's only a place to sleep in as you are out walking and seeing the sights, it was perfect location, very reasonable on price for New York and staff very accommodating. Fresh towels and bed made every day. What more could you want after walking almost 10 miles a day! Would stay again there again.
First trip to New York”
It's very close to the subway so you don't have to worry about getting home late. If you go to New York again, you can use it again. The staff are neither friendly nor unfriendly. It doesn't matter if the staff gives me accurate guidance on what I need. It was my first accommodation in New York, and when I got used to New York, I moved to Manhattan. It is not recommended to cook at the hostel. The firepower of induction is weak. Satisfied for the price.
I like my staying in Hotel Vetiver. The area is calm and seems safer than other region. Staff is basically lovely and friendly. They keep the room clean and cozy after the cleaning service. One thing that I do not like is they do not serve breakfast and there is such a nice place to have a proper breakfast. You just get a sandwich or halal food around there. Nice view and location is ok. I would recommend this place to stay. Thanks
Nice Hotel in Queens”
Hotel Vetiver is an older hotel that has undergone some renovations. The rooms are quite comfortable with plenty of room. They are located just about 300m from the Subway which takes you directly into Manhattan in about 12 minutes. There are quite a few restaurants in the area with many different menu options to choose from. The Staff were friendly and helpful.
Convenient and safe location.”
Hotel Vetiver was overall a good experience. Our room was a bit small considering that we got the smallest room but it is still one of the smallest rooms I have ever stayed. It is definitely only for one person or two people. It was nice that the room was very clean and convenient that it was right next to the subway so it's not a problem coming back to the hotel too late when you're just 3 blocks away from the train station. It would've been nice if they had a mini refrigerator to store some food. The staff is really friendly so that is a plus. I would stay and recommend Hotel Vetiver to people.
The call center parole are so helpful but the company policy was terrible and I'll never book again or even recommend it to anyone I know or don't know. I have booked three hotels, two in NYC and one in DC. I completed my stay at the first and second hotels whithout problems and I went to the third hotel which I booked through them as well in NYC but when I reached the hotel they informed me that my booking is not existing so I called agoda and waited very long time until they response to my calls and he said that they sent mail to me needs some documents, I told him I have booked two hotels last two weeks with you and you didn't ask for any documents because basically the hotel takes my original documents when I reach, I checked my mail and didn't find their mail and sure that they didn't send anything!! anyway he told me if I send the documents now there's no sense cause there is no rooms available on gorgio hotel which was my distinction, WOW!! I waited one hour with my laugage in front of the hotel until they answered my calls then no rooms, after that he told me to book another hotel and I did, when I reached the other hotel which was armada they told me no rooms available and the same thing happened to me in the same day. I'm really have a very bad experience and I'm so disappointed of agoda. I'll never recommend it to anyone. Lastly I booked with a mother famous website and I got my booking finally.
Nice hotel af a great location”
I spent 2 nights in this hotel and was pleasantly surprised by the location related to the price. 2 metro entries are at walking distance and take you directly to all the popular places in NY (WTC, Times Square, Central Park, etc.) The room (6th floor) was spacious and has a small but nice balcony. The only negative points about the room are the thin walls (I am good sleeper so it didn't bother me) and a moldy smell in the bathroom. The people at the reception are really kind and leaving the luggage (guarded) a full day was no problem either.
Why could it be that the reviews about Hotel Vetiver are so different? Maybe because the rooms are very different so that the experiences of the guests are completely different? In any case, I had a room with which I was very satisfied. It was very clean, quiet and very spacious. Thank you for the free upgrade to a larger room (I had booked studio which seems to be very small in particular for two people). Also the staff in the hotel was very friendly and helpful. I will return gladly and soon.
I stayed there one night, but it will surely be the hotel I will stay in next time when I return to New York. The staff at the hotel is very nice and helpful, the room was clean and nicely designed, all utilities there. Really thumbs up for this hotel!
Prices are reasonable for the great hotel rooms!”
my first stay here was in february. i chose it because i didn't like staying at hotels that look like motels. they scare me. the pricing was great and the rooms are fantastic. during the time they were still in construction and didn't really have a lobby area but i didn't mind nor bother me. my second stay was this month, june. i loved how i was able to see the remodeling. looked great. they now serve breakfast in the mornings. i never woke up early enough. & didn't even bother to ask from why times breakfast was served. i'm just not a morning person. &even if you do miss the fee breakfast, there's a diner right next to the 39th st train station. good diner food. owned by a greek guy. always love places owned by greeks or italians. anyways stay was great. beds are super comfy and warm. you can change the temp in the room. bathrooms look lovely and contemporary for a hotel at that price. just great!
December Short Break”
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Vetiver from the 5th to the 10th of December 2018 and we knew that the hotel was not expensive so we weren't expecting too much. Our first room on the 1st floor was noisy due to the Reception Desk but we asked to be moved and the 4th floor was fine. Generally the room was clean and comfortable with daily clean towels and loads of space. Recommendations - additional bedding during winter, tea and coffee facilities in the room, PC for customer use. ie printing return boarding pass's. Having said all this we found most of the staff generally helpful and bearing in mind the low cost we would certainly stay again, especially when trying to avoid the extortionate Manhattan Hotel costs. Also great bar, Dutch Kills Centrall, just 100 yards away.
Nice simple hotel. Near to subway ”
Stayed this hotel with family of 4. Room is comfortable and space is just nice for the price. No complain. No frill. Will stay again this hotel if we visit NY again.
