"Comfortable bedrooms, great showers."

While it meets all the criteria of a budget hotel, this historic midtown property feels well above its class. Located on 31st Street within blocks of the Empire State Building and right next to Macy's, Hotel Wolcott gives tourists the gift of proximity to all the important things - Times Square, the Broadway theaters, Rockefeller Center, and the shops and museums of Fifth Avenue. Rooms feature smart pinstripe walls and traditional decor in keeping with the building's hundred-year heritage, while the business-minded have a conference room and Wi-Fi at their disposal. Penn Station is two blocks away, and the hotel is generally well positioned in terms of subway lines and buses. The lobby of the Hotel Wolcott is a talking point in itself with ornate gold-leafed cherubim and chandeliers giving guests a formal welcome.

Love this place”
Very friendly staff great historic location.kinda of a no frills place but very meet and clean. GREAT location. Great for kids also.
Great price, location & comfortable”
I traveled with a friend, so we opted for a jr suite, which was basically two rooms with an arch doorway between, but it was just enough to give us each our space. Found an amazing deal on Agoda and relieved I opted for this hotel. PROS: The beds were very comfortable, the room clean and the staff friendly. I was also impressed I could on-demand tv shows easily, so when I had only an hour to chill out, it was nice to pick something I like. CONS: The heat.... since it's a very old building, the heat is steam, which means the radiators clang when the heat is turned on, and there's no thermostat. We were on the 11th floor, so it was very warm... I turned them off as best as I could and ran the window a/c at night. I was also on the inside of the building so we didn't have any street noise. You definitely get what you pay for... no coffee maker, microwave or fridge in the room, but coffee and muffins was offered downstairs, so there's something to help you start the day.
Perfect for our needs”
We had a very pleasant stay at the Hotel Wolcott. The room, although basic, was as advertised and suited us perfectly; we just needed somewhere clean and comfortable as a base. Would definitely book again.
Great location, comfortable hotel”
This is a surprising little hotel tucked down a side street but in a brilliant location close to the Empire State Building. We stayed 4 nights as a group of 2 families with 4 older children/young adults. Comfortable bedrooms, great showers. Bedrooms larger than expected for New York.
Fabulous location, larger bedrooms”
We were a large family group staying in New York for 4 nights. We had a fabulous time as the hotel is central and close to the tube station. So it meant it was really easy to navigate around from the hotel. Hotel bedrooms had a great view of the Empire State Building which is really close by. Comfortable rooms. Have to pay extra for TV and/or WiFi. No tea/coffee in bedrooms but breakfast tea/coffee and muffins served in the foyer for breakfast each morning. Definitely recommend.
Quirky Hotel in superb location”
We were 2 families - 3 adults and 4 young adults ages 15, 20, 21 and 22. The hotel is in a superb location close to an underground train station so we were able to explore easily. The train fares are a flat fare of B$2.75 so really easy to get around the city. Bedrooms are larger than we expected. Good aircon, great shower and bathroom. Comfortable beds. TV and WiFi are charged extra. Muffins and coffee/tea for breakfast or go across the road as there are some fabulous bakeries very close to the hotel! The hotel lobby is amazing - like the inside of a theatre with gold mouldings on the ceiling. Has to be seen! We had a fabulous time.
Superb Location close to Empire State Building”
We were a family with children aged 15, 20 and 22. The hotel is in a quiet side street within walking distance of the Empire State Building. Its very close to tube stations so easy to get around New York. We also walked from the hotel to lots of different places! The hotel serves muffins and tea/coffee every morning in the foyer. Bedrooms are larger than we'd expected. Great bathroom and shower. Definitely recommend it. The only downside was no free WiFi in the rooms!
Good value, nice rooms”
Some reviewers complained about room size- for a NY hotel it is roomy - same size as a room at the much more expensive Algonquin. Plenty of hot water in bathroom, rooms clean, neat. Quality mattress and linens. Good moist muffins for breakfast. I'll stay here again by myself or with partner. If I was going to spend a week in NY, would want to stay at more of a suites-type hotel.
Perfect Midtown hotel for your NYC Adventure!”
Maybe we got lucky, but our room was MUCH larger than anticipated, especially for NYC. Perhaps this was a room meant for three people...not really sure. It had a separate sitting area with a sofa/daybed, a bedroom area, and a comfortable bathroom. The sitting area and bedroom area each had its own television, which seemed a bit overkill, but was appreciated nonetheless. Internet was $10 for 24 hours, which I guess was a bit expensive, but for the prices you pay in NYC, it's expected. The Wolcott is undoubtedly an older hotel, but it still has a lot of charm, especially in the lobby. And I have to say that the place is very well maintained and clean. Self-service coffee and muffins are served in the lobby in the morning, which was a nice way to start a heavy day of exploring. Overall, I'd highly recommend this place for people looking for a more economical, no-frills, yet cozy hotel.
Loved our stay here between xmas and new years”
Cheap in comparison to most, clean, great location, muffins and tea/coffee in the morning a nice touch! Room was so warm prob too much at times but a good complaint considering the weather!! Definitely recommend
Hotel Wolcott -- Great Location ”
I chose this room because I was traveling with my two teen daughters, and it was one of the few hotels that had three twin beds (we don't like sharing). I also chose it because it's just a few blocks from Penn Station, so we could walk to the hotel. Also, it was 20 blocks to the Gershwin (where we went to see Wicked) and we also walked there and back. Easy to get to things, close to Times Square and the Empire State building. Staff was friendly and the room was clean. I'd definitely stay there again.
Extremely rude check in process. ”
Excellent location. We had a 3 bed room which was perfect for us. Staff are a little dodgy. Extremely rude check in. Also when we left we asked for a taxi to be booked to airport. A private car arrived instead of a taxi with no consideration or knowledge of all the closed roads (bombing) and we were very late to airport. Felt there was a kickback to hotel worker for calling his pal instead of taxi. Felt duped. Other staff very helpful in checking out local jazz clubs etc. Other than the staff this hotel offers great value for money.
Location just perfect! You could see the Empire State Building from our window! Lovely, clean hotel, but disappointing no fridge, no coffee or tea facilities in the room. Most upsetting, I should have”
Pretty quiet street as it was near the business district, so not as noisy at night. Hotel also offers free coffee & muffins to guests in the morning. Not having free wifi in the room however, very upsetting. Also not having a fridge, as you had to carry...ice in a backet from downstairs, if you wished to have a cold drink in your room!
Excellent location and well preserved hotel”
Hotel location is perfect! You can walk to times square for just 15 mins. 5 mins to nearby subway. And there is a Macy's just around the corner. Warm muffin and hot coffee every morning which is very nice. Room is clean and tidy. Bed is comfy and shower is great. We had a problem with the alarm during midnight and called reception to fix. The technician came 5 mins later and fix it immediately. Very appreciate the prompt service!
Old and stuffy”
In a nice way you can say the hotel had old school retro charm but on the flip side it was probably more cheesy than cool. Each time we got out of the lift there was this odd smell like it was from the 1970's and not in the nice way. Rooms were clean but small, bathroom was a good size but very basic. Staff were just okay, nothing special. The central location was probably the best thing about the hotel, it's also next to Korean street.
Great location, very comfortable room.”
I was meeting up with a friend recently in New York, and we shared a twin-bedded room at the Wolcott. Fine place. We hope to return. I did have to pay for the internet service, but given the good price we got on the room, that was okay with me. Wonderful subway and bus connections in this area.
Good value for money”
Pros: location, great staff, comfortable bed, good value for money. Cons: Air condition in the room was very noisy, no wi-fi in the hotel, hot water took about 20-25 minutes to achieve when operating the shower water handle.
Everything was excellent couldn't be happier. Reason for 4 stars on facilities is because there was no control over the heat only could control Ac unit. No big deal. Temp was good in the building anyways
overall our stay is good but considering the price paid, wifi access should have already been inclusive. even in the public areas, there's no wifi access. also, the sink is too small and would be good to have an extra pillows ( 1 pillow in each bed was provided)
Good Value Hotel ”
Very comfortable stay. Staff very pleasant and helpfull. The only fault was that it did not have Tea or Coffee making facilities in the room or in the hotel other than 0630-11am which I found very strange.
