Good on all fronts”
Compared to much of our accommodations throughout Myanmar, the Yadanarbon represented very good value for money. The hotel exceeded our expectations on all fronts, and I would highly recommend it. Firstly, the location is great - amid a lively area with lots of street-side restaurants, two blocks from the train station and close enough to major attractions to get around by bicycle. Otherwise different types of taxi's are plentiful and not expensive. Our twin room was not big, but was spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom gleaming (and had lots of hot water too). Nice extras in the room were gowns and coffee-making facilities. Complimentary drinks are served at the Rooftop Bar on the 6th floor from where there is a good view over Mandalay. We didn't order food, as it seemed a bit more expensive than the norm, but they put on a free puppet show at 8 every evening. Although servers were attentive, they did seem inexperienced. But I'll give them an A for effort anyway. The breakfast buffet was another winner: lots of choice, fresh and plentiful. But once again servers looking rather confused amid the pre-checkout rush for sustenance. The front of house staff could not be more friendly or helpful. They were quick to assist with all our request and were great with sightseeing suggestions. I rented a bicycle from the hotel that broke, and they jumped through hoops to supply me with a new bike as soon as possible. Two additional points to mention: the laundry service is excellent (I'm a difficult customer to please on this score) and not expensive. But you may want to ask them to not pack every single item in a separate plastic bag! Also, there's an ATM in the lobby, should you need to stock up on kyats. If you are looking for a comfortable hotel at a reasonable price, you can't go wrong with the Yadanarbon

A little bit of everything”
We had 2 separate nights at this hotel. The staff were very helpful and efficient in organising airport or train transfers and all spoke very good English. The room on both occasions was clean, quiet and comfortable. The internet, however was very hit and miss. The rooftop bar was a great place to have a drink, nibbles, listen to local live music and see a puppet show! We noticed the heat more in Mandalay than anywhere else in Myanmar, but the rooftop bar had industrial-sized fans which blew a fine mist of water! We walked to the Royal Palace from the hotel. It was only a few kilometres, but at 10.30am in the heat, it was a big mistake! It was a short stay in Mandalay but Hotel Yadanarbon was great value for money. I would stay again, if I was in Mandalay - but next time it won't be in April....it is just too hot!

Pleasant and value-for money hotel in Mandalay”
It was a pleasant 2-night stay at Yadanarbon during my first time vacation in Mandalay. Worth mentioning in this review is the reasonably priced of car rental for tours around Mandalay or the ancient cities around Mandalay and their professional drivers cum guide. I booked the car for 1 day to go out of Mandalay (Mingun, Sagaing, Inwa and Amarapura) at USD60, with my own planned itinerary and the guide Mr Maung San is very informative and helpful with many local tips (how much to pay for entrance, renting a horse cart at Inwa, buy the Mandalay archeological zone tickets at Bagaya Monastery for 10000 Kyats - which can also be used at Mandalay Palace etc.). He also proposed some alternative road plan for optimizing the sightseeing time. The tour I had the 2nd day was a half-day tour around Mandalay (Mandalay Palace, Kuthodaw Pagoda, Shwenandaw Monastery, Sandamuni Pagoda, Kyauktawgyi Pagoda, Mandalay Hill) with the car provided by the hotel at USD25. Mr Lu Aung, the driver cum guide for the half-day city tour is equally well-verse and good at managing the time as I had quite a packed schedule. In short, thumbs up!!

A little gem.”
Yadanarbon is the ancient name for Mandalay, I was informed by my tour driver Ko Yar, arranged through the hotel. Clean, welcoming and very well knowledgeable .receptionists. Tours, car-hire, bus-tickets, ferry tickets, etc, can all be arranged by the hotel. Prices are no different from other places, and can be paid in USD or Kyats. The rooms are clean, well organized and have a good toilet/bathroom. Hot water takes a while to arrive after turning on the tap. However, it is the hot and dry season and it doesn’t really matter much. You can hear prayers/chanting throughout the day from temples nearby. Burmese are very religious people. Hotel is located at the junction of 31st. and 76th. street, surrounded by street foods. There are more food stalls at night than day time. The stalls serviced the university students and the General Hospital nearby, and as a result, prices are extremely cheap. A set meal with one curry costs about USD $1.00. Even at the many indoor, air-conditioned restaurants nearby, do not expect to pay more than USD $10.00 for a sumptuous meal for two. Walking distance to the Chinese Market, and also to the Diamond Plaza supermarket. Be forewarned, although the streets are organized in a grid pattern and supposedly numbered, most of the streets do not have the number posted and looks almost identical. It gets worse at night when the street lights are dim. The trick is to use tall buildings as landmark. If you are looking for a good Burmese haircut with a head and shoulder massage, directly across the hotel, there is a beauty salon called YGN, that services both sexes. You’ll be attended by some lovely damsels.

New and Clean Hotel”
A great place to stay in Mandalay. Close to the center of the city and close to the real people of Mandalay with their shops, cafes and open air markets all within walking distance, or the hotel can provide their own taxi if needed. No other hotel can match the genuine friendliness of the entire staff at the hotel. The doorman, reception, housekeeping, and especially management all went above and beyond to ensure that I was well taken care of and were very appreciative of my selection and staying at their hotel. I was constantly greeted with hello's, good mornings, and thank you's my entire stay. I would return to the Hotel Yadanarbon without hesitation on my next return to Mandalay.

Had everything I needed”
Basic thing I really was looking forward to was a clean and comfortable bed, hot shower and wifi, Hotel Yadanarbon check off all of those. Granted one downside is the wifi is a bit limited in the rooms, but it works fine on the roof and in the lobby. Hotel is about the midpoint between Mandalay Hill and Mahamuni Temple, so you can rent a bicycle from the hotel and easily get to either spots. Also, it’s close to Chinatown so it’s easy to grab local street food. Also the puppet show on the roof is really a nice touch, and since you get good wifi signals up there, you can grab a beer, check emails and watch the show. The only downside, granted I don’t know if this is a Mandalay-wide problem, is the chanting of the monks start really early. I got used to it after a few nights, but I really wouldn’t knock the hotel for it.

Excellent”
Very nice and clean hotel in the center of Mandalay. The staff is very helpful and attentive. We enjoyed our stay a lot. Great breakfast, free cocktails and great views from the roof top. We also tried to organize tours and transport with the front office and asked for a driver: it turned out the prices are ridiculously high (more than double the price of what we paid for a night in the hotel - and everything is charged in US Dollars). It's best to just walk out of the hotel, we found a great driver within minutes for a reasonable price. We had the same impression about the restaurant, very expensive US Dollar prices, although there a great cheap options just around the corner. Overall, Hotel Yadanarbon is a great choice in Mandalay and we would definitely come back.

Highly recommended hotel in Mandalay”
Hotel Yadanarbon is highly recommended for a stay in Mandalay. Centrally located with a lot of eateries in the vicinity. Room is beautiful and comfortable. Breakfast is goodand the restaurant staffs are very attentive to the needs of their guests. One thing that this hotel a standout and memorable isthe front desk man, Aung Kyaw Moe. I arrived too early from Inle. He let me stay in lobby lounge and gave me acoffee while waiting for an early check in because he knew that i wasreally tired and sleepy. He gave me a verygood and beautiful room. When i checked out, he took an effort to book a Grab tuktuk and changed my money to smaller bills to pay for the fare. This kind of act and gesture i.e, understanding the needs og guests makes the hotel a standout from the others and a great reason to come back. Thus, i will rate this hotel EXCELLENT

Superb”
Great stay! We stayed at Hotel Yadanarbon only a few weeks after its opening, and very impressed with their generous and hospitality. The location is convenient to transportation, shopping center and local food. The room is clean and comfortable. After a long day trip, GM allowed us to use room for taking shower before leaving for the night bus to Bagan, even we've already checked out! When we came back from Bagan, we arrived early and the staffs welcomed us with open arms. GM and his staffs worked hard and efficiently to get us rooms as soon as possible since all rooms were fully booked. Tip, if you want to try Mandalay local food, Hotel Yadanarbon is located on food street.

Excellent hotel in one of the city's best locations”
Nice spacious room at a sensible price. Comfy bed, lots of natural light, bathroom clean. Air-con was good and cooled the room down within a few hours of checking in. Breakfast was excellent, plenty to choose from and good balance of Asian & European food. Hotel location is as central as possible to Mandalay's tourist attractions, shops, restaurants etc...... but Mandalay is a VERY spread-out city, so most things are a 10-60 minute walk or a 2-10 minute tuk-tuk ride. Area immediately around hotel has plenty of eating choices too, with several air-con restaurants on the same block and a convenience store across the road. The crossroads next to the hotel turns into a fruit market by day and a street food precinct by night... you can see all this from the hotel pool! Rooftop swimming pool and bar were superb, great views across the city to Mandalay Hill. The free cocktail each evening was very welcome. Staff were friendly and helpful, great service but not intrusive or fussy.

Our best hotel in Myanmar”
We travelled from bkk with airaisia to mandalay and took the free airaisia shuttle bus to get to the city center, 45km from the airport. The bus can stop at the 31st street. Yadanarbon hotel is less than 200m inside 31st street on your right. If you don't travel light, better to drop off at the endpoint of the bus at the airaisia office. On request, the hotel will pick you up free of charge at airaisia office by car. The hotel is brand new as from august 2013. We appreciated the quiet airco with inverter technology, the inroom safe and the free coffee and tea. My wife was pleasantly surprised with the free buffet breakfast which also included local dishes and lots of fruit. Currently a rooftop bar was under construction which will be a nice place to relax in the evenings. Also a puppet theater will open. Around the hotel are lots of local restaurants and nearby on the main road (78street) there is the diamond shopping center with a supermarket in the basement. The main road connects you to the old palace, the Ubeing bridge, Inwa or Sagaing. You can reach the old palace easily by foot. A short taxiRide will bring you to the riverjetty where you can take the boat to Mingun or Bagan. The staff at the reception speak perfectly english and will help you with all your needs. They got us an airline ticket to bagan for 50$ per person. Cheaper than buying it in the airport! Also the atm inside the lobby will allow you to get local currency safely using any foreign atm/visa card. A local fee of 5000 kyat is charged per transaction. Good to know is that unless many years ago, in most places only local money is accepted, dollars can only be used for airline tickets and in some hotels.

Fantastic”
This hotel is fantastic. All in all, would do this hotel again in a heartbeat if I were in Mandalay. From the minute we walked in, they gave us moist towels to cool off the sweat from our faces and juice to go with it. The staff at the front desk were especially helpful, as Air Mandalay had cancelled all flights till February 2015 just when we arrived, and they dealt with Air Mandalay for me without me really having to do anything. They collected the payment, and delivered the tickets to me. It was really great. The room was excellent, and clean. Minor nitpick for not having a single queen bed, but hey. The bathroom was especially clean, which is something that caught me off guard. It was basically brand new! The view from the sky bar is excellent, and the puppet show was a nice touch. They helped us book all activities in Mandalay also. 'Twas excellent all around!

Great hotel overall”
I stayed two nights at this hotel. The stay was very good. As other people have commented, the staff make this hotel stand out: I need some flight tickets last minute, asked one of the male receptionist at night, in the morning of the female receptionist made all the arrangements very efficiently. I truly appreciated that as it's not their job and is a favour they do to customers. Also booked a Mandalay day trip with the hotel. It might be more expensive than arrange it somewhere else, but out driver, called Ko Nay, was great and totally worth the prize. The breakfast was good, and having it in their terrace makes it better. The only suggestion I would make to the hotel is to improve the night menu. This is Myanmar, and people want to try local food. There are some street restaurants in front of the hotel, and if you are brave enough, good is pretty good, especially the one in front of hotel, right corner. Regarding the noise (a complaint by some precious reviewers), it didn't bother us at all, and it needs to be understood that Mandalay burst into life with sunrise, streets full of vendors and monks, so it's unavoidable and shouldn't be an issue.

Great hotel with helpful staff”
We stayed here for three nights over new years and after being disappointed by Mandalay itself, we were thrilled to have the oasis of a hotel to fall back on. If you do end up in Mandalay (although we don't recommend it), Hotel Yadanarbon is worth staying at. The team went to so much trouble for the hotel New Years event and staff were friendly, helpful and quick to assist.

Best hotel of my trip in Myanmar by far!!!”
The hotel is very classy and tastefully decorated. The view from the restaurant on the roof for breakfast or dinner is great. The staff are fluent in English (rare in Myanmar) and the service is efficient and easy. The room was good with air con and very quiet. The breakfast and dinner were very good. The wifi worked well. Just a great address in Mandalay in my view. Best hotel of my trip in Myanmar!! (I heard from them that they also have a Yadanarbon hotel in New Bagan in case you wanted to try)

Great performance”
For our 2 nights stay in Mandalay we chose Hotel Yadanaborn which was a great decision. We arrived very early in Mandalay. We were greeted very friendly by the reception staff and check in was managed very quickly while we were offered a cold towel and some orange juice. Since it was very early our rooms were not ready yet, but we decided to spend the time waiting by having breakfast in the roof top restaurant. A great view over the city combined with a delicious breakfast was a great start. They serve a very tasty omelette. In the evening they have a traditional Burmese puppet theatre show with traditional music. This was great to gain a little insight into Burmese customs. The rooms are spacious and very clean with a fridge, AC, a cupboard and a flat screen TV. The bathroom was very clean with nice amenities like soap bars, shampoo, bath gel, toothbrush and combs. We had complementary water in the room and the fridge was filled as mini bar. All the staff, from the restaurant over the housekeeping until the reception and the guys who opened the doors were extremely polite, welcoming and attentive. The hotel is located only a few minutes away from the main train station and there are several restaurants and street stalls nearby. I can really recommend Hotel Yadanaborn. It's great value for the money.

Myanmar hospitality at its best!”
A wonderful stay in every aspect, with very friendly staff willing to assist the guest at every opportunity. I was required to extend my stay unexpectedly, and the Reception team were happy to arrange this at a reasonable price, and they very kindly assisted me with numerous enquiries I had during the course of my stay. I am due to return to Mandalay in a matter of days, and I have already secured my accommodation at Hotel Yadanarbon. A very big Thank you to all of the team.

Exceptional customer service”
Hotel Yadanarbon set a high standard of accommodation for our holiday in Burma. The staff there all provide exceptional customer service and make you feel friendly. They can organise a multitude of day trips for you all at fair prices. I got food poisoning while in Mandalay and while waiting in the lobby after check out the manager had some rice congee brought down to me to help me get better. This was a really nice touch of kindness that I will never forget.

Great hotel with even better staff”
We checked in during the afternoon and were very tired from our long trip, the staff gave us refreshing towels and orange juice which was a very lovely start. The check-in was quick and easy. Our room was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The air-conditioner was a definite plus in the April heat. The staff helped organise taxis and showed us some of the best places to go for sightseeing and food. We loved the rooftop restaurant and bar, you could get a great view of the city! Thank you Hotel Yadanarbon for making our time in Mandalay so memorable!

A 3 Star Hotel with a 5 Star Service”
The hotel is quite dated but recently redecorated. However the staff training, welcome and cleanliness of the hotel were outstanding. I have been in Yangon for 5 years and would say that this is by far the best and most consistent service I have received. The hotel also has a restaurant that has an outstanding chef and mixed Chinese, Thai, Myanmar and western menu. We could not fault the food at any point and ate at the restaurant every night. I will certainly be staying at Yadanarbon from now on when I visit Mandalay. Thanks to all the staff for such a pleasant stay.
